Business practices of Kenneths are shady and misleading. They care for nothing about their customers. Saw stylist, asked for light auburn color with blond highlights. First of all she slopped on the color like it was a mud pie, got it all over my forehead. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she confirmed that she could do it, even clarifying that I wanted big chunks of blond. She put a few foils in my hair, and now that I think about it, she didnt do it the way all the other stylists I have gone to in the past did it. She rinsed it, and started blowing it dry. Surprised at the look, I asked her if she was done with the color, because she was beginning to use the styling brush, she said yes she was done. It ended up a darker brownish red, with hardly any blond in it. I think they just hired her right out of high school. Her listening skills were terrible, I could tell the whole conversation she was only half listening, I doubt she even paid attention to the picture I showed her. I paid $258 for it. Then as I looked at my hair, I turned around and went back in, asked for my money back. The people at the desk said the manager doesnt come in until Saturday, and I would have to come in for her and the stylist to assess it, and decide if they were going to give me my money back. I had to fight tooth and nail to try and get my money back for a coloring job that looks like I picked up a box of ****** hair color from the corner drug store, and plopped it on my hair. I told the manager, ****, I did not want to go there because I was traumatized, she was rude, insisting I need to send her pictures of my hair. Ive had a bad color and cut from Kenneths before and they make you jump through hoops and different employees have different stories of how things are handled. NEVER EVER GO HERE. Had an appointment to have balayage done on my medium dark hair, showed stylist a pic of the blondish balayage streaks another stylist has done a few years ago. After sitting in the chair for over 2 hours the stylist finally rinsed out color only to tell me that my hair is purple ?! She then adds even MORE color to my hair to tone down whatever she did wrong. My hair was orange I left looking like ****** *** it was glow orange and hideous. I sat there for 4 hours to leave looking like that. The stylist was almost in tears telling me this had never happened and to come back that week they would fix it. No charge for anything which yea Im not paying anyone to dye my hair orange. They couldnt get me in to that location for 2 weeks so I wrote to customer service complaining that I cannot believe the lack of urgency to correct this error so they were able to get me in to the Powell location with a stylist named **** two days later. I sat there again for 3 hours and basically had slightly covered up orange hair. It still looks hideous and my hair is so fried from the messed up dye jobs back to back that I just want to give it a rest. 7 hours at two different locations to have hair that I am embarrassed of. Ive never seen anything like it. If you dont know what you are doing please do your clients a favor and tell them upfront you dont know how to do a certain service. I would give negative stars if this review allowed it

Hi, ********.I'm sorry that your appointment at our training academy didn't meet your expectations, that certainly isn't our intention. If you are still not happy after your visit to the Powell location, I would like to have someone take a look at it for you. Even if you are not comfortable with a correction at this time, we can at least assess the situation and make a plan with you about next steps and/or conditioning. Please reach out and let me know how you would like to proceed.

Paid 500 for girl haircut. The stylist was inexperienced and needed 2 other stylists to help get knots out of hair. I went to Penzone’s last time, $39 and a half hour knot then wash, dry, style!

I'm sorry you felt you were overcharged for the service provided to your daughter. The experience of the stylist had nothing to do with the amount of time that it took to do your daughter's hair. Providing service for six hours certainly does come at a cost. The knots that you describe was in fact, matted hair that took multiple stylists, multiple hours across two days to complete. While yes, ultimately, your daughter received a haircut and style, the time it took to get her hair to a point where that was possible, is where the cost came in.
After your first visit, you chose to see the same stylist the next day, where yes, she did, based on my recommendation, enlist the help of her team to accomplish what was necessary to help your daughter.
I personally tried to reach you by phone after your first visit when you refused to pay, so that you would know what to expect for your visit the next day...you didn't respond. After you emailed me, I responded with, please call me so we can discuss the situation, which you refused to do stating that there was nothing to discuss.
So again, I will recommend that you reach out to me if you would like to further discuss the situation.

Took my daughter to the Polaris location for her first highlight ever! She’s going to a wedding in Outerbanks nxt week with her friend and was so excited to get pretty highlights. The girl used high lift color with 30 volume dev. And it turned out orange so she tried to tone just the chunky bangs after I told her we wanted tiny baby lights and a tiny money piece. Toner did nothing. I paid full price and tipped her. But my daughter is so sad and has been crying since we got home. She doesn’t want to go back to the same girl who couldn’t accommodate her the first time after showing her a picture of what she wanted! Ashy highlights. Not copper stripes! Is there anything we can do to get the results she actually wants?

      Hi, Denise.
I am so sorry that your daughter isn't happy with her results. By looking at her history, it seems as though she has already been in with us to have a correction done. I hope that the correction has met her expectations. If it has not, please feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss.

I am not one to leave negative reviews, and the majority of my experiences at Kenneth's has been positive, but my recent experience with ****** at the Westerville location was very upsetting. After reaching out to the customer service team, I was ignored. I had blonde hair and wanted to go a little darker and get a cut. The color was way darker than i expected but I am reasonable about this. When my stylist was trimming my split ends using the dusting method, she was talking to me with the sxissors near the top of my hair shaft and I heard the sound. she cut a large piece of my hair and then pretended it didn't happen. i am not confrontational and she knew I saw it, the look on her face was absolute mortification yet she did nothing to mend this. I now have a chunk of hair in the front that i have to look at everyday I didn't receive anything so much as an "I'm sorry" and was ignored by the customer service team. Thankfully, i have found a much better salon and i will not be returning here.

      Hi, Alisha.

I am very sorry that this was your experience with us, not only for the result of your visit, but with the follow through. I have spoken with a member of our management team at Westerville and she did let me know that she was able to speak with you earlier this week. It is my understanding that she refunded you for not only the haircut you received, but also for your color as well.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I am very disappointed in the pricing structure. I have been a long time client of Kenneth's competitor (Penzone) for years but every once and a while would go to Kenneth's for either a blow out or a eyebrow wax. I decided to visit for a highlight to go back to blonde. The stylist who did my hair was amazing and gives the best hair washes, she really gets in and scrubs. The highlights turned out perfect. My only complaint is the pricing structure. First you get charged a price for the highlighting, then they charge you for the toner (I have never been charged extra for this as it is almost required to take the brassiness out of the bleach), then I got charged for a hair wash and blow dry. I hate to compare to Penzone but whenever you get a color service the wash and style is included in the price. On top of that they don't charge extra for the toner. I am so glad I did not get a hair cut because that would have been an additional charge. After all was done I paid around $320!!! In all my time getting my hair done I have never spent that much money on a service. I think all the additional charges are ridiculous. When you get a color service the wash and dry shouldn't be an additional $40. I would have loved to come back to see my stylist but the additional charges are too much. I am going to go back to Penzone where I know I won't be surprised at the end. I can't believe with this that they can stay in business or that they don't even try to be competitive.

      Hi, *****.
I'm so sorry that you were surprised at the cost of your services. It is always our intention to be transparent in our pricing. I was reviewing your pricing on this visit with ****** compared to your previous visits with her. While I do see similar pricing when comparing your highlighting services from visit to visit, I do see the addition of the gloss this time. I would love the opportunity to discuss this further with you so we can reach a resolution.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Let’s begin with the fact that I had to wait an hour after my scheduled appointment before I even got to sit down with my stylist! I waited patiently thinking some times things happen. I was scheduled for a cut and color. When my stylist finally came out to get me, I showed her several pictures of the cut and color I wanted. After choosing the color, she disappeared several times. I assumed because she was mixing the color. Then she finally comes back and tells me she will be right back cause she is going to go mix the color. This left me confused since I thought that is what she was doing. After I finally get the color on, I noticed that my stylist was with another client. Didn’t think much of it at first because, that’s not that abnormal and I was waiting on my color anyway. As I was waiting, I kept hearing dinging sounds, like a bell, but no one was around. Finally my stylist comes rushing up to me and says ok let’s get you rinsed. As she began to wash my hair, the water was so hot that I about jumped out of the chair!! I told her this and she barely adjusted the temp saying it needs to be hot to wash my hair. Warm yes, scalding no! Scrubbing my head very hard. After that she dried my hair and started the cut. I asked for several layers with face framing layers on the sides. That is not what I got. After showing her the same picture several times. She was then running between me and another client. I could tell then that she really just wanted to get rid of me at that point because it was becoming to difficult to deal with us both. After she was finished with the cut she showed me my hair and I asked her if she could please cut the layers shorter. That is when she glanced at her other client and told me that my hair was fine and proceeded to take the apron off of me. So I guess we are done then! I paid $153 to basically look the same as I did when I walked in there after waiting an hour to even be seated! I am NOT happy.

My teenage daughter has been through a lot in the last 6 months so my wife and I thought it would be appropriate to do something nice for her. We wanted her to feel special and for a minute maybe a bit pampered. Yesterday what I saw and heard when they came home was anything but the story I wanted to hear. I was told of a long wait for an overbooked stylist and a rushed cut and color. I'm just a dad who gets his hair cut at Great Clips so I don't know hair, but I do know when I see disappointment. My daughter explained that she doesn't want to pull her hair back because the first inch of hair is still her natural color rather than the new color which was used. I talked to my wife who was also almost in tears and know that the manager acknowledged their concerns about the wait and stylist, but as a dad it is so hard to see your child and wife so disappointed. I truly wish whoever the stylist was the best and hope they can do whatever needs to be done to prevent this for other customers in the future.

I wanted a change so I decided to cut off all my hair and go short. I like the hair cut and color, my stylist did a good job but when you color your hair you have to put foil in and then sit under the hair dryer. I was under a new one I hadn’t seen before and the only way to explain it is it looks like the burners on a stover top. I was sitting there and my head started burning she came over and she took me to the sink to take them off. She ran cold water on it. She finally gets done and I go home. The spot where it burnt felt like I had super glue because it was hard. I washed my hair and some of my scalp was coming off. It was seeping that is why it was hard. There is discoloration in that spot on my head. I know it’s not my stylist fault but those dryers can be dangerous.
