The transaction occurred on 12/13/2024. The bolt and door lock stopped working on a side door so we called to find someone who could fix it. We had an unused replacement lock (the entire set) for the locksmith to use which matched the locks on our front door so we would not need additional keys.

I called a local locksmith we had used before ****** Lock *****) and Frank answered. We discussed the situation and agreed on $105 ($80 for service call and $25 for labor). Frank came out and looked over the door and the set and commented there was not a key in the set. I went to find a key we used on the other doors and it did not work on the side door. I tried several keys we had, but none of them worked on the side door lock. Frank wanted to make sure the locks, he was going to install, worked. Frank said he could make keys to the existing front door match the locks he was going to install (Re Keying?). I did not try the keys on the replacement locks myself. The new keys would cost $25 each plus labor.

While confused by the turn of events, I agreed to 3 keys. Only 2 were made. When I went out to check on his work in his van, I realized the name on the van was not ***** Lock ***** and he was not the local company I had first called.

In a followup call the next day, Frank admitted he had acquired the number when the local business closed. While the lock he installed does work, the extra keys were not necessary and I would like the extra money repaid.

In the followup call, Frank said I had agreed to the 2 extra keys and then kept talking over me so I was not able to discuss my concerns or issues with his work. He said the locks work and I asked for 2 extra keys so I had nothing to complain about. We never tried the house lock on the replacement set to know if the new keys were really necessary.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As you can see, we attempted to explain the service and invoice to our customer. She agreed to the service, prior to us performing the service. At this time, no refund will be given as the service was performed and billed correctly: service call, 2 keys and 3 cylinders.

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

    Complaint: 22747288

I am rejecting this response because I was convinced we needed a key duplicated so it would work on the lock being installed on the side door. We had purchased 3 sets of locks, for the 3 doors of our house, with matching keys. These keys did not have to be duplicated. I had given him a key, from the front door, to see if it would work on the lock set provided by us. I was lead to believe it did not work and needed to be adjusted, as did the lock itself.

In addition, I had called a phone number of a local locksmith, ***** Locksmith, we had worked with before. The number had been given to Columbus Locksmiths but is still listed as ***** Locksmith.

We provided the lock set and I did not see any one try the key on the lock to verify it did NOT work. I only took Frank's word for it.

    Regards,
