  • Pending Government Action:
Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:
State of Ohio v Philip W. Johnson Jr. Case Number 25 CV 005092

The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven.

On June 16, 2025, the Ohio Attorney General's Office filed a civil lawsuit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court against defendant Philip W. Johnson Jr., alleging he violated state consumer protection laws and committed unfair or deceptive or unconscionable acts or practices while doing business under his own name or the business name Scarlet Events, and promoting, offering for sale, and selling event tickets to consumers for sport events, concerts and other events. According to the lawsuit, the defendant allegedly: did not have ownership or possession of event tickets at the time he sold them to consumers, did not disclose to consumers that delivery of tickets he sold was conditional upon his acquisition of them; in many instances the defendant received payment from consumers and failed to provided the tickets or refunds to consumers. The state is asking the court to order the defendant to pay damages to all consumers injured by the conduct of the defendant.
