I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with Microcenter that I feel compelled to share. On May 20, 2024, I tried to purchase a TV mount (SKU: 272898) priced at $149.99 from their website. As a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, I’m used to dealing with tricky shipping situations. I selected the least expensive shipping option, which was listed as 7+ days for $65. But then, as I proceeded to finalize my order, the shipping cost suddenly skyrocketed to an outrageous $10,065! Alarmed, I attempted to use their chat feature, which only led me to a confusing page filled with irrelevant JPEG images, making me question the legitimacy of their website. Fearing fraud, I immediately contacted my credit card company to freeze my account. Hours later, I received an order confirmation email that still showed the $65 shipping fee, but the company refused to ship to my address. When I called their customer service, representatives *** and his supervisor ***** confirmed that this astronomical shipping charge is a deliberate tactic to deter customers from outside the contiguous United States. This practice is not only misleading but also feels incredibly dishonest. Displaying a reasonable shipping fee initially and then changing it to a prohibitive amount during checkout is a blatant bait-and-switch tactic. It’s disappointing to see a company resort to such unfair practices, especially when it involves potential customers from different regions. I strongly urge Microcenter to reconsider their shipping policies and be transparent with their customers. Such deceptive practices can significantly harm customer trust and satisfaction. Until then, I would recommend looking elsewhere for your electronics needs. ***** **** Anchorage, AlaskaMicro Center Computers & Electronics

Bought a what's supposed to be a new CPU from Micro Center store in Indianapolis, IN. I went home to find out the CPU I bought was 14900K instead of 14900KS. The CPU box indicated KS, but what's inside was a used 14900K instead. I went back to the store and they denied fixing the issue, accusing me of lying and asked me to leave the store. I'm out of $700 and with a lower grade used CPU instead. Never again! They might truly have better prices, but when you need to count on Micro Center, it is not stand behind its sale.Micro Center Computers & Electronics

Mr. Wiley reached out to us via social media. We have informed him that the unit was sold as new in a sealed package. We declined the return due to the serial number not matching that on the box that was sealed at the time of sale.Review fromLinette S

I have recently had a bizarre, hurtful experience with this store-which I used to love. My PC which I bought from there a few years ago now has a broken keyboard. I took it in for repair, but with all the possible charges, especially if there were a damaged MB involved, I opted for a new PC. However, they had nothing in stock to serve my needs, at that time. I got the name of a sales rep who seemed very nice, but she didn't contact me re: a machine I could work with. Subsequently, my screen went blank a few times, so I bought a PC off Amazon... but this too was defective, so I returned it. I searched Micro Center online, then, and found three possible. PC choices, but one didn't list the OS or if there was a backlit keyboard, so I asked the questions about this, online Meanwhile, I contacted the original sales associate via email, and explained all this, saying that I really had my eye on one of them, but I didn't know the answer to these questions, and could she reply and hold one for me? Well, not only did I never receive a reply- either from her or from the online question, but they removed all three PCs from my shopping cart and sold them to someone else, I imagine. They are no longer available. I never received any notification about this, and they couldn't have been in my cart more than a day and a half. As for the sales associate, I don't know if I ought to post her name on here, or just wish her good riddance! I realize now their policy is all about money --not people, but I am angry that within the last three days, no one bothered to answer my questions, or tell me that they were going to remove the PCs from my cart and sell them-- though as I already stated, they were hardly in there for very long. Generally, I've just been ignored, and I'm so sick of using a virtual keyboard ! Guess I'll have to find a new PC elsewhere at a reputable store that cares about its customers.Micro Center Computers & Electronics

I asked one of my employees to vist Micro Center in Paterson, NJ, for service on a laptop. Upon entering the store they were instructed that they needed to make an appointment. They were unable to make an appointment becuase Micro Center would not accept our landline number for our business. Yes, they were willing to help but they demanded a Cell Phone number. I am not giving out the cell phone number for my business unless a DNA is signed. I do not know if Micro Center has a booth at the CES show but I will looked for them in 2025 and have a nice talk with their CEO.Micro Center Computers & Electronics

I ordered a **** ** *** computer case and accidentally ordered the wrong size. The package came I and never opened the box. I took the package to the nearest UPS like they told me to but never even gave me a shipping label. UPS told me they can’t ship it out because of no shipping label so I took it to FedEx instead and they told me the same thing. So then I had to take it to an actual FedEx ground shipping center where the semis go in and out of and navigate through that, and go through all this trouble to even return it. Micro center made me pay to ship it back even though I never even touched or opened the package. So now they made me pay $20 dollars for something I never even opened. The total was $180 and I am only getting $160 back. I’m never ordering from them again.Micro Center Computers & Electronics

Thank you for the feedback. As this was an error in the order placed by the customer, the return of the item would be the consumer's responsibility.Review fromJordan N

I had a 2 year extended protection plan that I had purchased, I went in to replace an item that was under their 2 year protection plan and was told they no longer honor those because too many people were using them, I spent roughly $300 for the plan that they now are choosing not to honor. It seems like this is fraud.Micro Center Computers & Electronics

Hello Jordan, Sorry for the confusion. It is not that we will not replace the component, just that it needs to be thoroughly tested before the available solution can be offered. Thank you.Review fromMichelle D

I just witnessed a manager yell at a cashier and talk to her nasty in front of a customer. I thought coming to microcenter for the first time people would be respectful towards each other especially if it’s a manager. I felt completely uncomfortable and disgusted at the behavior of the manager. He’s tall , white and was wearing a navy blue blazer. They need to work on properly respecting people.Micro Center Computers & Electronics

Microcenter manager at the Chicago location told me he would not provide a refund to any parts sold in a CPU bundle even if a part was defective. Do not shop from here the managers do not follow their return policy from corporate and run the shop on their own terms.Micro Center Computers & Electronics
Date: 01/04/2024
Hello Alfonso, We are happy to exchange failed parts. If you do not wish to keep any part of the bundle, you would need to return the entire bundle within the return window to receive a refund. The bundle pricing doesn't permit for return of single components. Thank youReview fromStephanie R

1 starWorst business ever. After bringing my device in for complete repair I was met with no response after 7 full days, with the promise of 3 days. 18 days later I have my device back only to find that they removed a port that would connect with my monitor. The service manager attempted to blame me for not understanding the changes made when I clearly told the tech I knew nothing of parts or tech lingo. Numerous requests to speak to my tech over the phone to be told that the line we were speaking on was a texting line only. As if they do not have access to a phone. Worst customer service ever. This business is deceitful and crooked.
