I contacted Jordan Towing from the website Columbus tow trucks.com by calling the number on the website ************* on 2/21/23. They quoted me $99 for the initial hook up and $0.99 per mile. I was contacted by the company and was asked to send pictures of the car, which I did. I also explained the reason for the tow was that car hit a guard rail. I was assured no worries they would be there in 30 minutes, which they were not. After he loads my car and gets the address to where it’s going I asked him for the price. He refused to give me the exact amount prior to towing. It’s being towed less than 10 miles, so I figured it would be under $150 from the original quote. He told me since I have full coverage I can have the car towed to his lot and to tell my insurance company the car was not drivable. I did not agree to that. Upon arrival he tells me the tow is $350, which is almost triple the original quote. I told him I didn’t have $350 and he threatened to take my car. He agreed to take $175 then said my card was declined but I never received a fraud alert. He insists I pay him through Zelle. I had to call back to complain to get a receipt. If you don’t agree for them to take your car to their lot they triple the quote and threaten to take your car to their lot.

On 2/4/23, I had my car towed from in front of my apartment to Krieger Ford at 1800 Morse Rd in Columbus, Ohio. On 2/6/23, **** at Krieger Ford called me to inform me that the left side inner and outer tie rod was bent and needed to be replaced. He said that it appears the towing company caused the damage when they attached the tow hooks. I called Jordan Towing and explained the situation. He denied any responsibility or possibility of fault. I offered to bring in the damaged parts to show him, but he would hear none of it because his employees know what they are doing and would never make a mistake. I pointed out that everyone makes mistakes, and he said that the tow hooks wouldn’t even come close to the tie rod.

On 2/7/23, I picked up my car from Krieger Ford. They had taken two pictures of the damage, and they texted those to me. According to ****, the total amount I paid to fix the damages caused by Jordan Towing is $555.10 including taxes. I have the **** for this where **** highlighted and circled the associated costs and notated and signed that those costs were incurred due to the towing company.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/16/2023

Per business, they were called to tow the vehicle because of two flat tires.  Damage stated was already done to the vehicle, before they even arrived.  The tow did not involve putting the bit to tow anywhere near the area that consumer is accusing them of damaging.  The business called Krieger Ford as well and was told that they said the damage "could' have been done in the tow.  There was damage already done to the vehicle, causing it to have two flat tires, which is the reason they were asked to tow in the first place.  The business did not cause damage.

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

    Complaint: 19369805

I am rejecting this response because: The “damage” to my car prior to the towing company coming was limited to the tires. All I did was hit a pothole. I asked **** at Krieger Ford if hitting a pothole could cause the tie rod to bend, and he said that it could not. He said that you can see where the tow hooks came into contact with the tie rod and caused the damage. If the tie rod wasn’t damaged by hitting the pothole, but it was damaged by the time the mechanic at Krieger Ford looked at it, the only logical conclusion is that it was damaged during the towing process.
