I have a 2010 jaguar XFR that I took to foreign exchange over 9 months ago . I have been dealing with a gentleman by the name of ***** who I’ve been communicating with over the course of the 8/9 month process not because he reached out to me but because he was the available person in charge once I started complaining about the time frame and how long the car has been there he stated they were back up and was loaded with work but they still accept the car and the waiting of the parts that ***** said the jaguar needed to be repair took months to come in . The car has been at this company for 9 months not because I haven’t paid foreign exchange because I’ve paid foreign exchange over 10,000 in the 9 month period and I’ve never gotten the car back since it’s been dropped off after 9 months of them having my car and already having my money 3 weeks ago ***** called and said hey mr ****** the car is done and ready for pick up. I was excited but not even 10 minutes went pass and he called bk and said the timing chain popped of the car while it was running and he could put it bk on but it would be Stretched out and would give issues. I said ok well how could that possibly happen I asked him can the belt be replaced ? He went on to say that the motor has locked up and now I have to pay 16,000 for a motor The motor was perfectly fine upon arrive of repair the company has had my car for 9 months I have never dove the car off the lot since the 10,000 repairs to the car so I don’t know if the repair that ***** stated he fixed was ever done or if the car was really fix because I have not seen nor dove my car for 9 months I need help I have no more money for this company and why am I responsible for something that happen in there care . They’ve had the car so long I just don’t trust anything I reached out to the owner **** to try to get a resolution he was no help he got on the phone and admitted to there fault in the damageBusiness Response

Mr. ****** brought his car in. We checked out the 3 issues he wanted fixed in the interior of the car, called him and got his approval. We told him we had to order parts from Jaguar which weren't returnable, so he would have to prepay for the parts. It took him several months to come up with the money. Once we received the money, we ordered the parts. Once we started working on his car, we found further issues and called him to give him an estimate for the parts and labor. Once again, it was several months before he brought us the money for the additional parts. We were finally able to finish the work on his car and started it up. It was sitting there running when it made a funny noise and shut off. We called Mr. ****** and asked if he would approve a further inspection of the engine, and he okayed it. We found the timing chain had jumped and as a result, the engine had bent valves. (Timing chains typically jump due to wear and tear over time, and a lack of maintenance.)
The timing chain is inside the engine and there's no way to inspect it without taking the valve cover off. We had not previously been asked to do anything with the engine, and there's nothing we could have done to cause it to jump while making the other repairs. His wife called yesterday. For the sake of trying to help them out, we offered to significantly discount the engine repairs that are needed. We have not heard back from them.

2010 jaguar never took a long time for payment when I took the car in the company was to do a full diagnostic on the car he said he could not just do the work im saying is wrong wit the car he need to diagnose it his self . So I paid for what ever he requested every time he called he demanded 4-5 thousand dollars after I place deposit to start work on car I’ve never delt with a dealer who has to wait on me to order parts like I explained to him order the parts and when the car is done I will pay .The problem is I’ve never got back nor seen the car since I’ve dropped it off nine months ago . What repairs where done that would cause my engine to just sit there and blow Once I took the car to him he requested Money demand a down payment before he started the work now he has 10,000 dollars of my money and I have no car . What you’re offering me to do the work is not fair and you destroyed my car . I haven’t even seen the 10,000 dollar work that was suppose to be done on the car I need yall to fix my engine I drove that car to the lot now your telling me I got to pick my car up on a tow truck U destroyed my car and I need it fix I dropped it off running u have my money fix the car I have no more money it seem like the company scammed serval people I deal with big company’s like Richard Buick and I’ve never had to pay nothing until the job was completed rather it’s ordering part or fixing what’s done . U got my money and I have yet to see what work you done to the car . I paid u 10,000 didn’t owe you a dime when u called and said pick the car up ! U know that I’m gone pay for what needs to be done ur a scammer . It’s him and his son running this company it took the father **** 3 weeks after I complained not to mention I was told he no longer owned the company he retired but **** called bk the person who no longer own the company and retired they playing a lot of games I start to try to get this resolved before I reached out to the BBB . They told me to pick my car up I told them I’m not pick up my car until it’s running the same way I brought it in . I ask to speak to a higher management and ***** told me he was in charge and that his daddy **** had retired ! So as I waited reach out to higher authority I got on google and also reached out to the person who referred me to this company they informed ***** was not the person in charge he was manger And that ***** father **** was in charge and the company was family owned but was told **** was out of town i called foreign exchange bk told ***** that I was waiting on his father to call me to get this resolved he explained to me I need to come get my car that **** is not owner he retired and I have to deal with him ! I’ve just been getting the run around with this company . They got they money and if you look at our record after I paid him it still took over 3 months to receive the call that the car was done ! As you see I’ve paid my part still no car ! I want my car fixed or my 10,000 dollars bk yall are responsible for my car it was in ur care . 9 months make it make senseBusiness Response

In response th Mr ***** ******* complaint.
1. There was no repairs performed on the car that would make the timing chain break, they normally break due to lack of maintance and lack of oil changes. When I reveiwed Mr ******* carfax history there was several times when the maintance service oil change wasn't performed.
2. Mr. ****** was able to come see his car at anytime during the time period his car has been here.
3. We always get money up front when we order parts from Jaguar- because they are not returnable.
4. I have been in contact with the ******* and have agreed to do the repairs at a discounted rate. Iam waiting for there response

I am rejecting this response because: it’s a lie . Foreign exchange did complete service to the engine. I have paperwork to prove that I paid for them to remove and change the supercharge which ***** stated needed to be changed. Also when I brought the car to the company none of the things that he is stating was wrong with the car . He called with major down payment prices like I stated in the previous compliant. So I have proof that they touched my engine! Also the car was running starting fine switch gears perfectly. I decline the offer that he offered me because like I stated in the last complaint also it was unfair he said I had to replace something they destroyed for 16,000 dollars this is what **** the owner stated . He said he would give me 2,000 off a 16,000 dollars job unfair ! I just gave them 10,000 dolllars for them to destroy my car foreign exchange destroyed my car they seem I was paying when they called and now I feel like there scams has been successfully in the past why not fix the job u did it I’ve already paid them 10,000 dollars. Like I stated I have not even seen the 10,000 dollars worth or work that ***** said he has done to the car I have not seen my car in 9 months I was told to drop money off immediately that’s all also never was told part would have to be paid for up front I only pay when he called was because he would say that he fixed the part and then something else went wrong. Every time he called like I stated I owed foreign exchange zero dollars when they called me for pick up. . Never picked the car up . Dropped it off over 9 months ago I owed them no money when he called stated the jaguar was ready . He call me right back stating now your gonna need a motor ! Where talking about a motor that was fine 9 months ago . Car was in there care nine months because it took 6 months at a time to get parts so they say . I had paid foreign exchange all their money when they called and stated the car was ready for pick up. I didn’t even make it to the shop when he called me back and stated that my motor had blown let me remind you the car has been in their possession for over over nine months, they responsible for my vehicle. I drove it there dropped it off now they’re stating that the car is not even running. I will have to pick it up on the tow truck. The offer discount is not fair. They’re not meeting me halfway. I’ve already paid $10,000 of my money , definitely declined. Give me my money back or fix my car. It was running when it came to You it was perfectly fine motor wise I wanted it running perfectly fine after I’ve paid a company 10 thousand dollars later I can see if I drove it away an motor blown thank you for doing your research on my vehicle, but that has nothing to do with what you destroyed. I feel like you know that I’m going to pay from past experience you got $10,000 of my money I don’t have $16,000 to give you for something that happen while in ur care . Not to mentioned the lies . U got paper work I got paper work I can prove u did work under my hood u got paid for it . Never seen policy that states I need to pay up ahead for any parts or before work was completed I did pay because you said u can’t do the work without payment it was over a 5,000 dollar job the first phone call I got they demand payment I’ve never paid a company all money before work was done . I paid u for labor and parts and have not seen the car in 9 months and ever call the car has a bigger problem! Give me my 10,0000 back because I don’t know if repairs where ever done . And also fix my motor that yall have locked up after I’ve already paid you ten grand now you have my money and u still got my car demanding I pay u 16,000 dollars and that’s the discount so yes declined

We understand Mr. ******'s frustration with the expense associated with fixing his car. But he is mistaken about a number of things.
1 - We did not do a complete service to the engine. We only did a long-overdue oil change on the engine, which included a general vehicle inspection.
2 - Unfortunately, Mr. ******'s vehicle has not been well-maintained. At the time of inspection, there were a total of 40 different issues identified as problems or areas of concern, and the vehicle history showed inconsistent oil changes. The issues found included either parts that needed replaced or items that required additional time to inspect and diagnose. One of the issues identified was a rattling noise, and a recommendation to remove and replace the drive belts and inspect for noise. That additional inspection for the rattling noise was not approved.
3 - The results of the inspection were reviewed with Mr. ****** and he agreed to some repairs. His main focus was on electrical issues caused by water leaking from the sunroof into the cabin. The approved repairs included checking the inoperable radio and climate control, cleaning sunfoof drains, and removing the interior for drying. Other approved work included diagnosing a differential warning, replacing the rear diff actuator, programming the rear diff actuator, diagnosing the suspension warning, replacing the adaptive damping module, programming the adaptive damping module, replacing the front brakes, performing the oil change and replacing the supercharge snout.
4 -The supercharger on the car was not replaced. As the work order states, we replaced the supercharger snout, which sits outside of the engine. It is a bearing with a pulley that connects to the fan belt. The engine valve cover is not removed for this repair and the technician did not do anything to ruin his engine.
5 - We never prevented Mr. ****** from coming over and seeing the work we have done on his car.
6 - We asked for a deposit on parts, because the parts are special order and non-returnable.
In conclusion, the timing chain broke. But we did not cause the issue and are not at fault for it breaking. We can only do as much work as the owner approves and is willing to pay for, and we offered the repair at a discount as a courtesy.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: let me be clear the money is not an issue. I just don’t have any more money to exchange with foreign exchange. I’m a unsatisfied customer I’ve already paid you $10,000 and if you gave me a reasonable price for the damages that you caused to my motor, I would’ve let you done the work, you’re being unfair your company destroyed my vehicle paid you to do previous work that I have yet to see ! when we first start communicating through the Better Business Bureau, you stated that you never did any work under my hood nor did you do anything to the engine? You also stated that you didn’t do a full diagnostic which I have paperwork STATING that I paid for a full diagnostic, I never known the company not to do a full diagnostic on the vehicle what’s a partial diagnostic? let’s be clear and now you’re stating that it was 40 different issues wrong with the vehicle with out A full diagnostic I mean, that’s what you said sarcastically speaking ! Let’s be serious here. I have paperwork stating that you went in my engine . I also have paperwork stating that I’ve paid you $10,000 for work i’ve never seen because let me remind you. You’ve been having my car for over nine months even after I paid you $10,000 in full for the work that you said was wrong with the vehicle after you completed the $10,000 worth of work, I’ve never driven the car off of your lot. All these lies for what let’s go back to the previous complaints or what about the work that foreign exchange is stating that he’s already done. I don’t know if that’s true. I’ve never seen the car. Can we please also talk about that. Also you’re a very tacky unprofessional company and you’re scamming people. You’re trying to make it seem like I’m frustrated about the money. No, I’m frustrated about the customer service. The labor that I have yet to see the money that you already have in your pocket and me without a vehicle that’s still sitting at your lot almost 10 months later. A car that I drove to your lot with no motor issues no engine issues and all of a sudden the car doesn’t start the motors blown ? You’ve had possession of it for 9 months make it make sense
I feel as though for exchange should be responsible for half the motor price better yet all of it because they locked the motor up . Car sitting over 9 months because foreign exchange was acting like they were waiting on parts and parts was so behind if you read the previous complaints I put in , foreign exchange, had all their money when ***** called me to pick the car up ***** stated on phone call that he had the car running for two hours and everything sounded great ***** stated that he drove the car. I never made it to the car. ***** called back stating that jaguars motor locked up and I needed to pay $16,000. No you need to pay $16,000. Also, before I even reached out to the Better Business Bureau, I tried to resolve this matter with this company first off I got the runaround about who was in charge once I start complaining about them already having my money ***** stated he was in charge (owner) that **** who is his father had retired and I need to pick my car up on a tow truck unacceptable I made a couple phone calls got in touch with **** owners information who is still active owner He was out of town at the time. He called back two weeks later and stated that he was in charge of the company. So at this point I was confused I’m tired of the lies the runaround they already have my money and now my car is sitting on their lot with a blown motor. The car has been in their possession for over nine months a car that I drove to there lot. It had no motor issues. I have my paperwork stated motor was not issuse upon drop off that was not the reason the car had came for work I would pay for whatever he said was wrong with the car but now he’s went to the extreme. The jobs are getting bigger foreign exchange already know they don’t have to answer to nobody. This is a family owned company and it’s a process to get my car fixed, and if I thought I would’ve went through this, I would’ve took my car to another foreign dealer

****** ******** had his car with 165,000 miles towed in
because it died on the highway. We pushed the car in, ran diagnostic tests on the car and
found 10 different major issues with it.Mr. ******** decided to repair 1 issue which was the rear
Sam control unit. We got the car running and drove it out, called Mr. ********,
and told him the car was done. He came to pick it up and it wouldn’t start,
because he had not bought the battery we had recommended. We removed the
battery and he took it back and brought us another one. We installed the
battery, the car started, and he drove it off.The bill was for the
amount we quoted him. He came in and paid his bill and then drove his car away. Since then the customer has not contacted us to tell us he wasn’t happy. If he wants to finish fixing his car he
will need to spend more money on it.Initial Complaint

12/26/23 invoice no.57957 I called Foreign Exchange and told them I have a BMW 325ci and I have White smoke coming from muffler and some fault codes. They told me they needed to do a diagnostic on my car I asked what that mean he say our dianose text isnt like other auto shop diagnose it's thorough text not a scan the text will tell us what's wrong with your car.So I took my car in for the diagnose. They called me later that day and it would be 3000.00 to fix I told him I only had 2000.00 and if they fix it to where I could drive it back and forth to work He said yes but I would have to bring back in at a later date to get the other work done I said ok he told me he needed 1000.00 to started work.So I paid the 1000.00 over the phone. They called me the next day and said my car was done.I went and the remainder of the bill was 852.33.I paid the remaining amount got my bill and keys. After getting home I went over my bill and notice they replaced parts I had just replaced upper radiator hose two weeks prior and expansion tank I replaced six months prior. They charged me for 4 gallons of antifeeze they also replaced the lower radiator hose.So I call them and Told them I just had those part replace and they told me thier tech told them the parts were bad and I should had told them I just had the parts replaced. Also on my bill they needed to do another Diagnostic because they didn't find the proplem and i needed to give them another !58.00 for another diagnostic. So after aruging about the other diagnostic fee they said they would do it free. They also did 438.65 more repairs I paid! Then they told me my engine light was still on and they needed 179.00 for the same codes and neede to do another daignostc. So they replaced Crankcase vent hose kit oil dipstickseal 711.91 labor 446.94 Expansion tank upper radiator hose 488.50 labor104.29 lower radiator hose and sensor290.87 replaced valve cover gaskets476.00 tue Jan16/24 I picked up my car 1/29/24 it still runs bad!!Business Response

When you brought your 2005 BMW 325ci to us to diagnose a
check engine light, we found 10 fault codes in the system. In this initial diagnosis, we were able to
identify some repairs needed, but also let you know that additional diagnoses
would be needed to get to the root cause for other faults. You authorized some of the work, but not
all. We made it clear to you that the
work you authorized would not fix all the issues, and that some fault codes
would likely come back.
As we’ve repeatedly discussed with you, we had to replace
the parts you had put on your car earlier by another auto repair shop because
they were faulty and leaking. You
approved us to replace them. We did
accidentally charge you twice for the 2 gallons of antifreeze. We apologized for that mistake and discounted
your invoice by the cost of the antifreeze. As far as the muffler and smoke is concerned, it could be related to the
oxygen or misfire faults we found, but you did not approve us to diagnose/repair
those faults so we can’t be sure.
We understand your frustration with needing additional
diagnoses and repairs on your car. We
tried to help by not charging you for one of the diagnoses. It’s undoubtedly aggravating to find out it
needs even more repairs after you’ve spent over $2,000 on it. But we told you before we made the repairs
that they would not fix all the issues, and we’ve given you estimates to fix any
additional repairs we found. As we
discussed, we believe your car will continue to need additional diagnoses and repairs
due to its age and condition. We made
the repairs you approved, but we cannot diagnose and repair different problems
with your vehicle for free.Initial Complaint

Since June 2023, Ive been back & forth to Foreign Exchange (FX) for car maintenance. Was told about several issues to which I authorized repairs (one of which was pertaining to the oil, flushing oil, etc.,) for which my credit card was debited $2500 initially. I had to keep calling to find out status and to push my maintenances' completion. My cc was ultimately charged well over $8K and my car was w them almost a month. Once ready, I drove for two days only to have the Check Engine light appear. Took the car back, was charged another assessment. I requested a loaner because they kept my car so long before. **** ** authorized. More repairs expenses but I negotiated for minimum to no labor charges to the 'new' repairs. I was charged another $1K When ready, I drove car away & not 5 minutes from shop, my check engine light returned. I drove straight back to shop & was told I would be charged ANOTHER assessment. Couldnt believe it. Literally 5 mins later. I required another loaner (knowing it would take longer if I didn't have their car in the interim) was told that they didn't have one. They called when one was available so I waited several more days until they had one to leave my car again. Next, I was told of two more issues. I authorized & pd for the maintenance based on their recommendation. Weather caused low tire pressure & I also noted low oil level indicator. Took car to tire vender for air & oil & was told oil could not even be checked nor changed because the dipstick was broken and clearly hidden w a jimmy-rigged cover. I reported to ****** who said it wasnt noted on receipts but there were mechanics notes. Huh?? Then why wouldn't they tell me so I could authorize repair?? ****** then indicated **** ** said they would no longer work on my car even tho 2 yr warranty exists on their approx $9K work since June. They would, however, order me a new dipstick for which I could pay (approx $100) them & was welcome to take elsewhere for installation.Business Response

We are sorry that ******** is disappointed with her experience with Foreign Exchange. However, we do not agree with her perception of the situation. At the time she brought her 2008 Audi A6 to Foreign Exchange for initial diagnosis, the general manager, *****, recommended that ******** not repair it. The car was in poor condition, it had multiple deferred maintenance issues and the engine had been severely overheated. ***** explained to her that the cost to make all the repairs needed was more than the car was worth. ******** told ***** she wanted the car fixed anyway and authorized some (but not all) the necessary repairs. We did the authorized repairs, and told her about the 2-year, 24K mile warranty for the parts we installed.
When ******** returned, she wanted new, additional repairs completed and thought we would do them under the warranty provided for the previous repairs. We explained to her that the warranty only covered previously completed repairs, not to pay for future repairs on different parts of the car. She insisted that we were responsible for the additional issues. We also explained to her that the dipstick was not broken by our technician. He found that the dipstick was broken off when the car arrived. (She also had been taking her car to other repair shops.) A portion of the dipstick was still inside the well and we were not sure if it would require replacement of both the dipstick and the dipstick well, so our service advisor gave her a quote with that in mind.
Because ******** was so insistent that we should provide new parts and additional repairs at no charge, ***** let her know that we would no longer do new repairs on her car. The repairs completed already by Foreign Exchange remain under the warranty, and if she has issues with those specific parts or repairs during the warranty period, we will be happy to fix them. As far as the detailing coupon, we don’t have complimentary vendor coupons for detailing. We did wash and clean her car during a visit, but perhaps she got the detailing coupon from one of the other repair shops she uses.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:1) The only insistence that I made was that when I got my car back after the first several weeks in their care, was to insist on a loaner for each subsequent possession. ** definitely did not like this but I knew it would limit the time they took to address the follow-ups. Additionally, to try to shame me for the 'poor condition' of my vehicle is telling. Why take it in at all? Once they have your car and have started expenses but not completed maintenance/repairs, they know you are at their mercy. I only received calls from them when they wanted me to authorize additional work AND to swipe my card for thousands more each time. I made the decision between the last two recommendations to only authorize one based on my conversation with Sr and how much had been put into it at that point, and the priority of the recommendation. ($8K by that point).
2) Their terse response is indicative of what I experienced while at their mercy once the vehicle was in their possession. I saw where other complaints were accommodated differently for others. There was no 'complimentary' assessments for me. Not even when I returned to the business within 10 minutes of picking it up with the check engine popping up on the drive away from the business. My charge to them was to address anything/everything. So, driving away and encountering a check engine did not and does not seem like it was.
3) I have the coupon/voucher attached. Notice **'s initials and notation. I guess he forgot.
4) There is NO notation of the dipstick being damaged on ANY of my receipts. Seems like an important thing to note since checking oil and changing oil would be a challenge as such moving forward. I have a documented receipt from my tire vendor who advised me of the issue when I took my vehicle in for servicing there at the change of weather and loss of tire air pressure accordingly. Why would FX not note such an important piece of information on my receipt(s) like all else? It is quite telling to have it supposedly noted on the mechanics internal notes instead. THIS insult to my intelligence on top of everything else. Why not disclose this to me at the time of several weeks in their possession?
5) I'd be very curious to see their version of all the receipts and whether they match to what they provided to me with my signature.
6) How does any of this justify and/or warrant the refusal to work on my vehicle when there is a TWO YEAR 24K MILE WARRANTY on the work already done? ~$9K of work, no less. Please note they are willing to order the part and receive the profit from my monies, however. No installation/labor though.
7) Finally, I had a bad experience with FX previously. It was mostly about how long they kept my car and lack of communication. I made a web review. This is when ** gave me the voucher---I assume to appease me for their lack and to request future business. This is the only reason I gave them a second chance. Poor decision on my part. Again, adding insult to injury by virtually suggesting me out to be a liar or confused about the voucher.
My claim remains the same as originally submitted.
Sincerely,

On Mon 10/3/2022 Called to get a quote on possible brake job for my BMW. Spoke with ******, described issue of vibration under braking and was told it could be brakes but could also be control arms wearing down. Was told to just bring it in and they’ll take a look and let me know. Dropped it off next morning (10/4/2022). Got a call a few hours later with recommendations of over $5,700 worth of repairs?! Got an itemized breakdown of recommended repairs. Decided to just go pick my car up as rates quoted appeared high for parts and labor for all the work I was told the car needed and I wanted to do my own research.
Went in to pick up my car, told them I’m going to discuss things further with my wife and get back to them. Waited for several minutes without my keys back while ****** typed away on his computer. Next thing I know I’m being asked to pay an invoice for $83.78 for taking a look at the car?!? I was baffled as I have NEVER been charged by any shop to just take a look at a car to get a quote.
I did not sign any authorization for repair or for the analysis of the issue.
When I told him I was NEVER told there would be a charge to take a look at the car, he just told me “there’s always a charge”. I reiterated that that was never told to me at any point and I find the business practice very shady and unprofessional. He reiterated that there is always a charge and tried to justify it in that he was only charging me for a half hour labor.
Again, I NEVER signed any document ahead of time that indicated a charge or my authorization to any such charges. Notice on the document provided, there is a note in the top right under “quotes” that it was in person and date time stamped. I was NOT given any type of verbal quote or document reflecting a charge.
I would like the BBB to pursue a refund of the funds under the grounds that I did not sign any documentation, nor was I even verbally told there would be a charge for the car to be looked at.Business Response
