Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. The member’s
LegalShield and IDShield memberships were cancelled November 19, 2024, when the first cancel request was
received. The member’s LegalShield Advantage (“LSA”) service attached to their Associate Agreement was
cancelled January 14, 2025, when the request to stop the LSA charge was received. No refund is due.

I requested a refund for LegalShield as they breached the contract, depending on a law firm to support me legally. Instead, the law firm stated they could not help at all with claims against government entities. Therefore, the money spent accomplished nothing and no service was given. The member number can be provided if needed to obtain the refund. LegalShield refused to give a refund. I need BBB to push them to refund.Business Response

Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. The Provider
Law Firm attempted to place Ms. ******** with a Referral Attorney; however, they were unable to locate a
Referral Attorney who was willing to take her case. Ms. ******** LegalShield plan states in part in General
Provision P. Provider Law Firm’s Professional Judgment, “The Provider Law Firm reserves the right to make
independent professional judgments about the provision of any Services under this Contract. The Company will
in no way influence or attempt to affect the rendering of professional services by the Provider Law Firm.”
LegalShield cannot force an attorney to take a case.
General Provision D. Cancellation or Non-renewal of Contract also states in part, “The Member may request
that this Contract be cancelled at the end of the current Eligibility Period by giving written notice to the
Company. If the Member cancels the Contract the Fees paid for this Contract are nonrefundable. After the
cancellation, the Contract will remain active through the end of the Eligibility Period.” Ms. ******** was paid
through December 27, 2024. No refund is due and Ms. ********’ membership will be cancelled so she will no
longer be charged for the membership.

I called LegalShield on 12/20/2024 on or around 4:03 pm PDT. I spoke to a male agent. As I was talking he transferred the call without my knowledge or consent. I was blind transferred to a supervisor named ******. ****** had no idea who I was or why I was calling. This is known as call-avoidance and is unacceptable and unprofessional. This gives legalshield a bad look. I had an incoming call and told ****** Ill call later. I called Legalshield a second time on or around 4:31 pm PDT. A male agent also engaged in call-avoidance and blind transferred and/or disconnected the call. Please be advised: I never used any profanity or made any threats. Furthermore, I made multiple calls the same day to my provider law firm *********************************, (both intake and attorneys), and never had an issue with them. The poor customer service is only coming from the ********************** side. I seek to hold Legalshield accountable.Business Response

I joined LegalShield early this year with my last 100 dollars because I was tricked into the contract. I then tried to cancel my subscription 7 times I called over the phone they said they can only pause my subscription because I had to email them about the cancellation which I emailed them multiple times the last 5-6 months with no reply and I keep getting charged $***** every month. The hold time on the phone are crazy long there is no use for calling over the phone they will only tell you to email them at ************************************** which leads to no cancellation. They are stealing my money! I woke up to my last $30 in my account gone this morning due to legalshield refusing to cancel my subscription. Also that is not the first time they take my last. There Is no one to complain to and nothing I can do about this situation its very stressful. I feel hopeless. I even contacted the person who signed me up about cancellation early October and she said to contact the back office. Which did nothing for me wanting to cancel my payment why is this business making it sooooo hard to cancel. This should be illegal!!!!! Also I was getting charged more the amount changed to ***** instead of the full cancellation I asked for in writing and over the phone I dont know how else to contact them. Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. The first request
to cancel that LegalShield received was October 1, 2024, at which time the LegalShield and IDShield
memberships were cancelled. The member also had an associate agreement with LegalShield Advantage, which
was the $24.95/month charge. The LegalShield Advantage subscription has been cancelled and the member will
be receiving a three-month refund of those charges.

They are trying to tell me about my contract. They have never given me a contract and no one ever explained this to me. They asked if I would like to keep up to date and I said sure as long as I am pleased with the first ********* I was then signed up for monthly payments but no one ever told me and without my acknowledgement. They said they would get me a refund. They said I had to go online to do the refund and on there they wanted to charge for a refund. I want a refund of my money.Business Response

cannot provide information for an account that Ms. ******* is not on, however, she is the only person on her
membership and would need to be the one to cancel her membership. LegalShield has not received an email
from Ms. *******. LegalShield will consider this BBB complaint Ms. *******’s written request to cancel her
LegalShield membership and the payment drafted on December 7, 2024, will be refunded.

I purchased a small business membership for *****, as soon I purchased it Iogged in, it said I have no account and I need to link an account number. I linked the account number, it still says I have no account. I called customer service, which was at home with dogs barking in the background, instead of them trying to fix issue, they're trying to sell me stuff. I was never able to use the product, I requested a refund, she's talking about send an email. I'm not sending an email for anything, I purchased this c*** and didn't get to use it not one time. They're scammers, I'm just waiting for the class action law suit to happen. This company has been scamming people for years, they provide no results. I already filed a dispute with the bank, so I will get the money back in a few days since they didn't want to refund me themselves. They scam people all day for *****, add that up, they have one big ponzi scheme.Business Response

Why do I have to reach out again after I purchased your service to connect an account that should already be connected?Also why is this not put in writing on the website under the credit card information box?
This explains this company is mismanaged and all I want is the refund of $49.99.

I requested cancellation of my services with them on 8/28/2024 via email as their system directs and received a confirmation they were working on canceling my account. It is now 11/28 and I am still getting charged for their services. Wanting to get a contact reviewed for a high-end coaching program I had been looking into, I signed up for a plan with Legalshield. I sent my question to their affiliated lawyer, but was told that because the program involved someone from which I can potentially make money (it teaches professional photography), I would have to get either their Business plan or something called a Home Business Add-on. My first choice was the business plan, but was told that an EIN number was required for that (as opposed to SS#) and I don't have one, so I turned to the Home Business option instead. When I heard from the lawyer again, I was told that I was STILL ineligable for his help because the other party to the contract was out-of-state. I thought I was stuck without being able to get help, but then after a few phones, was told to try for the business plan again. I did, and unlike last time, was told that I did NOT need an EIN#. I did eventually have a very helpful consult with a lawyer, but the issue is that when I was originally told that I would need a different plan to do so, I could get a refund for the original plan. Since then, though, my refund request has been refused, saying that they are nonrefundable. I could understand not being able to receive a refund for something like "I wasn't happy with the service," but that's not the case here. The plan I originally, due in large part to erroneus statements made to me by their ***** bought was literally useless to me. I did NOT receive any benefit from it -- I had to change plans to do so. UPDATE: I almost didn't file this complaint as shortly after I originally wrote it, someone from the company called me and informed me that I WAS getting my refund after all (in retrospect, I wish I had gotten her name, but never thought it would be an issue after that call)! But when after two weeks it never happened, and when I called to inquire about it, they denied that this call ever happened, thus making this all even worse!Business Response

I had a Legal Shield subscription. I wished to cancel it and found that I had to do it in writing. I did so and received a response to my email. This am; I saw that they had taken the next monthly payment from my bank account. I called ********************** and sought a refund for their error in charging me again.
