Hired to replace a sewer line. Actually caused damage to the line at the city main connection. Would not and could not repair their mistake and having to hire another contractor to repairBusiness Response
Date: 05/28/2025
Thank you for your feedback. Were sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience, and wed like to clarify a few key details.
Our team was called out to assess an issue surrounding your city sewer main that was contributing to a blockage. After completing our initial scope of work, your sewer system was functioning properly with no further issues at that time. Given the nature of underground utilities, it is not always possible to determine the exact condition of a city-installed tap, especially one that was installed over 20 years ago, until excavation is performed.
We began digging and reached a depth of approximately 34 feet, where we encountered a high groundwater table and confirmed the city tap was broken. Per your request, we paused work so the city could inspect their side of the line before we continued.
During this pause, another contractor was brought in without our knowledge. We later learned that they claimed we caused the damage and also criticized our pricing on a separate water repipe we completed in Januarya project that was quoted transparently, completed to code, and paid for in full. Since we were not present during their excavation, we cannot speak to their methods or whether further damage may have occurred at that time.
To continue the tap repair, that contractor used specialized vacuum equipment to manage the groundwateran approach we had already identified and discussed with you. We were fully capable of providing the same solution if given the opportunity to proceed.
Despite the time, labor, and equipment committed before the project was paused, we were not compensated for any portion of that work. You also requested a partial refund for the previously completed repipe, not due to any failure in our work, but based solely on the opinion of another contractor.
What remains unclear is why we were not given the chance to resume the job after the city completed its inspection. We stand behind our work and would have gladly addressed any concerns to see the project through. Instead, moving forward with a different contractor voided our warranty and left the job incomplete from our side.
We take pride in providing fair pricing, quality workmanship, and open communication. While we regret how this situation unfolded, we do not believe a refund is warranted for work that was completed properly or for services we were not allowed to finish.
We remain open to a professional conversation should you wish to discuss this further.Initial Complaint

1/4/25 Date of transaction I have requested a refund of their "Quality Club" membership 3 times now, with promises of a refund. I do not wish to be apart of this company in any capacity, they had me sign up under the impression that they would be performing a fair job at a fair price, and that this would aid in that job's cost. The job was never completed, therefore I never utilized this product and am in need of a refund.Business Response

We appreciate all feedback as it helps us improve our service. In every project we take on, we strive to be as transparent as possible about potential changes in scope once work begins, especially when dealing with underground piping. In your case, once we uncovered additional issues, we provided multiple options for moving forward, including both repair and full-solution approaches. When work was halted, we respected your decision and made multiple attempts to discuss the next steps. While we understand that another company may have taken over at a lower cost after our initial work, we want to clarify that we did not charge you for the portion of work we had started.Regarding the work performed, we removed the flooring neatly to access the plumbing, as agreed upon and outlined in the signed waiver. As we stated yesterday, your QCM has been processed for a refund, and due to the holiday, there may be a delay. If you have any further concerns, we are happy to discuss them with youInitial Complaint

Friday Mar 1, 2024 I signed an agreement with Quality Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, QHCP, to detected the water leak on my resident at ***************************************************** for $395.They came leaded by Mr ************** and they said they found the leak location in the area of a closet next to the hall & the man bathroom. They proposed to fix the leak for $2776 plus the Quality club fee for $14.99.Monday Mar 4, 2024 they sent a team, leaded by ******************, out to dig the location in the closet and at noon the fixing team stopped. **************** left because he could not locate the leak.A couple hour later Mr. ****** came back and spent anther couple hours and stopped. Conversing with the company and told me they did find the second location but they were afraid to dig anymore because it might busted the water pipes so they stopped. They told me to contact another company named American Leak Detection for detecting the leak.I did not agree saying a contract is a contract and they must complete the contract. They planned to leave telling me the manager will contact me later.15 minutes later they returned telling me that their boss will come tomorrow, Mar 5, 2024 to complete the detecting himself.Today Mar 5, 2024 at 1:45PM No one came and I did not hear anything about them. While doing the detecting the leak with the air pressure on the water heater, they broke both of my toilets. At *************** said they did not do that, that he found the busted location but did not tell me. I was bagging the company to fix it up at least one toilet for me to use. Mr. ****** told med that both of toilets were working. We both checked but after that left the water gradually raised past the top and water from the tank overflowed to the floor. Mar 26, 2024 Horizon ****************************** came to search the leak inside and outside and did not find any leaks on my toilets.***************Customer Answer

First day: Mar 1, 2024 Mar 1, 2024 Quality Heating, Cooling & Plumbing company came to detect the leak at my house I signed agreement for them to find the water leak at my resident for $395. They said they found the leak and signed a new agreement to come next to fix the leak for $2766. 2nd day Mar 4, 2024 They came to dig the ground in the closet to fix the leak. No leak was found and they busted my toilet valves in the process to find the leak. They said some other team will come back the next day to solve the problem. 3rd day Mar 5, 2024 1. Mar 5, 2024 at 4:06PM I received a text from Quality Heating, Cooling & Plumbing(QHCP) that their plumbers ******* and ***** just departed for ***********. 20 minutes later I saw a QHCP truck parked in front of my house. They just parked there for 10, 15 minutes. 3. ***** turned on the water meter lock and water petered out at the meter lock and told me the leak is here I told him he must line up the holes exactly aligned in order to open/close without water petering outside. 4. I show ******* both of the bathrooms telling him their air from the compressor without locking water to the toilets causing the valves to busted. 5. They mounted a pressure gauge to the outlet to check the water pressure. The pressure keeps going down in both locations meaning there is water leak because all the faucets and toilets were locked inside the house. 6. They brought the compressor equipment to the house acting as they were ready to check for the leak. 7. They came to me around 20 minutes later telling me they found the leak in the toilet of the bedroom. 8. The toilet valve at Lowes' is $18.95 and my 30 minutes to install instead of paying them $3200 to find the leak and fix it. 9. They credit me for $395. Wanting $250 for fixing toilet, another bill of $395 for finding the leak for this trip. 10. It looks as if they wanted the to sell lemonade to me for $395 and $250 . 11. I disputed the the payment of $395 to *****Business Response

************,
Thank you for reaching out with your concern and desired result. I want to start off by apologizing that this situation has turned into an issue, and we fully intend to make things right. First of all, we are processing a refund of $395 for leak detection services. This is due to the fact that we were unsuccessful in finding the leak the water department told him he had.
Second, we fully intend to return to backfill the hole, and concrete patch the area. This is the area that was jackhammered on March 4th. This will not be a charge since we were unsuccessful in pinpoint the leak.
In regards to your desired settlement, we are not obligated to complete the service requested after an unsuccessful attempt. It was solely an estimation of cost of services, agreed upon by you to move forward with the work as an attempt to locate the leak. In the estimate paperwork you signed, it states THIS IS AN ESTIMATE, NOT A CONTRACT FOR SERVICES. As stated above, we are refunding the $395 since we were unsuccessful in that endeavor, as well as return to concrete patch the hole that we jackhammered and excavated.
In regards to your toilets, I would like the opportunity for us to return and repair the toilets to normal working order. My technicians told me that the toilet issues existed prior to Quality HCPE arriving on site, but I would love to fix those issues, free of charge, since we were unsuccessful in locating the original problem (slab leak) and fixing it.
We will be reaching out to schedule a visit to concrete patch the hole. If you agree to let us repair the toilet issues, we will take care of that on the same visit.Customer Answer

1. I agree for Quality Heating Cooling & Plumbing for them to return to fill the hole either Monday Mar 11 or Tuesday Mar 12 after 1 PM. Please let me know early when they come so I can be at home.
2. My toilets weren't broken before they started their work as their employees claim.
3. I fixed both with parts costing me only $90 and an 60 minutes so I don't need them to fix for free.
4. Their team failed to detect the leak but it looked as if the compressed air through the water pipes did find the leak itself.

I had Roto Rooter come out and they unclogged my line and said there was now problem with the line and fixed it.
