    Business Response

    Date: 10/24/2023

This person purchased a rabbit fish from ** on 9/3/23.  I've attached a copy of the receipt which clearly states that we do not have a warranty on our fish.  We also have a sign posted that states that we do not have a warranty on our fish.  She contacted me via ******** on 10/5/23 with a picture of a clown fish with a spot on its fin, asking what to treat it with.  I recommended a medication (Kanaplex).  She lives over an hour away from out store and asked if she could purchase Kanaplex in her town.  I told her that I thought Petco or Petsmart might have it (they often do).  She purchased a DIFFERENT medication and sent us a picture asking if it was safe.  We don't sell the other medication, but it said on the bottle that it is safe for Saltwater fish, so we told her that we thought it would be fine. She indicated that all of her fish except the clownfish seemed fine when she was asking what to treat the clownfish with.  Her rabbitfish died after she used to medication.  She had the fish for over a month and we don't have a warranty, but we tried to help her determine what was wrong with her fish.
She came in to our store on 10//18/23 and purchased some medication, water, crabs and snails.  We did not verbally attack her, we attempted to help her figure out what was wrong with her fish tank and tried to help her understand that one of the things about owning an aquarium is that we cannot be there to look at our customer's tanks - they have to be responsible for their own aquarium.  She and her husband even thanked us when she left our store and seemed perfectly fine when they left.  I have a witness to the exchange that I had with her, they agree that she seemed happy when she left.  Most saltwater fish stores do not have a guarantee on their fish because saltwater fish are very delicate, we cannot control what happens to the fish once it is out of our possession.  I'm sorry that her fish died, but it isn't my responsibility.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
Steve the owner is a narcissistic person it's that simple he still refuses to acknowledge that he sold ** a sick fish and was extremely verbally abusive trying to blame us for the fish dying when it was his employees who said the medicine was safe aren't yall experts apparently not Steve also told us we need to take responsibility for the fish dying and we need to inspect every fish before purchase well maybe yall should inspect them before you sell them also I have plenty of screenshots where the owner himself trash talked us on ******** but then went and blocked me after spending over 2000.00$ I'd tell everyone stay away he couldn't even be bothered to make it right and what's your excuse for the snails we bought less than a week already being dead you tested our water hmmm I think the board of health should go in there check on all these animals

    Sincerely,
