1 starAbsolutely TERRIBLE company. I was being charged all through covid for my loans, when finally settling the issue to a fixed monthly agreeable payment, they dinged my credit score way down. TWO months after settling they started charging me interest every month that was on hold and started tacking it onto my monthly payments that were at a SET AMOUNT and told me its my fault. This loan company is a disgrace. Nobody is on the same page, apparently there are NO notes they put in the system, I sit on hold forever. DO NOT USE THEM!!Review fromSalve D

1 starI have to start off by saying this is a horrible company to handle student loan debt. I had a student loan debt that was past due since 4 years ago. I currently decided to make arrangements to pay the debt off for ***********************. Unfortunately, this is the company that handles the student loan debt for ***********************. I made payment arrangement to pay a certain amount every month until the debt is completely paid off. I started to pay the debt for 3 months now and I've noticed that this company was still reporting on my credit report that my debt is currently late. I thought that was oddly strange that I'm paying on time and more than the amount that I agreed on with the representative and my account was still reported as past due and no payment. I called Heartland.****.net contact number and was inquiring on why is the student loan company is still reporting every month that my account is past due and no payment is being made on the account. The representative I spoke with told me that even though I'm making payments on the account that after 9 months of on-time payments they will stop reporting every month to my credit report. They told me my payment arrangement was considered in a rehabilitation status. I explain to them I was not told this information that your company will continue to report in the future for 9 months that I'm late and no payments are being made. After 9 months, my account will be reported as good standing. I told them I did not agreed to that when I made my payment arrangement and that wasn't told to me by the representative who I set the arrangement with. They said I signed a document stating I agree on that and I told them I did not sign any documents stating that. I asked the company to provide those documents they claimed I signed and they couldn't because none exist. They did not help me any further. Even though you are paying them they will still report it on your credit that your not paying. BEWARE OF THE DEAL YOU MAKE WITH THEM!Review fromTD

1 starCompletely inconvenient. I couldn't get the website to work and had not received any emails as to low balances. Every time I tried to log into the website it wouldn't work; it would tell me I was either already logged in, or that the page had expired. I ended up calling to get a balance. When I called they said "we would be happy to process a payment for you since the website IS NOT working for you." Then charged me a convenience fee which they cover up by calling a "program fee." However, if that were the case, any money my child put on his account AT the school, a fee would be taken out of that because of the program fee, but it's not because I called the school and I asked them. So yes it is a convenience fee not a program fee. Any other time I would be completely okay with a convenience fee because I understand it but, if I can't get into your website because of something on your end, Then that is not a convenience to me and you're just charging me to charge me.Review fromAshley C

1 starI have spent more time on hold than talking to the actual person and that is after they said hello. I spent 30 minutes on the phone to basically be told that the payment I wanted to make had to be done through the website and not the app. I asked to verify spelling and was initially told no, then they come back and ask again on the email and spelling, 5 minutes could have been saved there alone. I spent another 6 to 7 minutes waiting for her to tell me the app payment didn't go through, well I already knew that so another waste. There is nothing on the app that says anything about primary billing having to be changed for a payment so maybe add something other than an advertisement on the app.Review fromMartha P

1 starIf I could give them 0 stars I would. After months of them hounding me with sales calls, we made the decision to transition to heartland. It was one of the WORST decisions, EVERYTHING that could go wrong has gone wrong costing me THOUSANDS of dollars and unmeasrable headaches in an already challenging season in my business. They are TERRIBLE at everything. Run don't walk! You will regret it. They are great at sales but that's about it. I have over 130 employees, they didn't extract pto/sick time, benefits deductions, for 3 months straight we have errors every pay period, it's caused us soooo much extra work, time and money, I can't begin to tell you how much I hate heartland.Review fromHylda G

1 starI am submitting this on behalf of my daughter, who pays what her monthly student loan statement says is due before her due date every single month. When she received her January 2023 statement, she paid the amount due of $230+/- before the due date of 2/10/23. Despite the fact that she paid on time and that her payment was accepted, ECSI tacked on $100+/- more in "interest" and said that amount was also due on 2/10, and then charged her a late fee when she didn't pay it. When she called customer service, they had the audacity to tell her she accrued more interest because she paid her bill too early, and that she "should make her payments on the due date, not before!!! REALLY?!?!?What really happened is that ECSI didn't process her payment correctly. I fully understand interest accrues daily, but when a client pays the stated amount due on the monthly statement and they pay ahead of the due date, (I DON'T CARE WHAT COMPANY YOU ARE), you don't get to add to the amount due after the fact and then charge late fees!! If I could give less than ZERO stars, I would. ECSI is as inept as can be.Review fromEvan P

1 star**** Heatland is the worst loan service I have ever dealt with.I had an automatic payment set up so would be sure to never miss a payment; they canceled my automatic payment method WITHOUT my permission, and did not notify me they did it. I then did not recieve bills by paper or email, despite never going paperless. When I finally did find out my payments were late, they had failed to notify and communicate with me until 45 days after the fact. By then, not only was I late due to their doing whatever they did or didn't do, they threatened to send my loan into default and to collections. Their communications and customer service is completely nonexistent. They consistently are the last company to get me my tax papers in an appropriate time.I cannot wait to never do business with **** Heartland again.Review fromChristine R

1 starExceptionally poor customer service! After several unsuccessful online attempts (over 10 tries) to login to my account, I tried to update my password which also did not work. Therefore, I called for support (multiple times). Eventually, after a 23 minute wait, I was able to speak to a representative who said she was part of a very large team. This makes no sense to me since it was so difficult to get through, took an exceptionally long wait time, and had no other options but to wait on the phone (couldn't leave a call back number or chat online). Then, after I explained my problem, her first response was "I'm sorry for your inconvenience, can I take you balance payment over the phone?" NO! I'd like support logging in so I can see my balance first. In addition, I have a remaining balance from an older child who has not been in the school system for 4 year. I cannot request a refund nor can I apply that balance to my current child's balance. What happens to that money?Review fromDarrell T

1 starVery disrespectful Company and horrible credit card service and card machines that break down all the time. They cost my company thousands of dollars. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE. Their rep called me asking to get my business back for my company. I told them I'm not interested and on the NO CALL LIST. He calls back 4 more times to argue with me. Very unprofessional rep. I would rate them 0/5 if I could. When they came to fix THEIR software issues they charge us to send out an IT personnel to fix the issues additional to the exceptionally high service fees.Review fromClarissa B

1 starIf you are a college or grad student, please DO NOT take out a loan with Heartland ESCI. DO NOT. I took a loan out while I attended **** (c/o '14) and am just about to finish paying off the loan in Oct 2022. Initially it seems like a great idea because the loan amount is very low and while in repayment you pay 4 months out of the the year (eg. I repay every Jan, Apr, July, and Oct) of every year. This has turned out to be one of the worse experiences. My first issues with this company was that they would also recommend you go paperless for correspondence. I did. However, the company is horrible with correspondence. I never got any emails informing me about upcoming repayments. One time I actually missed a payment and the company offered no ***** when I explained I hadn't received correspondence. Their recommendation was for me to go back to having paper correspondence. I did. Recently, the company has a system error where consumers were sent emails saying they were behind on payments. You can imagine the inconvenience this was for many people. I tried to get a hold of a live agent for over two days. When I finally got a hold of someone I was given an "I'm sorry". Extremely frustrating that consumers are expected to have all the patience and ***** the company makes a mistake but the same is NOT reciprocated when the company makes a mistake. Please don't do it. Don't work with this company.
