Parker Brothers replaced my roof and gutters on 5 July 2023 for $24,461.37. They did not replace the chimney flashing when they put down plywood sheeting. They also used three-tab ridge cap shingles instead of the required architectural ridge shingles. Fearing damage to my new roof if they replaced the ridge shingles, I accepted the installed ridge shingles, but was not compensated for any cost difference. Around 26 January ****, I saw water dripping from the porch ceiling. I followed it to the chimney chase. Moving the vinyl soffit down, water poured out. I pushed up on a bulge on the vinyl ceiling and about a half-gallon of water poured out. I suspected a chimney flashing problem and notified Parker Brothers on Monday, 29 Jan. A worker came to caulk the lower corners of the chimney and said that was all he could do. The following weekend we had more rain, and the leaking was worse. I called Parker Brothers on Monday, 5 Feb, and asked them to send someone over to investigate the issue. They said someone would be over to look at it. No one showed, so I contacted other roofing companies. On 7 Feb, not hearing anything from Parker Brothers, I had another company give me an estimate. The other company came the next day, and I showed them the problem. He explained what he would do, and I hired him to fix the problem at a cost of $3,500. With more rain forecasted over the weekend, I feared more damage to my house if nothing was done. Work started Friday morning and finished by late afternoon. Parker Brothers called me at 9:30 that Friday morning and said they were sending a crew over but didnt say what they would do. I told them that since I never heard back from them, I already hired another company to fix the problem. I reviewed my original insurance claim and saw that Parker Brothers had already been paid $420.95 to replace the chimney flashing, which they didnt do. I also had the other company install the architectural ridge shingles for an additional $2,000.

We appreciate you reaching out regarding these concerns. We honor our warranty and will address any issue that occurs. We show on our records we roofed your home on 7/5/23 and we did not complete any chimney work. Our records show you hired a chimney company to complete all chimney work. Your concern regarding the leak around the chimney occurred in January and immediately sent our tech, free of charge, to seal around the chimney flashing. This is where the roof meets the chimney, not the chimney itself. We were made aware that the chimney was still leaking. We were called on the 5th and we had our tech scheduled to inspect the issue again on the 7th, but we were informed you wanted to use another company. The chimney was not completed by us, but we believe this issue is resulting from the chimney itself, not the roof or flashing. We were only hired to do the roof, not the chimney work.

The project manager made you aware of the issue regarding the ridge and expressed that we would replace the ridge immediately. However, you told us you did not want us to replace the ridge.

You are more than welcome to call the office ************ to discuss this situation more in detail. We are a trusted and reliable company. We value you and your business and do our best to provide the best service. Once made aware of any issue, we always address it and make the situation right.

      Thank you,

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The problem was not with the chimney, but the chimney flashing. Parker Brothers never replaced the flashing as they were supposed to do, When I never heard back from Parker Brothers for 4 days on how they were to address the problem before the predicted rain, I was left with no choice but to hire another company. The other company replaced the flashing and the leaking problem was resolved. I feel I should be compensated for the flashing replacement and the material cost difference for the use of cheaper ridge shingle materials.
      Sincerely,
