    Hoping to save you embarrassment and financial burden, I am writing this to hopefully inform you of what can happen if you don't learn from our mistakes. After a storm, Rescom Roofing & Construction came to our door to talk about our roof. They seemed very friendly, trustworthy & relatable. They gave us a paper (called a contingency agreement) that we signed telling us it gave them permission to speak to our insurance company on our behalf. Because of how trusting we are, we very stupidly signed the paper without reading it, including any provision that locked us in with them no matter what under threat of heavy financial penalty. After we did some research on this company, we found things about them that deeply concerned us and that made us feel uneasy continuing with them. Unfortunately, thanks to the paper we signed, Rescom told us it was not an option. In fact, without receiving so much as an invoice, we received a letter from Rescoms attorney giving us 2 options: allow them to do the roof job or pay almost $4,500. Mind you, Rescom has performed no labor on my roof, ordered no materials, and merely walked our roof and spoke with our insurance on our behalf. Our roof has not been touched since meeting with the insurance adjuster and them having to come back for more pictures. Having 5 kids, this economy, and a brand new business starting up, that amount of money is a lot PLUS we still have to get our roof fixed. We offered $1500 to compensate them for their time, but that was unacceptable under threat of a lawsuit. We will be okay but I will not run my business like this and I dont think it is right. Others might not have the same circumstances. In the end, I can't speak on Rescoms roofing or construction work because I haven't experienced it, but before deciding to hire them please do your research on this company. Also, no matter how friendly, please read every single word before signing anything.
