It took them 3 months to restore our 22 sq ft bathroom. Original estimate was $1700. After the work was completed we received a new estimate for $3900!!! We tried scheduling an appointment to discuss the bill and kept getting put off by the *** ******. Their sub contractor filed a lien on our house because they didnt pay him. His bill to Burggraf was $2350. Our attorney negotiated the bill to $2800. Totally tried to rip us off for about $1000!!!

What the customer doesn't understand is that there was $600.00 worth of material in addition to the subcontractors $2,350.00 labor which brings it up to just under $3,000.00. So, no one is getting "Ripped Off". We accepted $2,800.00 to appease the customer and try to rectify the situation because of unforeseen delays. So, in the long run, we ended up eating $150.00 at the end of the day. We tried renegotiating with the customer for $3,300.00 and they wouldn't accept that either. When estimates are given in the restoration industry, there are plenty of unforeseens that we deal with every day and estimates are subject to change.

Long story short. Called out per sewage overflow in my parents home. By the time they got there, 'waters had been removed' per family. 5 people showed up. (main guy, son, and 3 hispanics) Main guy explained paperwork for parents to sign. He explained to other 4 people what needed to be done. Partial removal of carpet in bedroom, closet and baseboards. This was bagged and left on curb to be picked up the following day. Fans were left. Supposedly some type of solution sprayed. The did come the next day, removed bags on curb and checked to see how room(s) were drying. Finally got an INVOICE. Almost $2000.00 dollars! No breakdown per the invoice submitted. My sister called company asking about the description on invoice. No real explanation given. Explained to company that there was no removal of waters. That had already done. How were the charges so much for such little work done. Myself also called to get a better understanding to and why not a breakdown of work rendered. Answer: "That's how all our invoices look." Who's to say the work for removing ****** wasn't included in those fees? How were they charged for the fans? Daily, hourly? If it was me, they would never got paid until a PROPER INVOICE of a breakdown was submitted. My parents paid them in full! H*** no!! I think BURGGRAPH RESTORATION is a big rip-off. Even a car dealership (if work done) as well as other companies give a breakdown of work rendered. You mean to tell me a BIG COMPANY can't give a invoice with a proper description instead of 2 or 3 words to explain charges and fees? I wouldn't refer them if you asked for a company who does this type of work. Or could it be lazy office workers? 2 workers handling paperwork in a cheap office space with only limited experience with computers and uses only one version of an application to submit a proper invoice. Ridiculous. Unprofessional. Not worthy of any business for any human being.

It always amazes me how customers who call in for SEWAGE, which is considered a category 3 water loss, are surprised of what it cost to mitigate the loss. I understand that the customer was wanting an estimate (breakdown) and apologize that they didn't get one immediately, we can't provide an accurate estimate until the loss is complete due to not knowing what has to be done until all the work is completed. Category 3 water is grossly contaminated and every person we send out to mitigate the loss is taking a risk and businesses charge a premium to clean this up, and the insurance companies we work with pay the premium because of this. The customer should get a breakdown of the charged mailed to them at the end of the day.

One of the worst experiences of our lives dealing with this company. We have been trying to deal with them since December regarding an apartment fire. The estimate kept going up, even after demo was completed and i was told would go no higher, since that was all of the money we could afford to fix our garage apartment. I can understand estimate going up, but 3 times, even after I was told if we would have electrical completed ourselves ($11,000.00). Insurance was not paying for this. Burggraf went from $28,000.00 to $34,000.00 to over $42,000.00! We would have never begun this if we would have known. I have never felt so disrespected by anyone. I was belittled by the estimator(Patrick) too many times. Even the Asst GM told me that the price increase was a lot and he would check in to that... 3 weeks ago! We paid for the demo and now we are out of luck, My 82 yr old father has used his life savings for this... Now after all of this.. I am told by SO MANY that Burggraf is horrible to deal with. 1 star because the demo crew was great, when there... I don't know if Burggraf has something against woman, or older men, but we were treated so poorly! Not contract was ever signed or we would be in Court! Thinking about contacting local news station. sad stuff!

We apologize that the customer had such a bad experience, and after reviewing the job with the estimator assigned to the job, there were several variables controlling the outcome of the different estimates. This home is a older home with plaster walls, and the estimator originally wrote the estimate to clean everything after they're fire in order to try and keep the costs down. After the cleaning crews started there cleaning process, we realized that the plaster would not clean and had to rewrite the estimate a couple of times through out the process. Unfortunately, in our industry we can't see always foresee all the damage and there has to supplements filed throughout the construction phase. In this instance the customers claim was denied so they were paying out of pocket which is even more frustrating. We do apologize and wish the customer the best.
