Pattern of Complaints
On September 11, 2015, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding advertising issues. Consumers allege that Records Recovery Service LLC mails a notice to consumers requesting they pay $87 to receive a copy of their deed and property profile. Consumers claim the notice is misleading, as it appears to be an invoice or bill. Consumers further allege the notice does state it is a solicitation of services and is not a bill. The notice allegedly states Records Recovery Service LLC is not affiliated with the county in which the consumer's deed is filed, and it is not affiliated with any government agency.
It is further alleged that once payment is
issued to the business, consumers learn they may obtain a copy of their property deed for a nominal fee from their county clerk's office.
To date, the company has not responded to BBB’s request to address the pattern.
