21st century tow started to hook up my car on April 9th around 4:00 p.m. on the corner of Ash and 124th in Southeast ********. My e-brake is on and it is a manual. He said I was parked blocking a crosswalk and I've never had issues parking there before and everybody in my building takes that parking spot as well. He hooked up my car and started Towing it and as he was driving down the street my boyfriend and I both saw the car started to smoke and at that point ran after the car and got inside and stopped the toe and paid him to put my car down but he ruined my back brakes and I'm trying to file a claim with the tow company and get compensated for the $200 I paid to have my car put down. They are denying faultInitial Complaint

The tow truck came into my apartments and hooked my car up to their tow truck. When I came outside to tell them hey I live here and I have a parking pass, he proceeded to tell me he will drop it for a fee. I told him no he's going to drop it for free and I'm calling the police. while on the phone with the 911 operator he screamed at me to get the f*** out his face. The operator told me that they have been getting calls like this lately, saying tow truck drivers are picking up nice vehicles and waiting for the owners to come outside so they can pay to get their vehicles dropped. When I told the tow truck driver that the police were on the way he said he's going to do me a favor and drop it. The next day the tow truck driver came and seen me in my car and did a U turn and left. Then the next day they drove in directly to my car in my parking spot and hooked it up. I watched them do it. Then I go outside and ask what are you doing? He says he was waiting for me to come outside. I told him to drop my car now. He told me I need to speak nicely to him. I told him to drop my car and leave me alone. I called the company and spoke to the supervisor ****, but he proceeded to laugh at me when I told him what was going on. He said they are going to keep doing it and they have no solution . So I hung up on him because he was no help.Initial Complaint

My car, a 2014 ***** 3, was towed Saturday August 13th from *************. For background, I moved into these apartments the last week of July, but have not had my car. My car is being used by my boyfriend, who is in the military, stationed in ****************. Hes using my car for awhile so he doesnt have to buy a new one to sit for 9 months while he is deployed. Friday evening was the first time Id seen him since moving into these apartments so the first thing on my mind was not to put my parking pass in the car window. My car was towed out of the spot that I pay for. Around 6 AM the tow company came through checking cars for passes and since mine wasn't in my window, they towed my car. I called at 8:07 AM and was scheduled an appointment at 10 AM to get my car back, and waited until 10:45 AM for someone to show up and give me my car back. When I tried to pay cash, no change was available, and the driver informed me they knew nothing of having to give change by the end of next business day and told me Id have to contact the owners for this information. The individual who gave me my car back said 21st Century Towing provides and posts the signs at lots they patrol. My property manager confirmed a sales rep placed the signs. Per *********** Municipal Code (OCMC) properties in ****** City R2 zoning districts (OCMC *****) are permitted (2) ancillary signs. There are significantly more ancillary signs posted on property than are permitted by the Citys Zoning Code, and no permits for these signs. Further OCMC Chapter 5 requires a business license for tow companies, and I confirmed that 21st Century Towing doesn't have a license. I'm wondering if a company who doesn't follow the municipal code and get approval to post their signs and doesn't have a business license, actually have the authority to tow my car and charge me $400 to get it back. It seems questionable.
