Chip drop had an arborist drop off a load of 100% brush and branches. Its not chips or logs or anything I signed up for. Its blocking my driveway and crushing my plants on the right side outside of the driveway. As well as blocking the sidewalk. Chip drop states it only will leave what can be moved with two hands. This load would take days and hours to move and I have no where to put branches like this. This is ridiculous it was ever dumped in my driveway in the first place. These branches need to be removed from my driveway The arborist texted me and I said I was not home. And he said he had mostly wood and brush and I texted back and said chips? What do you mean by brush? And he came and dropped it off any way?Business Response

********* reached out to us recently through email, we are still working through that and are hoping to reach a resolution soon. The arborist delivered a load of branches and not logs.Initial Complaint

they dropped diseased chips after we told the crew to leave our property and not drop them and not return. They purposely suffocated our expensive landscaping including flowers and trees we had just planted. The diseased chips infected the rest of our landscaping and we now have thousands of dollars worth of damage. They admitted it was wrong and then did nothing about it. They literally did this a few days before Christmas. The crew hid out and waited for a time that we would leave to sneak back on the property and dump it exactly where they knew not to dump it. We even had it displayed on the chip drop website to contact us first and only dump in another spot. We told them several times.Business Response

*********** reached out to us in regards to this drop back in 2022. The drop happened on the 19th of December and He (or his daughter) gave permission to the arborist to bring a second load of woodchips outside of our service (ChipDrop). He complained about this, but the arborist sent over the texts showing they gave permission to drop at their residence a second time as well as a picture of where to drop the mulch. Since this was outside of our service it doesn't fall under our banner or terms, but even thought it falls outside of our umbrella the drop was made where they requested it.Initial Complaint

I signed up for Chip Drop and on 3-18-24 received a message that an arborist--Tippy Top Tree-- would be dropping off a load of wood chips at my house.Chip Drop partners with local arborists to drop off wood chips at residences free of charge. Their terms of service state that the **** load will be 20 cubic yds. I understood this and was willing to accept that amount. However, the load dropped off appeared to be double that amount--40 cubic yds. And, strangely, the arborist contacted Chip Drop saying they were unable to drop any load at all:"The arborist who was supposed to drop woodchips...reported that they could not drop for the following reason:'Our crew didn't need a drop site after all. Sorry for the trouble. Please add yourself back to the list if you'd still like to receive a delivery.'"I confirmed with Chip Drop that the load had been dropped and I didn't need any more, despite what the arborist said.On 3/31, having used what I calculated to be 20 cubic yds, I contacted Chip Drop with pictures asking if I had received a double load. They said I probably didn't understand how much 20 cubic yards is, said I should provide camera footage, and said that the arborist (whom they now named Axl and not Tippy Top Tree) has good standing with them.I don't have camera footage, so replied on 4/1/24 with pictures and videos measuring out the pile that was left (I had received two equal piles, which I initially provided photos of) and showing how it matched the space where I had used the other pile (which can be seen from the wood chips still on the ground). My measurements showed about 20' by 14' by 4' (~41 cubic yards) had been dropped.I am awaiting a reply from Chip Drop about the actual arborist involved/amount dropped.Business Response
Date: 04/04/2024
****** has reached out to us about this delivery, and it is with our internal team for review, so we can discuss the amount that was dropped. The asking of camera footage was in relation to the chance that two drops happened instead of just one and the mention of Axl is a part of our team who first took ******'s email. Axl was not the arborist/company who made the drop.Customer Answer

I ordered some woodchips on ChipDrop. In my request I specified that I do not want softwood, but this morning I woke up to a massive pile of softwood on my property. The tree company that dumped the chips cannot be contacted. Additionally, the huge amount of woodchips have bended my fence.Business Response
Date: 02/27/2024
***** has reached out to us about this drop already through our emails. This is the second drop she has received from us the first was softwood also and she sent us an email about that as well. We let her know in that first contact that we don't provide anyway to specify what type of woodchips she will receive, so if she's looking specifically for hardwood we wouldn't recommend using our service for that. She put in another request attempting to specify what she would like even though we informed her our service doesn't work like that and she got this load.
As for the bent fence, we are getting into contact with her now as the arborist shouldn't have dropped the load in a way that would damage the fence.

I am rejecting this response because: In the request field, the user interface says "Are there any species of wood or woodchips that you absolutely cannot receive? This will increase your wait time for a ChipDrop." So I listed the trees I cannot receive and I was willing to wait for the right woodchips. I listed softwood instead of the species such as fir, pine and cedar before it was easier. My request should be respected instead of ignored. If ChipDrop arborists think my "don't want" list is too long, I'd expect to wait for a long time and not receiving a drop, instead of a drop a few hours later containing 100% of the stuff I don't want. You don't think this is disrespectful and irresponsible? If requesting certain type of wood cannot be accommodated, it should be clearly stated on the user interface.I am requesting the woodchips to be picked up ASAP.
Thank you.

This is a letter i email to chipdrop. I would like to tell you that my last request for chipdrop couple weeks ago was delivered to wrong house it was on neighbor driveway. That's giving me a hard time to hurry move woodchip out of there driveway before they come home. From now on any miss delivery is not my fault it's the truck driver fault and responsible to come back and clean up their mess. The neighbor may call police due to the careless mistake the arborist made. I made copies of this letter just in case. I know woodchip are good for gardeners but not good when arborist delivery to wrong house. ********************Business Response

This gardener reached out and sent us this exact email. We've received it and are working to get more information from them. Drops shouldn't go to another person's address ever and we're making sure that their address was registered correctly and will take the appropriate precautions moving forward.Initial Complaint

I contacted Chipdrop about a truckload of mulch that was dumped in my driveway blocking both gates and access to the garage. They said they wont be able to get it picked same same day but asked me details. I sent them all the information including pictures they asked for. I specified the trash and dirt in the load . I had specifically asked not to send eucalyptus and I complained about that too . After I sent more than ************** a few emails they stopped responding.Business Response
Date: 10/23/2023
We're in the middle of assisting with this issue so we expect it may be a couple more days. We're reaching out to the tree company to ask if there was eucalyptus in the load, and also to let them know about the excessive amount of trash. There's not a lot we can do to assist, but we can try our best to verify any species concerns with the tree company, and also to let the company know to try and keep as much trash as possible out of future ChipDrop deliveries.Initial Complaint

I received my chip drop off on 10/12/23. I was glad it was here, however when I started moving what I thought would be mulch , it was all stringy and there was a lot of logs . I specifically requested for NO logs. I didnt want to be ungreatful for the free mulch by a lot **** it are just badly chopped sticks. I know the company itself isnt really to blame since the arborist are the ones dropping off what they have, I just wished it would be better monitored by the company. I have reached out to customer service, and as of now all Ive gotten is that they want More pictures, which have been sent. I just really want the company to pick up what they dropped off . I have tried to advertise so people can come and pick up whatever wood they like and chips ( not that theres a lot chips) so hopefully we can sort it out. Sadly this will be my only and last time I use it .Business Response

We reviewed the pictures that ***** sent over, and we determined that while the wood chips were a bit stringy, they were still within our Terms of Service and very usable as a mulch product. Regarding the logs, there were logs in the load that should not have been there, but it did not look like very many based on the pictures. We've reached out to the tree company and ask that they help by picking up those extra logs, so we'll wait and hear back what they say.Initial Complaint

We received notice about this complain and attempted to reach out to the homeowner to ****** more details about the drop, but failed to receive a reply from them.
We couldn't find the users account through our service, and thus assume that this load of mulch wasn't dropped through our service.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023 we arrived home to our house and found our driveway full of large tree pieces. We proceeded to call the police and try to identify who dropped the trees. On Monday, July 31, ******** ************ showed up and started to drop a truckload of wood chips. Fortunately my husband saw the truck and we were able to stop the dump. It was then that we realized that chipdrop.com was giving our address out to companies to drop logs and wood chips. We reached out to chipdrop. They apologized and provided us with the information that was submitted to them. The phone number was an out of state phone number. The name was not an owner of the property. The notes "Please dump entire load in driveway. If we are parked in driveway when you arrive, please dump load at end of driveway. We work from home and usually bicycle to local destinations- don't worry about dumping behind the cars if you need to. Please do not disturb by knocking or ringing doorbell. Text if you absolutely need to." were clearly not written by someone who wanted a delivery. The trees are blocking access to our home including the charger for my electric car. I cannot find a company to assist with removal. Chip drop has offered up to $400 but will not provide the name of the company that dropped the material. Chip drop has suggested multiple times that I allow strangers to come cut up and take the wood - the liability that comes with such a ridiculous suggestion is unacceptable. I need Chip Drop to get the tress removed ASAP as my car is presently under 50% charged.Business Response

This was a very unfortunate situation where someone had signed ******* up to receive a delivery of wood chips without her permission. We have several checks in place to prevent this from happening, but a very determined person skirted these checks. We provided all of our information that we had about the request to *******, and we blocked her address in our system to ensure that it couldn't happen again. We offered ******* $400 for the removal of the material, and indicated that we could not assist her in physically removing the material ourselves. She indicated that she was able to find someone to remove the material for this price. As far as we know the issue was resolved at that point.Initial Complaint

I signed up for a chip drop. I understood that they the chips would be of variable quality and come from a local arborist. The website said you need a drive way or space. I submitted a picture of the space I have. The arborist chose to dump in one motion rather than to reposition their truck to ensure that the wood chips are on my property/driveway. Instead they dumped in one motion and dumped half of the chips in the public alley leaving half of my driveway empty. Chip drop will not respond to my calls/emails and the arborist keeps saying I agreed to the drop and will not take accountability for the fact that they clearly dumped on what is not my property despitehaving a picture ahead of time of my drive and my property line/fence line being clearly marked. I'm also upset that chip drop Waiting until AFTER your drop to warn you that the wood chips are giving off dust and gasses that are dangerous to your ************* As an asthmatic and a mother to a 5 year old I would have never signed up for anything that is a danger to my asthma or my 5 yo son.Business Response

We received an original complaint from M ******* regarding the delivery not being placed in the exact location where it was requested. On reviewing the pictures they sent, we determined that it was pretty darn close, and was within reason. The tree company indicated that they couldn't maneuver the truck exactly where it was requested. We cover this in our informational videos on our website: ****************************
M ******* had a large list of species that they did not accept, which typically is an indication that ChipDrop is not the best service to use. When you have a large list of species that you don't want to accept covering both hardwoods and softwoods, its very difficult for the arborist to accommodate this request. However, we never received any images of the material that would indicate that it included a species that was on the not accept list.
Wood chip material is an organic material. It is alive with oranisms that are constantly breaking it down, including mold and mycelium and all kinds of bugs and insects. It is great for plants and soil. That said, it is never good to breathe it in. We cover this in our informational material on our website: **********************************************************
