I signed up for the wood chip/mulch service from Chip Drop. I received more than 50% leaves (fronds) even though their website says up to 50%. It cannot be used. I contacted the company and the provider and have not received a response. What I received was not what I signed up for.

We reviewed the pictures that ***** sent ** and determined that this was an acceptable delivery of palm mulch.  It was clear that ***** was not expecting to receive palm.  However, we don't specifically exclude palm from deliveries unless the customer specifies this in their request, which ***** had not.  We informed ***** that, while it might not have been what they were expecting, it is still a great mulch material, and will have substantial benefits for their yard and garden.  You just need a pitchfork and wheelbarrow to move it, which is not uncommon for many types of arborist wood chip mulch.  We have more information about palm mulch on our website here: getchipdrop.com/expectations/#palm

Date of transaction is July 6th 2023. Was supposed to receive wood chips from chip drop as was started on their website but instead I received crumbled up palm tree and garbage included. I cant use this for anything in my backyard and I have a stick hoa that says it has to go ASAP. I didnt even see the company that dropped it off or I works have stopped them from dumping their garbage which covered my entire driveway. I should not have to pay to have this removed as this was not what was to be expected. Im very disappointed. Sadly I initially was very excited for this as Ive seen many people get actual wood chips. Please please please arrange to have some come back and pick this up. Thank you for your time

We received the complaint from *** and assessed that the material they received was consistent with our Expectations of Service: getchipdrop.com/expectations

The image that *** attached here is the same one that she sent to us.  It's clear that she received a delivery of palm, and it had been well shredded and chipped so as to make an appropriate mulch material.  Our primary consideration when reviewing cases like this is does the material adhere to our Expectations of Service, and can the material reasonably be used as a mulch.  We don't have insights into each individual's use case, so it is up to the person placing the request to know if there are any species that they don't want, and to list those in their request.  We have an entire section in our Expectations of Service dedicated to palm to warn folks that palm could be included, unless the specify otherwise: getchipdrop.com/expectations/#palm.  Some folks really like palm.  It makes a great mulch.

We feel really bad that *** received a material that she couldn't use, and also for the delay in responding to this BBB complaint.  We try really hard to set expectations with the information and videos on our website.

Elite Tree Trimming delivered a dump truck size load of "wood chips" in my front driveway. I am the home owner and I did NOT order this load. I spoke to ***** who stated that someone claiming to be a tenant had made the order, however, this is a vacant property and Elite Tree Trimming NEVER attempted to knock on the door for confirmation...This huge pile of MOSTLY GRASS takes up most of my driveway and part of the next door NEIGHBORS yard. In addition, the load was pushed up against the side gate, BLOCKING ACCESS to and from the back yard. I spoke to ***** on the phone and he agreed to have the load picked up the following week (***** said this was the soonest). Spoke to ***** again when I called the day before to confirm the appointment. Elite Tree Trimming FAILED to show for the scheduled appointment...made several attempts to contact them by phone, NO ANSWER.

We have not received any notification from ********* about the delivery.  They would need to email us at our support email address which is *********************************** with the attached photo.  From there we can look up the delivery in our system and see if the request came through our company.  If it was a ChipDrop request, and ********* had not ordered it, we could help them with the removal of the material, or at least with compensation for some of the removal fees.  We handle these types of situations on a case by case basis and try to get all of the facts before we determine the best resolution.

Chip drop did a drop off after I cancelled, I spoke to the arborist as well and he said okay I wont do the drop off. I still got a huge drop off blocking my entire drive way and access to my shared garage with cars in it. Nobody from the company is responding and the arborist is saying he didnt do it because he knows I canceled.

We do give folks an easy way to cancel their request through the website.  However, once a delivery is in progress, cancelling is much more difficult, because the truck may be on the way.  I'm not sure who exactly the homeowner spoke with, but it's possible there was a miscommunication within their company, and they weren't able to call off the truck driver in time.  I'm just not sure.  It's very unfortunate, but we reviewed the pictures of the material and they were good wood chips.

This is my second time receiving a Chip Drop delivery. I was home when the company that dropped off mulch arrived (I was told the delivery came the previous day, but it had not). I went out and greeted them. They found the location easily and said it would be perfect. It was very windy, so I went inside and watched as they emptied their truck. As the driver tried to knock all the last bits from the truck, he started going forward and then backing up very fast, ramming into the pile of mulch and pushing it so that our fence was pushed in and broke, I ran out to stop him, but it was too late. About a ***** foot section of cedar wood fence was ruined. The driver suggested I "prop up the fence". He also said, "Sorry. I didn't know there was that much in there". Since then we have contacted Chip Drop and the tree company several times. The guy who dropped the mulch said they would come and fix the fence with a 2x4 once the mulch was removed!!! The supporting posts, placed in concrete) have been pushed over or snapped. We need this fence replaced. It is not fixable.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/17/2023

We were informed about the damage to the fence and reviewed the pictures.  We recommended that the homeowner first reach out to the tree company directly for repairs to the fence.  That was on April 3rd and we never heard back after that. If the fence has not been repaired and the tree company is not responding, please reach out to our support team and we can take the next steps.

I cancelled an order for chip delivery after the truck arrived and was too heavy and sinking into the grass. tearing up the yard. the company also posted a note unable to deliver due too soft yard. I also texted the company explaining the cancellation. And received a reply of understanding. I have found days later that a delivery has been made. without my consent. In my yard on top and next to a previous delivery made months ago when the ground supported it, by a different company. I noticed the delivery on friday after the rain, when I spotted new damage made in my yard the grass had been dug up, and truck tracks overlaid the lawn mower tracks from the wednesday prior. I then saw the additional new chips and smelled them. I was my yard repaired and the wood chip lveled since they cant be removed.

This company facilitated dumping waste on my property without my permission. Various companies use their "service" to determine where to dump their waste but they have zero checks or verification in the process to determine if the location being serviced is owned by the person requesting the service.

The owner of the household where the wood chips were delivered wrote in to complain about the delivery, stating that he was not aware of the request for delivery and should have been notified.  We mentioned to the owner that the request was a valid request by someone on the property who clearly intended to use the wood chips.  We asked if the homeowner knew this person but they did not respond.  We mentioned to the homeowner that the dispute was between them and the person who placed the request.  The wood chips looked great.

I received a chip drop (truck load of wood chips) after signing up on chipdrop.com on September 17, 2022. After receiving the wood chips, somehow the drop was registered in their system as unsuccessful. I emailed customer service letting them know I did get a load of wood chips, mostly because I didn't want to get another in error. After this, I had no requested services in their system. However, I received another drop on September 28th. I reached out to customer service. ******* responded right away and asked for pictures and questioned if I saw the company who dropped them off. I emailed pictures, and said I did not see who made the drop. I emailed 3 times after this, requesting they rectify this error, and they have never responded. A truck of wood chips is 20 cubic yards, and I had no use for them, nor any way of disposing of them.

We are aware of this situation and in communication with the homeowner.  We do not automatically add people back to the list or renew a request if a delivery attempt is unsuccessful (for reasons exactly like this one).  Therefore, there's no indication that the second delivery she received was related to the first delivery attempt that was marked as failed.  We mentioned to the homeowner that we only have one drop record in our system for this address, and so if it was a second delivery related to a ChipDrop request, it would have been from the same company that delivered the first load, and that she should reach out to the company and ask them if they did in fact deliver 2 loads by mistake.  We have also followed up with the tree company to inquire about this as well.

August 17th 2022. I reached out to a company called chipdrop.com. Basically it is a company that will provide you with wood chips for free. I added my name to the list and would told I would be contacted. I received a phone call yesterday I am assuming from the delivery company. I was not provided a name or anything, I did not think that I needed to ask that question. All the gentleman said was where do you want me put the wood chips. I told him on the right side of the driveway. I come home and the whole right side of my driveway is covered with wood chips and there is alot of it that has tree limbs and part of tree trunks in it. I can not pull into my garage because the entire right side of my driveway is covered. I have posted picture on ******** to see if anyone is interested in taking some. But so far no one has responded. I refuse to pay someone to come and remove this. I can use a little of it but very little. A) the company should advise as to how much wood chips will be delivered and exactly how many yards. B) They should also advise people that there will be chunks of wood and tree limbs in the pile. I can provide you with pictures if you need them

This is the first time hearing about this specific complaint.  We do deliver a lot of material with a ChipDrop delivery, but we have lots of pictures on our website and in our ******* videos that show exactly what to expect.  There are lots of steps to placing a request, and lots of disclaimers letting gardeners know what to expect before they place a request.

Regarding the branches and unchipped material, we would need to see pictures of that before we could make a decision.  If material is not properly chipped and is too coarse, we do follow up about that.
