      I'm being charged for a debt that doesn't belong to me, my name was put on an electric bill for a family I was staying with back in March. I removed my name from the electric **** in may, once I found out what had happened. I informed this company that my name was removed from the account and that the debt does not belong to me, but they keep sending me bills from their collection company

      Call received at 9:00am asking me to verify my name, date of birth, etc.The company failed to identify who was calling. Dragged the call past 20 seconds. I asked for a correspondence and Ill respond via mail.A company should always identify who they are prior to asking a person there personal information. Shame on you.

      We have updated our records to reflect that you do not wish to receive future communications from our office. We have also reviewed the call recording and are sorry if you got the impression that the call was related to a scam or an effort to obtain your personal information for nefarious purposes. For context, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) places limitations on a collection agency's ability to disclose the name of its business when speaking with a third-party, unless it has authorization from the consumer to speak with that third-party or if the name of the company is expressly requested. The limitation is designed to protect against disclosing to a third-party that a consumer owes a debt. In an attempt to ensure compliance with the ****** the representative who contacted you first attempted to verify that he had the correct individual by having you provide a piece of personal information that would match the information associated with the account (i.e. date of birth or mailing address). On occasion, the contact information that we receive is outdated and our representative wanted to ensure that he had the correct individual on the line (and not someone else who shared a similar name). When you requested the name of the company, he said he was calling with Professional Credit Service and he confirmed that we tried to mail something to you on 9/26/22.

      Again, we apologize for any frustration that you experienced.       I am submitting this complaint because the company is reporting information in violation of federal law. I have sent letters requesting validation of the alleged date, but have not received a response. I am considering filing a civil suit because I have missed a job opportunity because of this. This is my last effort to get the attention of a higher up to take swift action and remove the information so that I may move forward with the job opportunity. If they fail, I will be filing in General Sessions seeking the maximum of $25,000 in damages.

      We have reviewed our records and we are unable to locate any files for the person who submitted this complaint. Additionally, the name of the creditor identified in the complaint does not look like a creditor-client of Professional Credit Service. As such, it is possible that this complaint has been filed against the wrong entity. Our understanding is that there are other companies with "Professional Credit" in their name and we believe this complaint is targeted toward one of those entities.
