Hello,I work at a non-profit and received an email on 1/8/2025 from ************************ for a newsletter (HR Manager's Legal Alert for ************ service I never signed up for, nor used. This is a scam.Thank you,Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint recently registered against our company by Ms. **** ****** Director of *************** for Didihirsch, ************ ** (Complaint ID *********.
While perusing the Internet on November 14, 2024, Ms. ***** saw an offer for our publication HR Managers Legal Alert for Supervisors. After reviewing the offer, Ms. ***** agreed to accept a trial subscription to our email newsletter.
The offer clearly explained to Ms. ***** that the product would cost $265 per year for five users to extend the subscription beyond the original four-issue trial. If no action was taken, the trial would simply end and Ms. ***** would receive nothing further from us.
As per the offer, we began emailing the publication to Ms. ***** to the email address provided to us by her ************************ Shortly thereafter, we followed up with a continuation notice that Ms. ***** was supposed to pay in order to continue the subscription for a full year of 24 issues. Ms. ***** was under no obligation to pay the notice or take any other action. If we did not hear from Ms. ****** we would simply discontinue sending the publication to her upon completion of the trial period.
We heard nothing from Ms. ***** during the four-issue trial period until she filed this complaint, which means Ms. ***** submitted a defamatory, damaging complaint about our organization without even contacting us before doing so.
Please note that Ms. ***** has paid no funds to us, nor are we asking for payment of anything from her to us.
It is unfortunate that Ms. ***** has chosen to bring unwanted scrutiny to our organization. You can rest assured that the hard-working men and women employed by our company and their families do not appreciate the damage Ms. ***** is attempting to inflict upon our business. And theres no doubt that our customers who are using our publication to root out discrimination in their workplaces dont appreciate Ms. ****** efforts to tarnish the reputation of our company.
It was simply our misfortune that a chronic complainer like Ms. ***** decided to sign up for our publication. Needless to say, we have removed Ms. ***** from our contact list and we respectfully request that she never again sign up for a trial subscription to any of our publications wed rather not deal with people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain about legitimate business practices in order to bring attention to themselves.
Sincerely

Our company, **** Therapeutics, received an invoice from Institute of Business Publications, dated 01.22.2024. The **** Therapeutics contact on the invoice never heard of this company, nor ever purchased any item or service from this company. Nor has anyone in the **** HR Department. This is not a legitimate/valid invoice and is a scam. Also, there are previous instances of this very same occurrence happening right here on the BBB website.Business Response

Received an invoice for a Publication called HR Manager's Legal Alert for Supervisors, stating I agreed to an online trial subscription to this publications which I DID NOT. The invoice is for 5 publications for 1 year at $265. I called but cannot get through- it only would let me leave a message. Would like for them to correct this in their system as I did not request their services- also would like a credit invoice memo reflecting that we did not request and have the invoice reversed or removed from their system.Business Response

Good afternoon,
I take complete offense to the below response regarding my complaint for this company. I don't appreciate being called a chronic complainer. I've never received anything from them other than the list attached. I like to think I conduct myself in a professional manner at all times. ************ has been doing this for years.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint recently registered against our company by ***********************************, HR assistant with ****************., Blairsville, GA. (Complaint No. ********)
While perusing the Internet on August 3, 2023, ******************** saw an offer for our publication HR Managers Legal Alert for Supervisors. After reviewing the offer, ******************** agreed to accept a trial subscription to our publication.
The offer clearly explained to ******************* that the product would cost $265 per year for five users to extend the subscription beyond the original four-issue trial. If no action was taken, the trial would simply end and ******************** would receive nothing further from us.
As per the offer, we began emailing the publication to ******************** to the email address provided to us by her (**************************************).Shortly thereafter, we followed up with a continuation notice that ******************** was supposed to pay in order to continue the subscription for a full year of 24 issues. ******************** was under no obligation to pay the notice or take any other action. If we did not hear from ********************, we would simply discontinue sending the publication to her upon completion of the trial period.
During the four-issue review, we heard nothing from ********************. Instead, she contacted the Better Business Bureau without making even a cursory effort to reach out to our organization. Keep in mind that our website address and toll-free phone number were included on the continuation notice sent to ********************. It would've taken her a couple of minutes to go to our website and send us a message cancelling the account. Or she could've used the phone number to reach out to us. But she did neither. Rather, she chose to spend more time contacting the Better Business Bureau than it would've taken her to contact us and cancel the account. (We did finally receive a cancellation request from ********************, but only after she'd already complained to you.)
We also note that ******************** appears to have a problem with our phone system. Yet she never even tried to call us and leave a message to cancel the account, so its unclear why and how our allegedly fraudulent phone system was a problem for her. And the fact of the matter is that the account number she claims to not have is on the upper right-hand corner of the invoice she attached to her complaint, so she obviously did have an account number and could've simply left a message with (or without) the account number and we would've processed her cancellation in a timely manner. She also claims that we don't have an email address on our invoice, which is true, but, as stated, our customer service email address is on our website, which is provided on the invoice. The bottom line is that ******************* is moaning and groaning about the methods we provide to customers to contact us, but she never even made an attempt to contact us before she complained to you, so its unclear why our contact methods are featured so prominently in her complaint.
Please note that ******************** has paid no funds to us, nor are we asking for payment of anything from her to us.
It is unfortunate that ******************** has chosen to bring unwanted scrutiny to our organization because she either didn't read the offer or didn't understand what she was agreeing to. You can rest assured that the hard-working men and women employed by our company and their families do not appreciate the damage ******************** is attempting to inflict upon our business. And there's no doubt that our customers who are using our publication to root out discrimination in their workplaces don't appreciate ******************** efforts to tarnish the reputation of our company.
It was simply our misfortune that a chronic complainer decided to sign up for our publication and then whine to everyone and anyone who would listen except the business that she allegedly had a problem with. Needless to say, we have removed ******************** from our contact list and we respectfully request that she never again sign up for a trial subscription to any of our publications wed rather not deal with people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain about legitimate business practices in order to bring attention to themselves.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]
Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:I do accept that they did cancel the "account" that I supposedly agreed to online. While I do a lot of research with our company, I have never, nor would I ever, sign up for a "Free subscription". Also, I would notate that nowhere on the "Invoice" that this company sends out is there mention of a no-obligation payment. The invoice clearly states that there is a "Payment term-of 30 days". This invoice also stated that "Three issues have already been emailed", yet I have never received any type of issue from this company, nor was I emailed the "Invoices". You would think they would email it as well since obviously my email was so handy for the "issues". The invoices did come through mail.
As for contact options there is a *****# available to call but every time I did try to call them both their "Customer Service" line and "Other" lines went to voicemail. There was no actual person to answer this line.
Surely such a "reputable company" would understand how imperative that is when you just blindly invoice companies. Even if I were a customer, you would think customer service would be of upmost importance as well. As far as leaving a message, no I did not. The message clearly states for you to leave your account number for someone to call you back and while the "invoice" did supply an account number, there was absolutely no way I would reference it and have someone state that I assumed the responsibility of the account because I acknowledged the account. That would be careless of any business in these days of fraud.
While I did reach out to the company via their online "Contact" page, it was a "must" situation as again, no one would answer incoming calls. Sounds like an invoice scamming fraud to me.
I will not go back and forth with the President of this company as my morals and integrity will not allow. But I will end with the fact that, if sending scam invoices is how you generate income for your company and how you pay the livelihoods of your associates, then it is a shame. Hire more staff to answer your phones so when companies get this fraudulent invoice, they can immediately call your number and cancel.
Thank you for canceling our "FAKE ACCOUNT". As we never signed up to begin with.
Regards,

The crux of ******************** “rejection” or our response is that she did not order the publication. But her statement is false. In fact, she did order the trial subscription on Aug. 3, 2023, as stated in our response to her original complaint. If she did not order the trial subscription, how did we obtain her name, title, company name, address, phone number and email?
Otherwise, ******************** alleges that she repeatedly tried to reach out to our organization but we refused to cancel her account. This statement is also false. In fact, ******************** herself provided the proof that she's being less than truthful when she gave you additional information on Sept. 28, 2023, which is attached as Exhibit A. The additional documentation is a copy of the email we sent to her cancelling the account. ******************** is essentially claiming that we never responded to her when she tried to contact us, but then is providing proof that we did, in fact, respond to her by cancelling the account and unsubscribing her from our contact list, effectively providing evidence that disproves the very allegations she is making against us!
As stated in our response to her original complaint, ******************* has paid no funds to us nor are we asking for payment of anything from her to us.
We have cancelled her account, unsubscribed her from our contact list and asked her to never again sign up for a trial subscription to our publication. We have done everything ******************** has requested, yet she is still trying to stir up trouble for our business, providing further proof of what we stated in our response to her original complaint: ******************** is a chronic complainer. There is simply nothing else we can do except hope that ******************* finds some other company she can whine about to bring unwanted attention to herself and stops bothering us!

I am rejecting this response because:Yes, you did cancel my account, ONCE I complained to the BBB. Obviously, you know that all the information you can obtain is public record or easy searchable. After your first response to this BBB complaint, I was able to see the same information for yourself including pictures. The lack of your professionalism shows in your email responses.
Again, I have never complained to BBB on any other business, but your false invoices and lack of actual customer service contact, warranted the complaint. That, and your lack of comprehension and ownership of your businesses scam. You can attack my integrity as you see fit. There is another BBB complaint regarding the same issue. And funny enough your response to it was almost an exact "copy" response attacking, that complainant, as well. It will be obvious to others reviewing these complaints that your business is less then truthful on how information is obtained. It does speak a lot to your personal morals and values. Again, I never signed up to this information and no contact was ever made regarding invoices that do not provide the correct information for dispute. Your response to the BBB was as untruthful as your business and its scam (practices). I would NEVER sign up for your services as I NEVER did. But knowing that others that are caught up in your scam will see our same issue on the BBB brings comfort that they will be able to fight your false "invoices" for a service they too did not sign up for.

I care not to continue to get harassed, degraded, and receive false character implications from this scam business that I filed this complaint about. It is obvious that the president of that company has the same narrative that he gives to all complaints against his scam company. *Reference to the last BBB complaint. They did cancel the scam subscription they falsely invoiced our business for only after I filed this complaint. So, that is resolved. As far as the Scam...that is for BBB to accredit or not.
I just want to make sure it is notated that he has provided no proof that I signed up for his "service", but I have offered plenty proof that we were "invoiced" falsely for them! AND while his negative character and responses prove my point, I wish to no longer correspond with someone with those type of morals or values. Our company holds our values and integrity in tack without scamming other businesses.
Thank you!

I am rejecting this response because: This company refuses to take ownership of their wrongdoing. They falsely invoice companies at a ridiculous rate when they cannot provide a signature agreement. Therefore, my complaint stands as is. While we now are not being invoiced, I would not want this to happen to another company. Therefore, if any company researches this business through the BBB my complaint should show. Then they can take their own recourses through BBB as well. The point of BBB is to inform the public of businesses wrongdoing. The Institute of Business Publications is a scam.

We're not sure why we're being asked to respond to this rejection because it's obvious that ******************** will reject whatever we say and this process will continue ad infinitum. It's like the move Groundhog Day. We will, however, take this opportunity to point out once again that ******************** has paid nothing to us, nor are we asking her to pay anything to us. We have removed her from our contact list and she'll receive nothing further from us, unless she once again signs up for a trial subscription to our publication, which we really hope she doesn't do. Go ahead, ********************, spew some more vile and venom at our company.Initial Complaint

Institute of Business Publications sent an invoice to an entity that I was affiliated with (company # 1) during my employment with a different entity (Company #2). I never EVER signed up for anything with this company and I would NEVER have them bill a company (Company 1) I never worked for. After I explained the situation to Company 1, I let the situation drop because, again, I NEVER signed up for anything with IOBP. Fast forward 1 week and now they are sending me invoices!!!!!! I never ever signed up for some Legal Alerts for Supervisors! I DON'T SUPERVISE ANYONE!Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint recently registered against our company by ************ ********************, HR assistant for the ********** of *********, , Madison, WI. (Complaint No. ********)
While perusing the Internet on July 6, 2023, ****************** saw an offer for our publication HR Managers Legal Alert for Supervisors. After reviewing the offer, ****************** agreed to accept a trial subscription to our publication.
The offer clearly explained to ****************** that the product would cost $265 per year for five users to extend the subscription beyond the original four-issue trial. If no action was taken, the trial would simply end and ****************** would receive nothing further from us.
As per the offer, we began emailing the publication to ****************** to the email address provided to us by her (*******************). Shortly thereafter, we followed up with a continuation notice that ****************** was supposed to pay in order to continue the subscription for a full year of 24 issues. ****************** was under no obligation to pay the notice or take any other action. If we did not hear from ******************, we would simply discontinue sending the publication to her upon completion of the trial period.
During the four-issue review, we heard nothing from *******************Instead, she contacted the Better Business Bureau without making even a cursory effort to reach out to our organization. Keep in mind that our website address and toll-free phone number were included on the continuation notice sent to *****************. It would've taken her a couple of minutes to go to our website and send us a message cancelling the account. Or he could've used the phone number to reach out to us. But she did neither. Rather, she chose to spend more time complaining to the Better Business Bureau than it would've taken her to contact us and cancel the account.
Please note that ****************** has paid no funds to us, nor are we asking for payment of anything from her to us.
It is unfortunate that ****************** has chosen to bring unwanted scrutiny to our organization because she either didn't read the offer or didn't understand what she was agreeing to. You can rest assured that the hard-working men and women employed by our company and their families do not appreciate the damage ****************** is attempting to inflict upon our business. And there's no doubt that our customers who are using our publication to root out discrimination in their workplaces don't appreciate **. ******** efforts to tarnish the reputation of our company.
It was simply our misfortune that a chronic complainer decided to sign up for our publication and then whine to everyone and anyone who would listen except the business that she allegedly had a problem with. Needless to say, we have removed ****************** from our contact list and we respectfully request that she never again sign up for a trial subscription to any of our publications wed rather not deal with people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain about legitimate business practices in order to bring attention to themselves.

This business is continuously sending our company fraudulent invoices and requesting money from us. We have never worked with, ordered from, or been affiliated with this business in any capacity.
