I purchased a complete paid in full membership in February 2023. I used the money from the death of my mother. I was under the assumption that this would be a lifetime membership and could transfer it to my children. The main selling point was that Coast-To-Coast was a partner and I could visit anywhere in the ***. I found out later that they do not have a partnership and enrolled me in a 1 year subscription. I paid over $17000 to enable me to visit 6 campsites. The cabin fees were only supposed to be $10 per night. Those immediately went up to $30 within 2023. I only stayed at ****************. I didn't know that is was on a mountain and that I would need a golf cart or car to visit the rest of the resort. I paid more in golf cart fees than if I would have driven a car and stayed in a cabin. This membership is the most expensive thing that I signed up for. I tried to cancel several times and was told stories that I could not until after the first year. I received by mail on the 26th of February that I have until March 1st to pay for maintenance fees. I travel for work and did not get home until March 17. There is no way that I could have paid the maintenance fees within that time. Now the story is that I can not cancel my membership until I pay the fees. I am not paying the fees and want a refund. I have sent emails regarding this since December and have been told stories to push me off. I am tired of the lying and excuses. This is a scam time share business. I should have done more research before investing. It was an emotional time in my life and I made a bad choice. I have also been told that I could sell my membership. I have to find a buyer. I have to work for them to sell another scam. I should have bought a car. It would get used everyday and not demand me to work for it and change the membership and pricing.

I have added some correspondence from December 2023. I have been calling Travel Resorts of America as much as I can. I travel for work out of the country once a month and I am not always awake when their business hours are open. I have been patient and keep getting put to the side. I will keep you updated if I am contacted by them.

Update after speaking with ***** from Travel Resorts of America. They will allow me to cancel my membership which cost $3500 plus paying for maintenance fees ($761.87). I spoke with her on Sunday and I let her know that I need time to think about it and try and collect the money. It is now Wednesday after 4pm and she did not answer her phone. That will be a total of over $20,000 I have spent for one camping trip. I am unable to get legal help because of the contract and the places that help with canceling time shares can't touch them because their home office in based out of **************. The owners of this business knows all of the loop holes. I am going to pay them want they want so that I do not have to give them any more of my money. I want everyone to know that this company actions is unjust and unfair. I feel that I have been manipulated and have been treated wrong. No one should have to go through this. This was my life savings that I chose poorly investing.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: 21470798

I am rejecting this response because:

I will respond to all 8 of the correspondence messages.

      1. I understand the terms of the contract. That was never in question. I was told a lie about the term.

      2. I started with an email and was not given instruction to send a hand written letter. I was instructed to wait (my attachment to this complaint).

      3. No one wants this membership. My children agree because of how I have been treated.

      4. My oldest child did make reservations and canceled them because of the 300% increase. This was at the Gettysburg resort.

      5. I understand that there was going to be maintenance fees. That is why I tried to cancel in December. I wanted to save money on fees.

      6. I told the representatives several times and asked them several times that the main reason I signed up for the membership was the partnership with Coast-to-Coast. I was told that it was included with my membership. I was never told that it was only a 1 year subscription. Why would anyone pay $16,000 for 6-7 campsites.

      7. I understand the affiliate rates.

      8. I constantly get calls asking me about Ask ****** and CTC via Hopaway for discounts on hotel, condos, airline, rental car, etc. Each time I tell the representatives that these do not save me any money. I am a government employee and get better rates and prices. This part of the membership does not help me or save me money.

I have paid the maintenance fees and an additional $3500 to cancel my contract. I would like confirmation from you that I will not be contacted again. I feel that each time I contact Travel Resorts of America all of the representatives just want my money and do not care about my family. I used the money that my mother gave when when she passed away to pay for the membership. This final amount of $3500 I had to put on a credit card and make payments. Why do I have to pay more when you could have just taken my money and cancelled my membership?

      Regards,

*******, you were given confirmation of your membership cancellation via email on 4.7.24. We are unsure what further information you are requesting to confirm your cancellation, Please feel free to email us at ************************************************************ if you require additional documentation of your membership cancellation.

I was not satisfied with their response. The only good thing is that my membership is canceled. I paid them over $20,000 to camp for one week. My purpose is to tell people about this company and how horrible they are.
