On August 18, 2023 a man knocked on the door and asked if we wanted our driveway sealed, when I ask him how much he didn’t answer me, it needed to be done so I left him do it which took him about 45 minutes to an hour. When he gave me the bill he was going to charge me $4500 then he came down to $3800 and then he came down to $3200, I know driveway selling doesn’t cost this much but because it was done I thought I was obligated to pay it. I think he took me across . I would like this look into and see if he overcharged me, and I would like some of my money back.

I was scammed by this business. And it looks like others have been as well. While outside of our house on Saturday 1/21, my wife and I were approached my a man named *******************************. He mentioned that our driveway could use some repair and said the he's with WSH Paving and that he has left over sealant from another job and could fix our driveway that same day. I had asked multiple times how much it would cost, and each time was given a run around and said that he couldn't really give an estimate until the job was finished. However, he mentioned that the supplies usually go for $50-$70 per bucket, and our driveway isn't huge, and he said he'd give us a good deal. He did patch 2 cracks with asphalt tape and sealed the driveway. I have a truck on the one side of the driveway that isn't movable and he said that he would have his workers come and help push the truck out of the way on a later date, so that he can do that part of the drive way, and then push the truck back, for no extra charge, as it was just him and another woman that day. Once he finished, I was told it would be $3,500. I was astonished at the price, as he had implied it was such a great deal. He showed me that he got the price by $50x$70, claiming that's what we agreed on, which is false, as he could never give me an estimate before he started. On average a job of that size would cost $400-$700. However, since the job was done, I felt like I had no recourse other than to pay him. I said that I don't have that much cash and he said he'd take whatever I had and the rest in a check. We had $1,000 in cash saved, which when I said this, he said he'd drop the price to $3,000 and to give him the $1,000 cash and a check for $2,000. So that's what we did. After asking around, I see that we were taken advantage of. We called the bank but he cashed the check. He shouldn't be able to get away with this and it's apparent that he's just going to keep doing it as our story is the same as other complaints.
