I called what I thought was official ***** Product Support for a printer error and was connected to *********************** of ADVSoft LLC impersonating as ***** Printer Tech Support. He gained access to my laptop via a remote troubleshooting session and attempted to bully and scare me into paying $199 for tech support on non printer related issues. I disconnected the session and the call after I became uneasy. I am concerned for the safety of my personal and professional information. The official Canon Product support website specifically says it will not use third parties or charge more than $20 for phone support.Initial Complaint

I contacted ADV Soft to help me with a laptop boot issue. They charged me 299.99 + tax upfront for the one time service of fixing my laptop + a year of service if anything else happened. After 3 hours of discussion they informed me they could not help me because my hard drive was corrupted and that I would need to purchase a new laptop. I decided to bring my laptop to a local **** *** and they were able to completely restore my laptop, stating that my hard drive was not corrupted and all their diagnostics passed. They claimed the issue was a disturbance during an update that caused the issue.Business Response

To whomsoever it may concern,
***************************** called us on 21st October 2022 regarding an issue with her laptop, not able to use her device because of blue screen error.
Initially the problem was not fixed, and the call was scheduled for the next day. However, ******************** never responded to follow-up calls or emails.
It is our policy to call back/email our customers and make sure that they are satisfied with our services. If they are not, we issue a full refund/partial refund depending on what was the issue, and the partial charge is to the customers satisfaction for the services that were provided.
On 25th October 2022 ******************** sent an email stating that she got her problem resolved from local store, so as per the policies of the company, we did not capture the amount for the services and payment was voided and payment voided confirmation email & receipt was sent to the customer.
All the communication we had with the customer was through the official E-mail id of ADVSOFT LLC LLC (listed on our website also). The payment which the customer made was also through the company's website and no financial information was taken or asked from the customer. Hence there is no scope of any charges from ADVSOFT,LLC.
Please let us know what other specific supporting documents can be provided by us to resolve this issue.
Thank you!
Yours Sincerely,
Steve

I could basically cut and paste everyone's complaints here. I also looked up ** Helpline for a new laptop because of problems with the microphone. It directed me to ADV. I did better than some losing $129. Now they are calling me every day to "follow up". There are also other fees that are showing up to my account since my initial contact with them. How do these companies not get stopped by the SEC"?
