Mar 19, 2025 - $130.50 I ordered a used tire from Champtires, expecting a quality product that had been thoroughly inspected, as clearly promised on their website. But what I received was nothing short of a nightmare. After paying $30 to have the tire mounted, I immediately noticed serious issues. The tire was covered in cracks, obvious signs of dry rotting, and had a patch, which I knew was a possibility. But the worst part? The tire caused a violent shake while driving, making my vehicle nearly undriveable. This was supposed to be a safe, inspected tire, yet it was anything but.Hoping for a resolution, I reached out to Champtires customer service. They offered a refund, but only if I removed the defective tire and sent it back. This meant paying another $30 to have it unmounted, on top of the $30 I already paid to install it. So now I was out $60 for their defective product. I trusted their inspection process, which they falsely claimed to follow, and now I was left paying for their ********** make it worse, they claimed they no longer had a replacement, though it was still available on their site. I scrambled to remove the defective tire, find a replacement, and pay to mount it, all while trying to book a shop appointment because without a working tire, my car was undriveable.Champtires showed absolutely no accountability. Despite my multiple attempts to resolve this fairly, they refused to help with any costs associated with their defective product. They left me hanging, ignored my messages, and eventually claimed it was too late to return the tire. This is beyond a simple customer service failure, this is a company that has zero respect for its customers and no integrity in its sales process. This has been an infuriating, time-consuming, and expensive ordeal. Champtires failed to deliver a safe, inspected tire as promised and abandoned me when their product was a hazard. If you value your money, time, and safety, avoid this company.

      Hello,

This customer purchased the tire on March 31, 2025 through ****. We are attaching the first five screenshots of our communications with the customer via the **** messaging platform. We repeatedly told the customer we would issue a refund once we received the tire back and would provide a prepaid label. All the customer had to do was open a return request through ****. This is ****'s requirement in order to send a prepaid label and have an item returned. We asked the customer multiple times to do this so that we cold send the label and the customer never opened the return request. We are unable to send a label without a customer-initiated return request on the **** platform. So unless the customer wants to open a return request like we have repeatedly asked, we cannot send a label to return the tire for a refund. If the customer opens a return request, we'd gladly send a label.

Because the ** only allows five attachments, we are unable to upload the rest. If the ** would like to see them, we'd be more than happy to provide them.

      Thanks.

      Hello,

We apologize as we weren't given all of the information when we initially responded. The buyer, Mr. ***** did open a return request and we immediately sent him a prepaid ***** label to return the tire. The buyer did not return the tire. Therefore, we did not issue a refund since the buyer still has our tire. **** closed this case in our favor because they could see that the tire was never returned via the shipping information provided.

The buyer's continued slander of our company, which is unfounded, will not be tolerated.

Its truly disappointing how this situation has been handled. Replacing the damaged tire required me to take time off work, pay out of pocket for a new one, and coordinate with a shop to complete the installationnone of which is quick, easy, or inexpensive. I also reached out to **** customer service for support, but unfortunately received no response. (Screenshote attached of that as well!) Despite my efforts to resolve this issue, your company showed no willingness to work toward a fair solution.

Let me be clear: sharing a truthful account of my experience is not slander. These are facts, backed by time-stamped communication and documentation. If your company had shown even a basic level of accountability or customer care, this entire situation could have been avoided. Instead, your dismissive and defensive response only reinforces the lack of professionalism Ive encountered throughout this process.

I took my car in to have 4 tires put on and they took the car in and when I returned to pick it up they said they could not get the lug nuts off they were to torqued. So I bought the tires and went to my mechanic. He took all the lug nuts off with a bar and in the process noticed 3 bolts were broken and my tire was being held on by 2 bolts. My mechanic took all the bolts off with a bar and had to fix the car before the tires were put back on. I am looking to get refunded the extra 125 that I had to spend bc champs broke them off, which the guy at champs said they told me about the bolts but they did not they said they would not try bc they did not want to break the bolts, well 3 were broken when I got to my mechanics shop. When I discussed this with the owner he said they didn't do it but they did. He also told me that they could not take the bolts off but I stood there and watched my mechanic do it without a tire gun and just a bar. I was told by my mechanic that all the bolts were lose on all 4 tires so he did not understand what champs was talking about. When I talked to the owner at champs he refuses to reimburse me stating they broke 2 and told me...no you didn't and he hung up on me...really

First of all, you're reporting the wrong business. You went to Champtires at ******************************************************

Second, here is our response to you.

Hi ******, as we explained to you when you were here this morning and when you called, your car's lug nuts were all over torqued. You said the last person to do something with your tires was either your husband or the place you had your car inspected. Well, they did the damage. As we told you, we could not get them off with the impact gun or breaker bar. Two LUG NUTS, NOT BOLTS, did break off on the passenger rear (which we told you about). We insured that all remaining lug nuts were tight - which was overkill since they were so thight they couldn't be removed. Your safety driving was never an issue because the lugs were all on so tight. As previously explained to you, we do not continue to work on vehicles that come in damaged because this could lead to more damage. Thanks for your tire purchase, and make sure you have them installed by someone who knows how to not over-torque next time.

Your story keeps changing every time you call and submit a complaint whether it is here or on ******. Bolts also do not cost $125.

      Thank you

They broke 3 lugs and I do have a video that proves that and also a video of the ease it took to get them off. Driving with 2 lugs only holding onto my tire , yes this is a Hazzard and very dangerous. I have proof but the files are to big to share here but I will be more than happy to send them to them so they can see. I would have told them that but he hung up on me so there is that.

Internet purchase of used winter tire. Tire had a bubble in the sidewall area, which was not disclosed up front. Contacted vendor for equivalent replacement since they have similar in stock items. Vendor declined to accept the opportunity to make things right. No offer of similar tire and no offer of refund was given. The vendor states on their website that they screen tires, but this tire evaded their screening process.

The customer purchased a tire from our **** store on July 26, 2024. Our stated return policy period is attached where items that are damaged or not as described need to have return requests open within 30 days. **** also has a 60 day return period. The customer contacted us initially on October 20, 2024, which is well past the 30 and 60 day return periods. We asked for a receipt to show when the tire was installed since he was so far outside of the return period. The customer never sent the requested receipt and instead opened this claim with the BBB. In his message to us, he wanted a "customer goodwill" gesture without providing any proof that the damage was present when he received the tire. Therefore, that is why we have not moved forward in giving him any type of refund, and **** backs us on this decision.

The reason for the time delay is because winter season had not yet arrived.  The tires were not installed on the vehicle until October, when the issue was found, during preparations for winter.  A set of summer tires/wheels were still in use until my October attempt to switch over.

The entirety of the argument needs to be expanded to include what was shipped (rather than strictly the time delay).  The objection is to what was shipped being defective goods.

A return for convenience or change of mind is entirely different issue than defective goods.  This is about defective goods and the denial of a replacement.

I purchased a tire from Champ Tires through Ebay for $111.30. On getting the tire, I had it put on my car at a tire shop. On checking the next day, the tire pressure had dropped to 10. I took it back to the tire shop and they found a huge leak in the tire wall (I have photos and videos to support this). I had to buy another tire on the spot at a premium price, as tire wall damage is not reparable. In all, the total ordeal cost me $87, minus the price of the new tire. I requested reimbursement for my expenses and I got 0 response. They have 0 quality control and their customer service is non-existent. I would like to be reimbursed for my expenses for their bad tire in the amount of $87.

      Business Response

      Dear Better Business Bureau,

We fully refunded the customer for their order. Sometimes sidewall holes only present themselves when the weight of the car is added to the tire, which is why our air testing equipment could have missed it. The damage could have also happened on the drive home from getting it installed, but we didn't press the customer on that and took their word.

We also replied to every message that the customer sent us on eBay, as seen in the attached conversation. It is eBay's policy and Champtires' policy that neither eBay or Champtires are responsible for installation or labor expenses. When we told the customer this, the customer did not like the answer.

      Thanks

Date of transaction: Saturday, 6-1-2024. Amt charged to credit card $32.10.
Service- remove nail from driver side rear tire and plug tire to stop air leak of 2016 Honda Odyssey handicap van..
Nature of dispute- upon arrival service person inspected tire in parking lot. He stated tire can be repaired and to drive into service bay. I asked the price of service before driving into service bay. He quoted $13.52, I proceeded into service area. When service completed I went to front desk pay bill. I was in a hurry and just handed my credit card to agent and did not review receipt when handed back to me. Later that day I reviewed receipt charges, the store had close for weekend. I returned Monday morning to discuss charges. The service agent stated bill $32.10 is for ( dismounting, repair, balance and remount tire). I stated if that was the service I should have been informed when he first inspected tires in parking lot. I ask for an itemize invoice. He printed a receipt that just states driver rear leak check. I left the location and disputed service on champtires.com .A gentleman named Tony called me. We discussed the issue. I ask for a discount credit charge back to my card. He stated if the tire is not leaking the charges stand as is. I asked to speak to a regional manager. Tony stated as the service manager he makes final decision and there is no one higher than him to speak with. I thank him for speaking to me and then preceeded to BBB website for assistance.

I reject this resolution presented. Reason- Miscommunication of charge

It's understandable to expect that the total cost of all
services should be disclosed upfront, allowing me to make an informed decision before service is performed.
This was not the case. When I arrived the service person inspected tire in
parking lot and stated the tire can be repaired and to drive into service bay. While
still in the parking lot, I specifically asked the price of service before
driving into service bay.  If the service
scope and associated costs and the final charge differs from the quoted price,
I have the right to inquire and seek clarification.

Bought a tire on eBay. Tire was sold with a nail already in the tire. I was promised a refund of $25. I never got a refund. eBay refused to issue me a refund. Scumbag company.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/09/2023

      Hello,

The customer bought a tire through our bay store with the username *********************" Following the purchase, he reported that the tire had a nail in it. We apologized and offered to send him a prepaid return label to refute it for a fee refund or would pay up to $25 for a repair if he had it repaired and then sent us the receipt. As you can see from our exchanges, he didn't want to return the tired wanted more money before actually getting the tire repaired, therefore not sending us a receipt to cover the repair. This is agains eBay and Champtires return policies and practices to deal with damaged items. Everything needs to be done with a receipt before a reimbursement is issued.

Then, outside of the message attached, "******************** opened a return request on eBay, but then never returned the tire. We cannot issue a refund for an item that isn't returned. eBay is 100% backing us on this interaction.

If "******************** would like to return the tire, he should follow the return request instructions given to him through eBay. If he would still like to keep the tire and have it repaired, then he should do that and send us a photo of the receipt so we can reimburse him properly.

I took my ford echo sport to champtires at 1130 Lebanon Church Road, West Mifflin pa on Thursday March 23rd to have 2 front tires changed. I had no problems with my front passenger side tire besides the tread was low. Well the man took my tire off the rim and came out and said that my rim is cracked and my tire wont hold any air now and I had to get a tow home ?? I dont understand because my tire wasn't flat before he took it off the rim so how could this even be possible they are denying cracking my rim and said it's not possible for that to happen I'm so upset

When our tire technicians removed her tire in order to replace it, they discovered a crack in her wheel that had been there. They immediately stopped the work on her car to inform her. We have explained several times in person and over the phone that there is no way removing a tire can cause a crack in the wheel. We are not responsible for damage already present on a wheel when it arrives at our location.

There retern policy is really something odd, but there aloud to do that it's a bissness.
I tried to gather information about a product I did not get a reply.
I then used my official email to order I did not get a reply from the business at all with in there "60 minute" policy.
I sent three emails trying to gather information about the product "used tires". I wanted to make sure the measurements were taken right and wanted more photos if you were wondering. It's so I know the tires can be ballenced.
On my third email I wrote are we "canceling the order" there was then a promt response to cancel the order, which they said they did. I then received a pay pal notice not having used PayPal I found this to be odd and paypal is saying it's official.
So I can't get product info, I can't track payments as they are made, the policy is very odd.
      Really weird experience.

So if it goes worse I'll file a second addendum with better biz.

I purchased a tire from ChampTires. I had the tire installed professionally and two weeks later my low tire pressure light came on. I explained to them that I found a pin hole leak in the sidewall and that the tire cannot be repaired legally. I was told a leak would show itself before two weeks. I’ve had leaks in the past that took two weeks to notice. ChampTire offered me a coupon instead of replacing or reimbursing me for the tire.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/03/2023

      Hello,

The customer told us he had his tire installed on Feb. 16, 2023. Then he said that his low pressure light came on nearly two weeks later - and after driving on it for that period. Slow leaks typically present themselves within a few days at the latest. We explained this to him over email. We offered him a 15% off coupon for a replacement tire. He declined and asked to speak with someone. He was then given the option for a 50% off coupon. He told our representative that if he wasn't refunded or sent a replacement, he would file chargebacks and leave negative reviews on social media.

So, at 12:02 pm. today March 3, 2023, we sent him the attached email saying we would send him a replacement tire despite the fact that it goes against the terms and conditions that he agreed to when he placed an order on our website (specifically that we are not responsible for damage done to tires after they are driven on). We also acknowledged his threats to leave negative reviews and file a chargeback if he didn't get his way. Then, 15 minutes later, he left a 1-star Google review and has filed this complaint.

We are sending him a replacement tire despite the fact that he drove on the tire for two weeks and then it was damaged. We also fundamentally disagree with his threat and then use of negative reviews and filing complaints and chargebacks as a level of extortion. Our legal department is also aware of this situation.

The FedEx tracking number for the replacement tire that is being shipped to him is ************

I viewed a advertisement on youtube regarding this company, in the add, they stated they had tires for and I quote **ALL** vehicles.

A quick search for tires for my hummer h1, revealed they DID NOT have tires for my vehicle.

If you are going to advertise and say you have tires for **ALL** vehicles, then have tires for **ALL** vehicles.

they didn't even list my vehicle on their website, I chose the closest match being a civ version H1 hummer, NO where did it even list the military hmmwv.

They are intentionally misleading and lying to people with their adds.

      Hello,

Thanks for your interest in our tires. The tires that fit on Hummer H1s are very uncommon,  but we do have them in stock from time to time. Our inventory is updated daily, so feel free to check back at a later date.

      Have a great day,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

They stated in the advertisement, they have tires for **ALL** vehicles, the business response, clearly stated the contrary to what their advertisement says, they do **NOT** have tires for **ALL** vehicles.

Their advertisement is false and misleading.

      Regards,
