I am writing this review to share my extremely negative experience with American Remodeling Enterprises . My initial impression of this company, based on their online reviews, was positive, but my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare.I reached out to them for a quote to replace the roof on my commercial building, and they provided me with a quote of $110,000. However, things took a turn for the worse when they sent me a contract with a clause stating that there might be additional charges if unforeseen issues arose during the installation process. Before signing the contract, I had a conversation with a gentleman named *************************, who assured me that any additional charges would be minimal, perhaps around $5,000 at most. We agreed that if any unexpected costs arose, they would need my approval before proceeding with the work. To ensure transparency, we even had their team visit the site to inspect the roof before finalizing everything to avoid any surprises. Once we signed the contract and paid a $33,000 deposit to kickstart the project, we received an email from ****** stating that they had just realized the need to remove a significant amount of roofing material and would have to charge an additional $95,000. This sudden and exorbitant increase in the cost made no sense whatsoever. In response, we immediately asked them not to start any work and requested a halt to the project. At this point, no work had been done on our roof. We had already found another reputable roofing company that offered both a better price and better quality for the job, totaling only $100,000, including the additional work required for insulation removal. Shockingly, American Remodeling Enterprises refused to return our deposit, claiming that we had breached the contract. This is utterly absurd! They effectively raised the price to almost double the original quote, and they were unwilling to stop the project even before commencing any actual work. My experience with American Remodeling Enterprises has been frustrating, disappointing, and financially damaging. I strongly advise anyone considering their services to stay far away from this company. Their lack of integrity, professionalism, and their unscrupulous business practices are reasons enough to avoid them at all costs.Business Response

05/19/2023 we’ve signed a contract with American Remodeling Enterprises Inc. (hereinafter “the Company”) Subject of the contract was - 6 windows replacement in our house Anticipated start date was 7/25/2023 Until 7/25/2023 the Company did not notify us of any start day change Despite the fact that we contacted the Company VP 10 days before the start date and got “all good” from him) NObody came out to install windows for us anticipated date nor after that To be clear- NO WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED 7/28/2023 (3 days after anticipated end date) the Company contacted us asking to choose different window options as windows specified in our contract “are not available anymore”. Which proves that windows were NOT EVEN ORDERED from a manufacturer. At that moment we notified the Company that we consider the contract failed by the Company and are not going to sign another contract with them, but we expect the full refund of our down payment The Company representative confirmed that with the Company VP over the phone in our presence and told us refund will take 5-10 business days While he was on the phone I heard their VP commenting on our refund request “anyway we did not do anything” On 9th business day we reminded the Company VP about deadline As of now, 8/15/23 5 PM, 12 business days after our request, we still did not get our money back American Remodeling Enterprises Inc needs to be held accountable for their actions and needs to be reminded how to communicate with their customersBusiness Response

Company uses high pressure sales tactics to get you to sign a contract. They then give you 3 days to cancel the contract. But full terms of the agreement were not disclosed until two weeks later. I was led to believe that the contract I signed was the total cost of the job. Which was $9000. Two weeks later I receive an email that financing is going to cost an additional $8,000. I tried to cancel the contract and now the company is saying they will only cancel if I pay $4000. this is deception, giving 3 days to cancel when the customer doesn't find out the Total cost until weeks later.Business Response

In response to your complaint,
American Remodeling does not control interest rates, they rates are based upon your credit worthiness and set by the lending institutions. The loan is just like any other credit card, installment loan, etc in which interest is applied. Furthermore, the interest payments made on your installment loan are not paid to American Remodeling they are paid to the bank/lender and we do not in any way see any of the interest that you pay.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
Regards, I know the company doesn't control interest rates. My issue is that the company misled me about the terms of the loan. Then when I didn't agree to the loan they would not let me out of my contract. The company gives 3 days to get out of the contract. They put this clause knowing full well it takes longer than 3 days to get a loan offer. I didn't get a loan offer until 20 days after signing the contract. This is a misleading sales tactic.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
Regards, I did not agree to the terms of the loan. Those terms were not what I asked for. They were what I was offered. I rejected those terms and the company still insists on enforcing the contract. I should have a right as a customer to reject the terms of a loan without facing a penalty. The company should be more forth right about their loan application process. Enforcing a 3 day clause of ression while they know a loan offer will take longer than that.

We had our roof completely removed and replaced May 19th, 2022. There were several issues at the beginning that were resolved. On November 5, 2022, I contacted American Remodeling to report that the rubber roof was bubbling and the shingles were lifting. I sent them the same pictures that I have attached for you. As you can see from the attachments of messenger and my call log, I made numerous attempts and tried to remain civil. I was told in my last phone conversation with ****** that they would need the temperature to be above 50 degrees for a full week before they could complete repairs. It is now the end of June and I have not heard from anyone. I attempted to contact someone for a date that it would be scheduled but did not get a reply. We had also tried to contact the salesman that sold us the project. We are requesting that the rubber roof be completely redone and the shingles secured before any leaks begin or a refund in the amount of the estimated cost to complete the work with another contractor ($8k).Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:They have already sent someone to our residence and checked the roof back in November when I first complained. No one was home to speak with them or verify they were here. The timeline of a week or two is very vague and that is to look at it. We have waited long enough for this to be resolved and have been more than patient. I will accept when the repair is scheduled to be completed on a specific date.

American Remodeling Enterprises Inc (A.R.E.I.) was hired on 11/22/2022 to repair the roof of my house and porch. A.R.E.I. instructions were to remove the 1/2-inch OSB plywood sheathing from the top of the original 1''x 8'' roof planks and to replace and place it with 1/2- inch non OSB plywood sheathing, and to replace everything above the sheathing with new materials the ice & water barrier, underlayment. shingles fiber board and rubber roofing along with the roofline materials. including replacing a rafter on the porch. A.R.E.I. stated they put roofs on all year round that having this work done in the winter would be no problem. 12/14/2022 A.R.E.I. arrived at my address to do the roofs A.R.E.I. could not finish the work due to an approaching winter storm. A.R.E.I. returned on 12/21/2022 removing the 1''x 8'' original roof planks damaging the frame of the roofs replacing the 1''x8'' original roof planks with 1/4'' non OSB plywood, damaging fascia, damaging the asbestos shingles and damaging the rain gutters and damaging the insulation for the roof leaks. I've contacted A.R.E.I. several times about these damages asking the questions of why A.R.E.I. did this to my home and what A.R.E.I. intended to do about these damages A.R.E.I.'s representee informed me that my roof is structurally sound. A.R.E.I. sent out a representee. A.R.E.I.'s representee tried to hammer back the damaged fascia. March 30th, 2023, A.R.E.I. sent the same representee of A.R.E.I. who went on top of the roof and took photographs then went into the attic to take photographs. I have yet to have my questions answered by A.R.E.I.Business Response

Unless ************** allows us to visit the location and at least attempt any resolution there's not much I can do. If there are legitimate issues we would of course correct them. But it can't go from a few issues to the entire house is destroyed. You were there the entire time of this install and insisted that this roof needed to be re-sheeted even though *******, our crew leader, told you it did not need to be. When your dealing with an older home and someone insisting things are done are a certain way, even though it's not needed but can be done, there's a potential for unforeseen consequencesCustomer Answer

Problem: failure to return deposit.I signed an order Feb. 2, 2023 for a new roof, writing a check for down payment of $1254.00. However, after reconsideration, on Friday, Feb. 3, I mailed (Certified Mail Receipt) cancelation of the transaction (HICPA Compliance, LLC 2009). That cancelation was received by American Remodeling Enterprises Monday Feb. 6, 2023. On Feb. 13 I called to enquire about my deposit and was told by ******** that, since my check had already been deposited, that the company would issue and mail a check in the amount of $1254. However, record from my bank shows the company deposited my check Feb. 13 and, as of Feb. 24, Ive not received refund of my down payment of $1254.00.Business Response

We had an appointment with the company on 2/22/22 to evaluate for possible kitchen remodel as well as to replace a window and sliding door to our walk out basement. We opted to holdoff on the kitchen, but did proceed and signed a contract for the window and sliding door to be replaced. The contract was signed and an initial payment of $1,920 was payed at time of signing for pending work to be completed. Anticipated completion date listed on the contract was May 23 2022. I reached out to the company on multiple times with reassurances that the work would be completed, but that they were waiting on some materials to be delivered. There was a text massage sent from Mel on March 8th 2022 asking for me to call, but I text back that I was at work and asked an email to be sent. No email was sent. I did not receive any further contact from them after that. My wife got a few texts in regards to taking pictures of the space prior to the project around April 2022 and a woman did show up and take pictures stating the work was scheduled to start in a few weeks. It's now almost a year later and we have received no further contact and the work has not been completed. I did get a text on 12/13/22 asking for my review of the company. Again, no work has been completed, no one has contacted us with date for the work to be completed.Business Response

4/15/22 we signed an 81k contract. Spent hours with Sharon. Very pleased and we hand them a15k deposit. 4/16/22 Jason comes out to verify measurements. We hand him 2 changes including photos. He said not a problem to anything we want. Still pleased. 7/21/22 we call to see how progress is going and if our start date of 8/1/22 is looking good. Transferred to Robert. He replied rudely with an I don’t know in a couple. How long is a couple? I don’t know, I’ll have to get back to you. Not so pleased. 7/27/22 Robert does call us back. He replied with middle of September. I ask about permits and if we are approved as is. He said permits are not a problem. We say how can you schedule if you have no permits? What if modifications are needed? No response. Robert asked if any changes were made because he’s about to order product. We explain about changes made with Jason and he knew nothing about them.( note: permits were not applied for until 7.2222 and not approved until 8.1.22). Becoming more displeased about lack of communication and rudeness. 9.30.22 No communication for weeks again. We call them. Robert again. Promised 1 to 2 weeks. 10.31.22 still no communication from them. We call again and request the owner contact us. 11/2/22 having never received a returned call, we call again and ask for our money back. It was explained to us that the VP, Ian, would have to call us back. 1 hour later a man named Mike called us and said he would be our project manager. They want to put us on the schedule for Tuesday the 8th. We explain our apprehensions because of being promised over and over and let it be known 811 has not been here yet, and how can you start digging without that? No response to that question. We want a letter stating they will be here everyday until completion and not disappear after a hole is dug and another 10k has been handed over. Now, very uncomfortable we ask again for our money back. 11/3/22 Ian calls. Unapologetic and rudeBusiness Response

I had a new roof and gutters installed on my house September 21, 22nd 2022. There is part of the food where it looks like the drip edge was installed incorrectly causing the shingles to be lifted up. The gutter and downspouts were not installed correctly. The gutter is not tight against the facia in many places causing it to look crooked. The downspout iwas not installed correctly and is not secured to the outside wall in many places. It looks terrible and blows around in the wind. It appears there was no quality assurance done on this job by the company. On the section of gutter guard on the back side of the garage, it appears it is missing a seal leaving a gap the entire length of the gutter.Business Response
