I applied for a NEW roof last summer. The first application for a loan stated new roof the second one they removed the new and it just said roof. They came, removed the shingles left all my 70 yr old shiplap boards on the roof patched the edges of the roof with plywood and reshingled it. I was supposed to get gutters and when the roofers were done I was told their gutter people didn't come out this far and they took 2k off the bill. Charged me 18k for shingles and a few pieces of plywood around the edges.. when I asked why it wasn't a NEW roof the guy asked me like I was and idiot what a new roof meant to me!! New = new boards , new plywood new shingles my 12 yr old can tell you what a brand new roof means...edges of rafters are rotting all they did was cut small pieces of board and attach it to the rotting boards of the rafters. I asked for an itemized bill to see exactly where 18 grand went and got no response. I have been calling for 9 months because their high powered nail guns cracked all the old ship lap boards and I have water leaking all over now. I had to go all winter catching water from my kitchen window with buckets and towels and there is now wall damage in the kitchen. I have new water spots in my living room, my bedroom and my grandsons room. I started calling before winter so it's not a ventilation issue.. they have ignored my phone calls keep telling me someone will call me back and no one does. Someone came out in January and took pictures of water leaks and said he was going to recommend the whole roof gets redone and the damages to my house get repaired because it wasn't a leak he could fix he only fixes small leaks and no one has returned my calls since. I was told at one point I'd be put on the schedule and again no one called me back. I am being ignored and ghosted while their roof destroys my house.Business Response

In response to the complaint:
We had a technician field visit on 5/30/25 to evaluate the concerns. We agreed with the homeowner that all parties wanted to wait until the snow was gone to evaluate any issues. Upon inspection, the roof was installed correctly and the contract was completed in full. The leaking and moisture are a result of the ventilation or lack thereof in the home. There is condensation on the windows and ceilings due to lack of proper heating and venting. We inspected the underside of the roof with the homeowner to show that the wood is completely dry. The moisture and leaking are a result of a different problem independent of the roof. Furthermore, the lack of gutters on the home are not helping water run off and moisture in the basement on through some windows when heavy rain occurs. We did not contract for gutters.
The homeowner is an agreement and was grateful we came back to provide further insight. Both parties have agreed this matter is closed. I have attached pictures of the completed work.
Thank you

As i will not be made out to be a liar, gutters were indeed supposed to be and were originally contracted into this job. i sat in my living room and discussed all new boards and gutters. the gutters were the reason for the new roof because they couldn't attach gutters to the rotted edges i agreed to replacing the WHOLE roof.. the gutters are the reason i accepted the project in the first place and the original bill was $20k and they took off $2k after the roof was done and told me their gutter people did not come out here. Shingles do not cost $18k. and i am still waiting for a copy of the itemized bill to show me where my $18k went. my kitchen window did not need buckets to catch water till after they did the roof.. i understand this ventilation and condensation thing they are talking about but that can swing both ways not enough and to much and as my roof did not do that before the work was done and i am NOT satisfied with them saying there is nothing wrong with it i have called another roofing company to come inspect my roof. Home owner funding opened up the peak of my roof more than it was before and added a bigger ridge vent than before which could of caused to much ventilation and can cause condensation as well. There was enough materials delivered into my front yard to replace the full roof because that is what was originally discussed, all of a sudden their paperwork doesn't show a single osb board on the paperwork which i don't see how there would be NONE contracted onto that paper when they knew the edges had to be fixed cause they were rotted out. I feel like i have been taken advantage of, and possibly papers got changed to cover their butts. most companies record their conversations and if the conversations from when i called after the roof was done are brought up it should be heard of him telling me their gutter people don't come out here. the gutters were the whole reason for the new roof. i attached a picture of the materials delivered into my yard as you can see there is enough for the whole roof to get done like i discussed with the sales person in the beginning. there are also 2 pictures of the roof after they took the shingles off.. the one section you can tell just how bad the OLD shiplap boards are. they are over 70yrs old i wanted them replaced and i agreed to them all being replaced. all they did was they patched in small pieces of OSB boards which apparently weren't on their contract, yet were in my yard and needed for a roof job to begin with and re shingled it. this roof is not worth $18k and has caused damage to my house. there is no way that new shingles caused that much of a ventilation issue when my house was just fine before. i had an occasional drip which is why i wanted a NEW roof.Initial Complaint

I had Borrell Construction build a Garage addition on to my house that would also act as a flat roof deck. I notified *** ******** times about the walls still leaking and that there was a soft spot in the deck floor itself. He said he will send someone out look at it, nobody showed up to look at it and come up with a solution. The soft spot in the deck floor has tripled in size. It feels like wood it rotting to me. Since the deck is cover with tuffdek it is hard for me to see. *** told me to pull the drywall down from in the garage to see what I can see, that is when I asked *** to send his guys out to look at it since it was their work. He said he will send ***** out. that was 8 months ago, and it is just getting worse. I am asking for them to either fix it so there are no leaks in the walls or a refund for the garage build so I can have another company come out and do it.Business Response

In July 2019, I hired Homeowner funding to install vinyl siding and a sliding glass door. We financed the entire $34,862 through a bank associated with Homeowner Funding. The work was completed in the fall of 2019 with a full warranty. In the fall of 2024, I called the company because the door they installed caused water to enter my home rotting the floor and misaligning the door. They sent someone out to assess the damage, and we were told it would be repaired. This was 6 months ago. I have called no fewer that one a month for an update, and all I have been told is that they would reach out to the person who assessed the damage and they would call me back. For 6 months we have heard nothing. As I live in ********, I have had to endure extreme cold coming from the improperly installed door. My heating costs have skyrocketed up. All I originally wanted was to have my door repaired under warranty. Now I feel they should be responsible for the heat in cost as wellBusiness Response

Homeowner Funding replaced my roof in August, 2024 for roughly ****** dollars (financed through Service Financial). The contractors they hired replaced "7 panels" of the ply-wood sub-roofing. Upon a branch breaching through my roof during a small storm, it has become apparent that ALL of the sub-roofing needed to be replaced, a revelation validated since by a seperate, unaffiliated, but certified contractor. I was never contacted by the original contractors Homeowner Funding hired and warned that extra work needed to be completed, they simply opted NOT to replace the rotten sub-roofing, instead hiding it with fresh shingles.I can't use my insurance to fix my roof because the problem, clearly, lies with the incompletion of the work that I, unwittingly, signed for.I've been attempting for upwards of three weeks to get Homeowner Funding to send the contractors back here to ameliorate this. Winter is rapidly approaching, I am desperately unsure if my roof will survive a heavy snowfall in this condition.Interestingly enough, when I call Homeowner Funding I am routinely passed from operator to operator until, inevitably, the phone will ring uselessly until I get an answering machine, telling me that they are unavailable in one form or another ("The person who handles complaints isn't in today," "It is a busy time for us." ***. Etc.)Everytime I call, this happens. I have made it more-than clear that this is an emergent situation multiple times now.The ONLY instance I received a follow-up call was AFTER I made it clear I was going to report them, to which the operator told me that "they would leave a message with (insert-x) employee and that I would hear back from them by Monday, December ****** is Wednesday, December 11th, no return call.I called them again today (the 11th) and was transferred lines, yet again, only to get an answering machine apologizing for unavailability.Unacceptable practice, bordering on intentionally deceptive.Business Response

We spoke to the customer today and straightened everything out. We sent him pictures of the new OSB that we replaced when we did the roof. We did not sell or charge for any OSB under our original contract but found that it was necessary after we removed the original shingles and discovered the problem. This extra work was done at no charge to the customer.
As a courtesy,we sent another copy of the work contract to the customer, which does confirm that new roof decking was NOT included.
He was very nice and said there simply was miscommunication with him and the sales representative.Initial Complaint

It has now gone silence a follow up email went out on 07/23 to them and again today on 08/27 phone calls were also attempted but ***** now answers.I just want my window replaced without this chasing around.....I had a horrible experience with this company putting my windows in, i was hopeful that if i ever needed to reach out for a cliam it would be different, but they have showed that that's not the case.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
A meeting was scheduled with **************** today to try and work this out. **************** requested that I not be on my own property when he comes to meet with my husband (a possible threat from him?). He contacted my husband while on the way to our house saying he was bringing one of his employees who has stolen from us and made direct threats towards my husband. Still willing to meet, my husband simply requested that only **************** come to the meeting and that this employee not attend and remain off of our property. Apparently this wasnt an option so **************** never showed up and now its a major issue when it shouldnt be.

Complaint: 21969686
I am rejecting this response because:**************** met with my husband, ***, last week and made an agreement. The project was agreed to be completed in 3 weeks time. Since then, no one has shown up to work. They have been lying to us about why they can't come or why they aren't working. We have evidence to back this up, including videos caught on our security cameras. One of the reasons was an employee supposedly had court on the 4th of July. This has been a reoccurring problem throughout the entire project that began in October 2023. They are purposefully dragging out the process and continually demanding more money in order to continue. They claim that they don't think we will pay the remainder of the contract. No one said that we wouldn't. At this time, no money is due and the contract hasn't even been fulfilled up until what we paid so far. Also, none of the work that was instructed by the building inspector to be repaired has been completed. Material was stolen from us on this job site and then magically returned when my husband agreed to pay them more money ahead of the contract, once again. It is extortion and unacceptable. **************** says he plans on finishing this project, but his promises are repeatedly broken. There is no evidence to show that he intends on finishing the contract. No work has been done here since 7/11/24, proving that his messages to the Better Business Bureau have been lies. Lastly, when meeting with my husband for this fake agreement, **************** demanded that I make my reviews of the company "disappear" and that I discontinue communication with the Better Business Bureau, yet another attempt at manipulation. His exact words to my husband were asking his wife to "stand down" if we wanted to come to any sort of agreement.

Our message got prematurely sent.
I am rejecting this response because:**************** originally made the same statement in February to elicit a ***** dollar payment ahead of schedule stating he did not have enough to continue working without the early payment. He assured us the exterior of the home would be completed within a week of that payment, however, he cashed the check and then disappeared for 5 weeks before sending workers back to the house. He made the same statement 2 weeks ago when we had an in person meeting where he insisted we continue making more payments again for work to continue again. After being forced to agree to his new terms since we are being held hostage by him not continuing work, I inquired as to when the job would be completed and he said he needed 3 weeks to finish completely. He was at the house for a meeting for the inspector to show him the many shortcomings of their work and to negotiate work to continue after one of his employees came to our home on a Saturday with 2 other gentlemen after not being paid by **************** and proceeded to steal material that was already stained, bought and paid for. That employee was so off color and rude when my wife inquired as to what was going on that the police had to be called to ensure her safety. **************** and his employee deny that anything was taken, however upon his employee returning to deliver materials and drop off his construction trailer, the material was brought back. Again, this was only after we were coerced into promising more payments for the work to proceed. It is my belief that him and his employees set up these elaborate schemes to elicit responses and try to get us to pay money when it is not owed. He is holding us hostage by not continuing work when for months he says he is just mere days and weeks away from being finished. His new tactic is saying he does not trust us to pay him when we have never given him a bad check and have made payments either on schedule, or ahead of schedule. **************** has also been aware for weeks that there is an unsafe electrical issue in the addition where there are literal sparking sounds and lights flickering when you turn the switch on. He could not care less. We have been sleeping on our couch for months, as the purpose for the addition was for our toddler to have her own bedroom when she moved out of her crib. We have begged and pleaded with ****************, but he seems to be quite content with delaying this job as long as he can, and does so even more every time we write to BBB or write a review on his company. If he was so concerned with his reputation, he would be making much more of an effort to clear his name and the poor quality work and craftsmenship we have received thus far. He refuses to answer any questions in writing via text messages or emails. He tells you everything you want to hear in person and then does the exact opposite when it comes to making good on his word. When you ask him, he either deflects the questions or flat out refuses to respond. If he was in the right in this instance, then why would he be so unwilling to put anything in writing. **************** also changed the plans and submitted them and tried to refuse to give me a copy of the drawings. We had a suana in our plans from the very beginning which he agreed to install as part of the scope of work. He is not completely refusing to acknowledge he agreed to this and even went as far as to change it on the plans. We have plenty of correspondence to back up everything we are stating in these complaints and would relish the opportunity to prove him wrong and prove he is deliberately being deceitful in order to back out of his obligations. He states that we are such a problematic couple to work for. If **************** and his employees would do the job correctly and in a timely manner the first time and not have to do it 2 and 3 times, he would have received not complaints from us. From the very beginning **************** promises you anything you want within reason and then complains when you ask him to make good on that promise. He will tell you in person he is willing to do something and then when it comes time to make good on it, he complains or flat out denies that he ever said it. His employees have deliberately attempted to deceive us and the inspector on more than one occasion and tries to deny any wrongdoing when it is clearly obvious that it was deliberate. The inspector himself has said they deliberately tried to deceive us. This job could have been done months ago had he not tried to cut every corner possible in an attempt to maximize his profits, which we are told by his own employees is typically 40 percent of the total cost of any job he does. If **************** would like to continue this back and forth and deny responsibility, we can also post the 80 pages of reports that had to be submitted to the attorney general in an attempt to get him to continue working without extorting us. I might also add, he did not respond to that either. His statement that there are men on site working is also false. In 2 weeks employees have showed up here on 2 different days working no more than 4 hours on each of those days. Unless his idea of people on site is dropping off a trailer and then never showing up again. We only ask that **************** complete what he has said he will do and then everyone can move on with their lives. He seems intent on making sure this is as painful an experience as possible as retribution for questioning him and his employees. I hope no one has to endure what we have had to endure with this contractor and his employees.

I paid Homeowner Funding 11,500$ for a new roof that was not sealed properly around the vent boot that has now led to 16 -19 thousand dollars worth of damage. Water pour off the left back corner of the house as if someone turned on a faucet also allowing water in * when I called the company about the issues I was back burnered * told "we have Noone in your area." Finally after 3 months of pestering the service supervisor *** they sent out a couple of ppl who told me it was my fault because their were leaves on the roof so they proceeded to sweep the roof off * caulked vent boot. SAME PROBLEM happened the very next day which I took video of * sent to supervisor who assured me problem would be reassessed which they completely forgot me for the next 3 weeks till I threatened to sue * even after that never showed up but instead tried to blame me even though I've now acquired 15 -20 thousand dollars worth of water damage now. Also flashing around chimney is not flush as if it was never replaced * the drip edge has sections that are flush to side the roof then areas where it sticks out a few inches away from edge roof as well allowing more water in. Also paid this company $1,500 to replace/repair any soffet/fascia that was In need of repair yet I still have gaps along the corners of fascia in 2 corners allowing water in that way as well. The whole deal is a nightmare * when I spoke w the sales manager of the company he flat out refused to accept responsibility or even acknowledge any responsibility even w me calling them out on the issues for over three months now.Business Response

In regard to complaint ...
We sold this customer a roof replacement for a shingle tear off along with approximately 100 sq foot of flat roofing at the apex of the home. Prior to installation, the homeowner called and requested a quote on soffit, fascia, and gutters. This project was completed and signed off in satisfaction in August of 2021. The home does in fact have EPDM flat roofing around the perimeter of the home that we did not contract for. Our contract only accounted for the shingle aspect of the roof.
We did not hear again from this customer for 3 years when he called to say the roof was leaking. We immediately sent a service on on 2/9/24. Our tech's findings was that the interior Yankee gutter system was entirely blocked. We did not install this section of the roof, but as a courtesy, we cleaned the blocked drain. The flat roof section was entirely covered by wet leaves and debris. In our professional, expert opinion, the Yankee gutter system is leaking and needs repair. We cannot repair this issue at no cost. The flat roof area nor gutter system is covered by our warranty given the fact that we only installed the shingle portion of the roof. I have attached a picture of the area in question that we believe to be the cause of the water damage. We also recommend the customer to install a screen or cover to help filter out leaves/debris.
Thank you.

In regard to the above complaint:
The roof was installed and completed in the Fall of 2022. Due to the age and layers of the roof, when it was removed in ordered to be replaced, a gap was left on the dormer walls. The removal of the depth left an area of unfinished siding. The roof is installed correctly and covered by warranty. However, we plan as a courtesy, to install composite trim board in the unfinished area. This is not related to the roof, but it will help the ascetics of the home. We are doing this at no additional cost to the homeowner.
We plan to install this trim work when the weather cooperates, and we will report back when concluded.
Thank you

We signed an agreement on 10/3/2018 to get our siding replaced by Homeowner Funding. The order# is ******** and we paid $7961.00. The project was completed in January of 2018. Since then on Sunday 1/21/2024, our siding out back is falling off the house. My husband and I have both called and left messages with the company about repairing the siding. No one has called us back to rectify the situation. I told them that I would be contacting the BBB and then my lawyer if they do not call me back. They still have not responded.Business Response

I have contacted Homeowner funding on January 31st at ***** pm and this time someone answered the phone. She sent me an email, so that I could send a picture of my siding. She said that they would get back to me about the next steps, however I still haven't heard anything. I sent a follow up email yesterday with no response from the company. I'm very frustrated right now.Initial Complaint

On 11/30/23 I had someone from HomeOwners Funding Borrell construction *** and do measurements, then I received a call on December 8, 2023 from ***, who works for HOFDBCC, that someone needed to come out and take measurements again on the same things that measurements were already taken. So a guy came out on Dec 14, ************************************************************ Nov 2023. I didnt receive any updates from *** and on Jan 11, **** I called *** and left a message with *** to call me immediately because I was canceling my order. I phoned ************ (which who I was approved of funding through) and asked the representative if they have already sent payment to ***, the representative from ************ stated that they had not sent payment. So I explained to Ally Lending that I ran into some financial difficulties and I needed to cancel the loan since no monies were paid out, Ally Lending DID proceed with stopping the loan under Dispute .. ************ also reached out to *** and they Did Not receive a call back. I reached out to *** several times on Jan 11, 12, 13, **** with no response whatsoever.. then I finally received a call from a guy name *** from Borrell on Jan 24, **** stating that I cant cancel my order because the windows were a special order, I explained to *** that i canceled that order by leaving several messages on Jan 11, 12, 13 as well as with ************, *** became vocal and rude by telling me I have no other choice but to pay for the 2 windows, I explained to him why I canceled my order due to financial reasons and *** tried to strong arm and harass me. *** also showed up at my home on Jan 25, **** UNANNOUNCED, and left a message on my phone after he showed up to my home .. this is pure harassment in all forms.. and I will be contacting a lawyer on this matter. No money was ever exchanged and no work was ever completed.Customer Answer

In regard to the below complaint..
We contracted with the homeowner for custom doors, windows, and to install a new basement staircase on 12/7/23. We set up a second visit to measure and order the products. When they were ready to be installed, we contacted the homeowner to set up the installation of which she refused. There were multiple calls and messages due to no response, but by no means was it harassment. There was a contract and financing agreement signed along with custom ordered products. We dispute the implications of harassment. We would be happy to discuss the matter with the customer's attorney as she mentioned, but we were never given any name or contact. Our ultimate goal would be to complete the work as contracted, but if that cannot be agreed on, then at the very least, we need payment for the custom matieral.
We look forward to an amicable resolution.
Thank you*******************
