I have a current AAA Plus membership which entitles me to 4 road side assistance calls per year and goes up to 100miles. I had borrowed and been driving a car owned by my mother for a few months when its started having mechanical issues. I was able to get to a service station but they could not pinpoint the issue. When I attempted to drive it home from the service station it wouldnt run for more than a minute or two and not long enough to even get out of there lot. The owner agreed I could leave it there and come back for it. My mom wanted it towed back to a shop near her that has serviced it in the past and is about 70 miles from where it became disabled. I called and requested a tow from AAA but they are refusing even though it is within the allotted mile range. Their reason is that it is not an emergency, that their are service shops close by who can repair the make and model car I have and because they do not tow outside of Berks county. None of these factors are listed anywhere in AAA policies. The policy clearly states that it will provide a tow to the destination of my choice within 100miles of the location where the car is disabled. They are offering that they will tow up to 5 miles and then that I need to pay $5/ additional mile over that which would be $300-$400! That is the basic membership benefit when I have elected and pay for and they even agree that I have the plus level membership. I do not know what else to do because I have spoken to them twice and tried using the app but they have flagged my account so any attempt to get service I make is cancelled! I want them to honor their commitment and provide the service I paid for as stated in their policy

      Dear *** *****,

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. Upon receiving your letter, I investigated this incident, first contacting *** ********* to discuss her concerns. After speaking with ***** ***, it is clear that this complaint was not filed by her and someone else is trying to use her membership benefits.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have had this discussion with ***** ***, and she is aware that someone is trying to use her membership. At this point, I'm thinking we need to issue her an entirely different membership number to prevent this situation from reoccurring.

As for the original reason for denying service to whomever was requesting service, the issue was someone had upgraded this membership from our Classic coverage to Plus coverage in an attempt to get the extended tow mileage benefit. The issue was that the membership was upgraded on October 11th, and the service request was put in on October 16th; there is a 7-day waiting period for those benefits to start and that was explained on a recorded line to the person requesting service. That same person waited an additional two days to put in a second request and was once again denied service for the same reason.

The person requesting service had filed two complaints online and both were fully investigated. It was determined at that time that someone other than Kayla was attempting to use her membership. ***** *** told me that she had no issues with us. For those reasons, we closed the online complaints and will be closing this complaint.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

      Best regards,
      Vice President, Automotive Services

AAA Stole $165 from me. Their agent knew he didnt call a tow and had me wait for hours in a dangerous road. When I called him back he lied and said the tow was still coming and he refused to call the tow company. Bills Emergency towing was never called they have no record of recieving a call. YOUR AGENT LIED BECAUSE HE WAS LAZY AND SOUNDED TIRED FROM WORKING NIGHT SHIFT.HE WAS PRACTICALLY ASLEEP.Myself, the police, and emts were all at this breakdown in the middle of a dangerous road while you agent screwed around. You actually created a public safety issue.I want a refund for the $165 and my yearly fee. Now AAA has been using the kill line "we dont do refunds after 30 days ". GET THIS KILL LINE AWAY. YOUVE SAID IT 100 TIMES, ITS NOT AN APPROPRIATE ANSWER. I am not asking for a refund per normal policy , I am requesting a refund because your agent engaged in fraud by stating a tow truck was coming when he knmowing did not make the call and actually doubled down on his mistake by refusing to call the tow company and instead try to cover it.AAA has ruined my life and Im going to start mutilating myself in response. I called AAA Central Berks and told them this and they choose to do nothing. The world is going to see me hurting myself and their going to remember the scum name of AAA. IF THE $165 is worth it you earned it you evil monsters. Everyones just meat to generate profit from you. Imagine me bleeding in the streets and and I could say look AAA leaves you to suffer in the streets just like you did on thanksgiving. This is your business model you should be happy another scum trash bleeds for AAA. Woohoo. YOU monsters are evil and you need to have someone competent talk to me.Attached is the receipt with Ardnts towing stating that AAA never arrived. They are contracted by the police so theyre pretty reputable.

We will need further information to research the complaint from ***************  We will need his full address (letter only contained his zip code of *****) and a date of service for which he is complaining.  We are happy to further investigate once some of the questions (address and date of service—membership # would also be helpful) are answered.  Thank you .
