1 starThis has got to be one of the most putrid places I have ever lived in my entire life. If I could give this place a zero star, I would. Aside from the cockroach infestation… Getting anything fixed is almost impossible. I have about 20 work orders out with no resolution after months of requesting. The cockroach problem has not been even addressed by management and they could care less about their residents. The water heater smells like someone came and took a dump in my pipes, with cockroaches piling out of them in the middle of the night. My bathroom flooded twice and their solution was to patch holes and now my bathroom smells like straight mold. The washer and dryer don't work, the dishwasher is literally not usable. My sink fell out and my toilets have all broken several times and I've had to fix it all because of the non-response times of the maintenance workers. I suggest you skip living in any Greystar community as they will never let you out of your lease and they will never assist you and then you are forced to spend thousands of dollars to break your lease to get out of their disgusting repulsive excuse of a place to live.Review fromGioia L

1 starThe leasing office was incredibly rude to me on the move in of my daughter. I spoke with a man who talked over the top of me. They lost everything we sent them and then on top of that no man should treat a woman as I was treated this a.m.Review fromFrancis B

1 starPrior to Greystar management taking over the Bela in Jersey City was really nice. Since the took over they gutted the staff to barebones, packages went missing since the concierge position was eliminated, and building managers seem to come and go. That being said we left over 6 months ago and still have not received the refund for our security deposit which seems to be a trend on many forums when it comes to Greystar run buildings. I wouldn't put any deposit money down with them and have any expectation of ever receiving it back when you leave. Unfortunately, it seems we'll have to sue them if we ever want to see our money returned.Review fromTrey N

1 starGreystar: Predatory, Unethical, and Under Federal Lawsuit Greystar is not just a negligent landlord—they are a corporate predator operating under the illusion of professionalism while exploiting tenants nationwide. They are currently being sued in a federal class action lawsuit (Case No. 25CV1090 AGS BLM, filed 4/29/25 in the Southern District of California) for deceptive rent practices, hidden fees, and widespread tenant abuse. Their business model prioritizes profit over people. They employ unlicensed property managers, ignore health and safety violations, and fail to enforce their own lease policies—including in federally subsidized or student housing. When tenants report issues like mold, secondhand drug exposure, or discrimination, Greystar retaliates instead of resolving. Rather than respond in good faith, Greystar escalates complaints by hiring *******, ***** & *** **** LLP, a firm known for sending aggressive, baseless legal threats designed to silence tenants and intimidate those who assert their legal rights. Greystar has been linked to rent-gouging schemes involving ********, an algorithm now under DOJ scrutiny for driving up housing prices across the country. Do not rent from Greystar. Their conduct is not only unethical—it’s dangerous. If you are a tenant experiencing retaliation, gaslighting, or toxic conditions, know that you are not alone. Greystar is under investigation because tenants spoke out. Keep records, contact tenant rights groups, and protect yourself.Review fromTina T

1 starCorrupt. They do not return calls after numerous voicemails. They will give you the run around just to avoid logging disputes and then will turn around and report yout account to collections.Review fromLarisa B

1 starOne year ago I submitted an application to move in to Verano Homes. I was told verbally by the property manager that if I was approved for a "co-signer" via The Guarantors, then my application with Verano would be approved. I paid $1,500 for the co-signer program and was approved. When I came to Verano with my approval they denied my application. It took multiple phone calls and emails and several months to receive my refund from the Guarantors due to my denied application with Verano. I continue to receive emails from Verano stating my application is unfinished and overdue. I've called and emailed multiple times within the last 12 months and asked that my application is closed and canceled. I have been ignored and hung up on. I have attempted to contact Verano and Greystar with no success.Review fromLynda F.

1 starThis complex is biased against white people. 80 to 90 percent Hispanic and they treated us like the enemy. Complain about the loud music at 3am, your racist. Complain about the illegal car lot in front of your unit and your racist. We were harassed by the people selling cars illegally. We were told we were the problem because we complained. We paid our rent on time ,we followed the rules but were denied a renewal on our lease without explanation. It was obvious. They count on people who won't complain because they can't for one reason or another. They don't do things according to city code and won't explain how they come up with their water bill charges. Very shady management company.
