I hired a Lebanese freight company called Boueri Freight services to ship used household goods to my address in Strongsville, Ohio. Carrie international Freight was the US shipper. I paid them a total of $7,352.33. I received the shipment on August 23. Many of the furniture arrived broken and damaged (shattered mirrors x4, heavily stained large sofa (which is part of a set), broken sofas legs and arms, 2 broken night stands, shoe closet and picture frames.
I contacted Boueiri and their answer was that nothing can be done because I did not buy insurance.
I contacted Don M********* from Carrie about the damages and requested reimbursement, but he denied my claim because:
1- I did not buy marine insurance,
2- my household goods are USED,
3- they received the shipment to NY dock CLEAN and they blame me for poor packaging.

    My defense is:
1- The furniture was packed by Boueri not by myself (i have proof)
2- The items are used but not broken (packing slip labeled the items used- nothing broken)
3- The items were packaged with cardboard and it is impossible to see through to tell whether items were damaged or not. The damage was seen after unpacking- that is why, the statement "dock signed clean" is not accurate (i have pictures of the boxes completely sealed upon arrival to my garage).

Both Boueri and Carrie should be held accountable for the damages. They cannot prove where the damage took place since the furniture was wrapped and invisible from outside.
I paid them what they asked for to bring my stuff to the US and they were supposed to bring it in one piece. Not buying insurance, does not mean they can be reckless and damage all my furniture.
I am asking them for $10,000 in reimbursement.

Hello  The goods were shipped (not by us) as loose freight from Lebanon to Rotterdam, then Rotterdam to New York and then New York to Cleveland. being handled/reloaded at each point.  We arranged  ONLY the Customs Clearance and local delivery from the Cleveland warehouse (where this shipment was sent)  to Strongsville, OH (about 26 miles). We were not paid $7352.33.  The goods were delivered without any notation of damage by the customer. We did not damage the goods.

I am rejecting this response because: Carrie as a shipper, should take responsibility for the damages. the total payment made to the lebanese shipper includes Carrie fees. The damage was only seen upon opening the wrapped boxes after delivery was made.

    Sincerely,

    Nariman H*****

Hello once again the shipment was improperly packaged by the cargo owner,(the forwarder in Lebanon wrapped the packages but did not pack the goods0   it was shipped from Lebanon to Rotterdam in  a container with other cargo, there it was unloaded and inspected by Netherlands Customs, then it was reloaded into another container and shipped to New York. Then it was unloaded again and then reloaded into a truck with other cargo and shipped to Cleveland, where is was unloaded again.  We arranged for trucking from Cleveland direct to consignee  trip of 29 miles.  The owner of the cargo signed a clean delivery receipt. We did not damage the shipment, We did not stain the shipment.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

All involved parties transporting the goods are responsible for the damage.
Again, delivery signed clean is inaccurate. Damage was discovered upon unpacking. Sincerely,

    Nariman H*****

"delivery signed clean is inaccurate. Damage was discovered upon unpacking"

this only proves the facts that the goods were improperly packed by you in the first place since no damage to the outside of the packages.
