    On 5/19/2025, my family moved and acquired the College Hunks and Hauling services for our move. The gentlemen who came out were very professional and speedy with the move. Before our move, someone came out and took photos of what needed to be moved, a three-bedroom, fully furnished apartment. On the day of our move, the truck was not large enough to accommodate everything we needed to move. So some items were left that could not fit on the truck. When we got to unload at the new place, 2 of the 3 beds could not be reassembled because the pieces were broken we now have to purchase bed frames to assemble the beds. Our dishes were all broken and we will have to purchase new dishes. The biggest damage was our 65-inch LG UHD 4K 3D Smart TV; the screen was cracked in several places and no longer worked. The movers made us aware of the dishes and the TV, and took photos of the TV, and we took more photos at the company's request for the claim to be filed, because we purchased the insurance. The company wants to compensate us $45, which is not enough for us to replace the TV. We went with option 2 to replace our TV. We would like the business to either refund the cost of our move so we can purchase a replacement TV, or replace it with the same TV brand and features as the one that was damaged.

    The company operates as College Hunks, but our payments came through as Simmons Moving LLC.

    Movers were grossly incompetent - I witnessed our pinball machine being dragged across the hardwood floor in great room. One man pushing this expensive property. Result: Pinball machine isn’t working properly anymore.
    They didn’t know how to load a POD, truck, or storage unit. Result: several damaged items including the dining room table, Maitland Smith game table, and leather chair
    Movers engaged in a loud profanity laced argument in our driveway. Result: emotional distress and verbal apologies to neighbors
    We witnessed the washing machine fall off of their truck while they attempted to unload to the storage unit. Result: damaged beyond repair

    -Move date/date of transaction was June 28th, 2024.
    -Movers showed up and hit the garage door of our condo complex, when the HOA asked the driver about it, the driver got confrontational and asked "why it was his problem". The driver/lead mover got into two other arguments with the HOA manager while onsite and overall was highly unprofessional and confrontational the entire time. Every item that was moved was carelessly handled and complete disregard was shown to both the building and my items that they were moving. I saw several boxes and items get dropped during the process of the move and since the items were being moved into a storage pod for shipment, I have not had a chance to inspect the items yet. They did drop and break one nightstand in the hallway that I ended up having to get rid of myself as well. I realize that the moving company is no longer responsible for the items once they are put into the pod, but I saw damage to my items being done while they were being moved by the movers.
    -During the move itself, the hydraulic lift on the moving truck was not working and the two movers spent close to 40-45 minutes trying to fix it (time which we were charged for).
    - I had to end up helping the movers move items myself, as they kept handing me boxes from the truck and asking me to help pick up the other end of heavy pieces of furniture. I ended up doing probably 1/3 of the moving myself.
    -The complete carelessness and disregard of my property, the arguments with the HOA manager and all-around unprofessionalism, and time that was wasted and charged for the broken hydraulic lift, and the fact that I had to help them move and also babysit them are all things that I think need to be taken off of the bill.

    I had initially left a google review, and I have yet to speak with anyone at the business despite multiple phone calls, voicemails, text messages, etc. All attempts to contact them have gone unanswered.

    College Hunks performed their service for their client, a resident of the building / HOA at this location. Upon College Hunks arrival to the building's loading bay, the driver did not recognize a clearance issue and proceeded to hit the loading dock door, and didn't stop, but tried to continue into the loading dock having already hit the door. A staff member got the driver's attention to stop, so that the door could be raised further to allow entry clearance. Based on the observed condition of the truck (previous damage), physical contact between truck and others is not unusual. I'll add for information only that the 'U' in the company name stands for 'Uniformed' but this crew leader was not uniformed. Nor was he pleasant in the attempt to discuss this initial incident, which he did not, nor offer the contact information for anyone to discuss later. I immediately tried to call the local office to obtain insurance information and certificates, and 13 days later have not received any information or call back to the initial call, subsequent calls or calls and messages relayed to/through the call center. I see from a previous posting here that there is email and response through this BBB site, but the email address is blocked out, so please, respond and get in contact with me to deal with the situation at this property. The vendor for door service has been out once, and further adjustment is necessary. Please, take some responsibility for your business and damage caused and get in contact.

    Paid $436 for a moving job that entailed missing parts to a 5K bed for my mother with a bad hip and back who needs surgery. Entailed broken TV stand entertainment system, broken electric sofa chair from rooms 2 go that has missing plug. 5K tempurpedic bed with missing legs and electrical adaptor for plug that wasn't installed correctly let alone parts missing that it needs to be installed correctly. Filthy with stains. missing drawer to dresser.

    Mover who was assigned notably had issues before this job per supervisor. Mover asked for a tip before job was complete or done correctly - missing parts were in truck still. Mover left with part in truck. Mover was then fired after I revealed he lied to me about completing the job and even particularly lied about successfully putting bed together or at least down with all parts accounted for. Supervisor promised to make whole again by getting spar parts and coming out to fix but he then ignored me completely and literally went back on his word in its entirety.

    I hired packers from this company. 3 guys for 6hrs. On May 22nd, they came out and worked for 4hrs. While there they continued to ask for things of mine and seemed more concerned with chatting than packing. After they left I realized a loaded firearm was taken. I checked my camera footage and checked all over my house to ensure it wasn’t misplaced. I contacted the police and filed a report. I contacted the company and made a report. I was ensured it would be taken seriously and I would get a full refund. After a week and no refund I was told I would receive a partial refund. Still no refund. No one is answering or returning my calls. I am out packets for the rest of the time, a fire arm and $700.

    Customer sent us the videos from her home and we spoke with the police and reviewed the videos with them. The videos do not show any of our employees with any gun. Also the customer has already been refunded part of her job. Her job total was only $565 and that included the $45 tip she left the 3 guys on her job. But as I stated she has already been refunded over half of her job without any evidence that our guys did anything. As I stated we reviewed the videos she sent us and reviewed them with the police when they came to our office.

     I am rejecting this response because:

    I was actually charged $610.25. I have been asking for the receipt from the original change for 2 weeks and have not received it at all. I spoke with the detective working the case and he said he is far from being done investigating the matter and is not ready to rule out the gentlemen who were in my home. I have been very polite and cooperative. I provided breakfast and lunch for the gentlemen while in my home. I even gave them things out of my home after they kept asking for stuff. I was told over a week ago they had started the process for a full refund and I would have it and the receipt by Monday, nothing came. I called and was again polite and understanding and was told they would check again the next day, I said ok thank you. Then I call again Wednesday after not hearing back on Tuesday as promised. I was then told they changed their minds and would only authorize a partial refund of $350, I said that’s not what we agreed but ok. I asked how long it would take to get the receipts and was told 30-40mins. I still heard nothing back. I began reaching out again this morning, now 2 weeks later and was understandably frustrated. I have been polite, cordial and understanding this entire time. I have been jerked around and lied to over and over. I was told by the manager himself this is not the first time they have had reports of stolen property and now I am being yelled at like I made a wild accusation. I purposefully moved the firearm out of their way when they entered the home and went to move it back after they left to find it missing. I searched the house high and low before making the accusation. I have not done this lightly in anyway. To be met with so much contradiction and hostility when I have been nothing short of patient is beyond unprofessional. All I have asked for is what we agreed upon from the beginning. And still to this very moment I have not received a single email or receipt.

    After speaking with the detective working this case he has informed me that no one from the company has been cooperative. The manager William J**** has been giving him the same run around he has been giving me. Promises to send emails, information on the gentleman who packed my home and camera footage from the truck. The detective has received none of it as promised. I just spoke with him and due to the lack of cooperation from the company and the fact there are several other reports filed about theft from them, they are escalating the investigation. So this is not a one time thing that is a misunderstanding. This has happened multiple times to multiple clients and it appears standard operating procedure is to give the run around until someone gives up. I will be more than happy to provide the case information as well as several other testimonials from past clients to back up proof of pattern.

    Officers came to our shop and we showed them employee files. We are just going off the footage that was given to us, it did not show our guys having anything. Just had them and the customer talking. We have refunded money to client like mentioned and we showed the officers what they asked for when they came to the shop they saw the employee files regarding the 3 people on the job.

    I am still shaking with anxiety from what I just experienced as the worst plight of customer service I’ve ever received. The worst part was actually from the management who the local team called because they want us to speak to him and just let him know all the things that have gone wrong. First the local team did arrive a couple hours later than the window but we were fine and we’re glad they got here to keep going. We had about 10 to 12 dressers and washing machine and dryer for them to take from the garage upstairs. When they got the washing machine in the home right in the foyer area, they dropped it and heavily scratched the floor multiple panels and heavily scratched the washing machine. There were two gentlemen and a team lead, but no direction was given. They had no dollies to bring the furniture up, nothing secured at all. They got stuck, trying to get the washing machine upstairs and couldn’t go any further and couldn’t do the job. They damaged, multiple dressers, multiple walls the upstairs carpet. They were nice people, just were not prepared and made major mistakes. They felt so bad about what happened. They wanted us to speak to their manager, Will, and explain what happened. The worst experience happened when he got on the phone with my husband and, he just asked Will about him being aware of the issue that took place because the team lead had texted pictures of the floor being damaged and he lies and says “oh I don’t know anything.” so then he references the floors being scratched and then Will proceeds to get loud and belligerent with my husband about the liability waiver and they’re not responsible and that’s legal document and then goes on and goes back-and-forth about him being a paralegal and marine and all of this when we were just trying to say hello and just say what happened. The team had well on speakerphone with all of them and my family present. Someone other than Will needs to contact me to resolve this.

    Happy to help with repairs to the flooring and so forth. We also have the move for free that day as well which was around $943. 
    please email or text floor to 843-459-3005 and we will reach out within next day or so. Our waiver and move agreement does state moves need to be paid fully before repairs. Or we can deduct the $943 from the bill of floor repair when that bill or estimate is given and we can go from there. We will be looking for texts.     We hired the moving services of College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving in Charleston, SC. The movers pointed out that they broke a glass curio cabinet before pulling away from the first location. After unloading, we found a dresser had also been damaged. They urged me to contact the company to file a claim which I did. I was told it takes 3-5 business days to hear something. After many calls and 12 days later, there has been no resolution or call back. There is no corporate number to be found online, only a call center. I've left several messages.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    I did not receive an email with copies of the documents signed on-site.  The complaint made was not about this, it is concerning the damage claim that was submitted on April 28th.  I have made several calls to check the status of this claim.  I was told it takes 3-5 business days.  Then another person said 5-7 business days.  Ten business days have passed and there has been no communication or resolution.  A very expensive curio cabinet was broken and self reported by your movers before they left the pick up location.  I have no further complaints about the charges.  After further review, those were correct.  My apologies.  However, the broken furniture and lack of response to the damage claim is my concern.

    I had College Hunks come and move my bigger things from my apartment to my new house on Saturday March 30th. They arrived 2.5 hours late with no communication letting me know that they were going to be late. I called twice asking when they would be there and no one had an answer for me and they never called to tell me they were on their way when I was told 3 times someone would call. I lost a whole day of moving because of their tardiness. When they arrived to my house they started carrying in my items one being a dresser. They pointed out damage that was made and let me know that they will take a picture of it and get it taken care of. Also, as they were carrying my things in the one movers kicked a piece of trim out of place walking into the bedroom because he was carrying more than he could handle, could not see where he was going, and was wearing flip flops. After they left, I noticed a small part that I need to build my bed frame is missing. It is a hook plate and without it, I cannot build my bed frame. I called the following Monday (Sunday was Easter) to call and ask about the missing piece and the file the claim for the damage. I was told someone would contact me within 3 to 5 business days. Wednesday comes(April 3) and I still have not heard anything so I go to the company to ask and nobody was there. I have called the local Charleston number numerous times between Monday and Wednesday and never got an answer. I called the corporates number and explained my frustrations and he said, if I do not hear anything by Monday April 8th then they will try and file an insurance claim. It is now Wednesday April 10 and I have not received one phone call from them. I paid them $513 for them to be late, damage, lose my things, and to never contact me again.

    We have responded to the client. She was originally missing a piece to her bed and this turned out to be in the room we were not allowed to go in because those items weren't being moved, so we solved this issue. Since then damages have come up that were not brought to our attention in the beginning. We are happy to work with the client to resolve this issue but the scratches can be fix but we will either have to pay for what a replacement would cost or for us to come get the item and have it repaired. On our paperwork the client sign off stating no damages had occurred so this is why we are confused but willing to help

    Summary of issues during my move job:
    1) Late arrival (1 hr 20 min after the appt window); 2) Damage to front door of starting location (dent and furniture abrasion against the door frame); 3) Damage to front door of final destination (furniture abrasion against the door frame); 4) Hole punched in ceiling 5) hole punched in bottom of sofa covering; 6) black soot (soiled) marks on top of sofa (made of ivory linen fabric) and black (soiled) marks on bed frame. I sent pictures of all damages to the company. An unidentified person sent me a vague reply text today, 02/23.

    Details of move job:
    On 2/5/24 I paid a $99 deposit via credit card to secure a moving job reservation with College Hunks Hauling and Junk. My appt date was 02/19/24 with an arrival window of 8:00am-10:00am. A few minutes shy of 10am, I called to confirm arrival time and was told the truck had experienced mechanical issues but that a team member would call me with an "ETA" (estimated time of arrival). After several calls to "Eleanor", with zero quality customer service, I connected to a different agent who managed to get a manager at the local branch on the phone. He ("Zachary") and I never connected. The 3 guys finally showed at 11:20am and the moving captain told me "this ain't supposed to be our job anyway, somebody called out". The move job then went downhill and super fast! In moving the sofa, the legs were left on, which created a dent in the front door on the way out; one of the guys stumbled down the stairs with my sofa, which landed on his foot; at the destination, the front door frame was scratched up; the sofa was hoisted in the air and shoved upwards, which poked a hole in my ceiling and the bottom of the sofa. Both the sofa and bed frames had black "soot" marks on them. The moving captain said he had no idea where the marks came from. He said the total job would be $539 (incl the $99 deposit) but my bank showed two separate charges totaling $638. I want a FULL REFUND of all charges!

    This response she is speaking of was our local branch asking her when we can come clean the furniture and fix the marks on the wall. We have all the pictures the client sent us and this is a very easy and simple fix to have someone do but she isn’t allowing this or hasn’t given us a date or time yet that works for them. We will not be refunding her entire move when the damages cost now more than 150-200 dollars for time and materials to have someone fix these items back to normal standards.
