Somehow Marketbeat decided I subscribed to their scammy service. I never did and I am not interested in the crap they are pushing. I have tried numerous times to unsubscribe and they still send me their junk. If they say I subscribed, they are lying. I wish you could do something to eliminate these clickbait propaganda sites.Business Response

I started receiving spam emails from this company despite never visiting their site or signing up to receive such emails. The content is often clickbait and heavily loaded with conspiratorial, exaggerated, misleading, and outrageous information. I receive as many as 13 emails per day from MarketBeat or MarketBeat Partners. This is an invasion of my personal information and it should be illegal to invade somebody’s privacy with so much unrelenting propaganda.Business Response

We apologize for your frustration.
MarketBeat has investigated your complaints, which revealed the following: (1) MarketBeat’s
internal records indicate that we electronically received a July 3, 2024
request for MarketBeat’s e-mails td to the e-mail address noted
in the complaint. These records would not be generated absent a subscription
request and MarketBeat does not unilaterally start sending email communications
to e-mail addresses. (2) MarketBeat received the e-mail address as part of
a co-registration relationship. Based on our research into the matter, this email
address subscribed to an e-mail list owned by a third party – an entity organized
in the State of Florida. MarketBeat does not receive further details regarding
the specific lists and/or websites these co-registration links are included on by
the third party. (3) MarketBeat confirms that this subscription request came
from an IP address that matches a location consistent with the disclosed area
code of the phone number provided. As was demonstrated with communications
previously, MarketBeat takes seriously requests from subscribers to be unsubscribed.
According to our records, there were no other customer service requests or
attempts by you as the subscriber to unsubscribe from the MarketBeat e-mails
prior to filing the BBB complaint. Upon receipt of the BBB compliant (filed on
Saturday, November 9, 2024), the e-mail address was removed from all
communications from MarketBeat effective Monday, November 11, 2024. The removal
was done as quickly as was commercially possible. In terms of consumer/subscriber
e-mail addresses MarketBeat possesses, the company does not share e-mail
addresses or other subscriber information unless specifically authorized by a
subscriber. If you have further questions or
concerns, we encourage you to reach out to us directly at **********************.Thank you,

I began receiving spam emails from ************** approximately one month ago. I had never visited their website or heard of this company prior to the emails starting. I have only been to their site once to figure out what type of company it is.
I now receive an average of 5 emails per day, with some alluding to my “account”, which I never created.
I went through the steps to unsubscribe this morning (8/25/2024). I want all of my personal information scrubbed from their site and to no longer receive any correspondence from this company. I would also like to know exactly how they acquired my information.Business Response

The company continually sends emails after unsubscribing many times. I also filled out the form to opt out of selling info and unsubscribing. I would like them to stop sending emails. It is in violation to keep sending them after unsubscribing.Business Response

I never signed up for this service and their newsletters, but I continually get email advertisements even after unsubscribing, which leads me to believe that they potentially purchased a list of emails and are utilizing them to bolster their subscriber number. I unsubscribe, and will be resubscribed without my knowledge a few weeks later.Business Response

I clicked the subscribe option by accident in the month of May 2024. I unsubscribed immediately, and I've been receiving about 3 emails per day almost every day. I even tried to block them, and I am somehow still getting emails. Even when you go on their website, it's very laggy and glitchy (****** indicates that it's a harmful website). I would like them to stop sending me emails as it's considered harassment at this point.Business Response

Much the same as what I read in existing complaints. I was researching some equities roughly a month ago. (No more time to invest looking date up.) and out of nowhere this MarketBeart Company starts spamming me with constant pop-ups to investment seminars; unknown email starts showing up. Usual specious junk. Some uncredentialled "advisor" jabbers on endlessly before the hammer falls. Apparently I have a subscription never signed up for. No card # so no bucks. I searched for 'Unsubscribe' and it is not available. (It is required to be). After wasting 30+ minutes, found a way to send a message and did so three days ago. Nothing has changed. Still harassed.
I noticed they are defended as being in compliance with some statute. This is not acceptable. Wondering who lobbied for that consumer poke in the eye! So, they can do this and all I can do is block all the spam email. Not sure how to stop pop-ups. Going ****** and Federal.Business Response

MarketBeat and its newsletters are 100% opt-in based and MarketBeat does not send any unsolicited email (commonly referred to as spam) to its subscribers. Can someone please explain to this company that I have requested several times over several years demanded to remove my information. I have complained in the past. I stay clear of their website! Can my private information be removed forever from their data base! I make the request they say they will remove and the next year here we go again! I got another email this morning about some nonsense about some 300 dollar credit. Odd because I have never had an account with them and I think I’ve filed with the bbb before but maybe I need the FTC. I do not ever give that company consent! Don’t call me don’t email me don’t use my information! I retract any and all fine print they may have to keep harassing me every year! I would never use a company that refuses to comply with my requests about myself.. please help me divorce from marketbeat. I will also contact the ftc and file a complaint with the va over harassment and my private information. Thank you for whatever you can do to make them go away- forever! PLEASE! My desired settlement is NO CONTACT ever again…Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.It is satisfactory up until next year when I have the same exact problem because this is not the 1st I think it is over 3 times I have requested removal.
At least this way BBB will have the information for next year when you contact me again because that is what your company does. I am still going to the FTC because your response seems as if I have never asked for my information to be removed before. Quite a racket you got going on there. Pretend to remove peoples information only to keep contacting them! And what for? I would NEVER use your company.

Date of Transaction is roughly mid January based on the start of emails from Marketbeat. This is not exact because I did not realize Marketbeat's extremely poor customer service would result in a formal complaint to the BBB and did not start a detailed history of interactions.
I did not pay Marketbeat anything. I signed up for a free 30 day trial subscription. If not cancelled, the charge would be $***. I cancelled within one hour approximately of signing up. A charge of $*** initially appeared on my credit card and then was credited back. I considered my interactions with Marketbeat to be over and done with. On February 17th, Marketbeat once again helped themselves to $*** from my credit card account they already had access to as it was required for the initial sign up even though I had cancelled my free 30 day trial in 1 hour.
Marketbeat was supposed to provide me with stock investment advice.
The nature of the dispute is I formally cancelled my subscription almost immediately after signing up by submitting a cancellation request directly to their website while logged on to my account I had just opened. After trying their site and realizing the 3 sites I already had subscribed to (*****, ******* *****, and ***********) were far superior, I cancelled and no longer accessed their site for any stock information whatsoever. I had only logged in thereafter in an attempt to cease the endless barrage of emails and spam mails that would not stop no matter how many times I tried to unsubscribe from all emails and contact from Marketbeat. I also logged on February 27, 2023 to submit a complaint in regard to the fraudulent charge of $*** to my credit card.
Marketbeat through its' lack of any adequate customer service whatsoever attempted to resolve the problem and failed. Support ticket #****** promised me a refund. I submittted an additional email as requested of *************************** to them and received no response back from Marketbeat.Business Response

Hi Michael,
I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. It looks like you disputed this charge on 3/3/2023. Since you disputed this charge we cannot do anything with it until the bank resolves it, or the cardholder withdraws it. If you withdraw the dispute please let us know so that we can refund you. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and if you have any further questions please reach out to us at **************************.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: I will never again trust a company like Marketbeat that baits a customer with a FREE 30 day trial BUT requires them to submit their credit card to take advantage of that FREE offer. This gives Marketbeat the opportunity to fraudulently charge an unsuspecting customer and leaving that customer to try to retrieve their unauthorized credit card charges of $*** in this case. There is NEVER a reason to require a customer to submit credit card information for a FREE trial offer and I will not fall victim to such a scheme ever again. Therefore, I will not take Marketbeat's suggestion to withdraw my credit card dispute. Marketbeat now has clearly twice as many opportunities to refund the unauthorized $*** charge they helped themselves too by simply issuing a refund to my credit card for the money they were certainly most willing and able to take fraudulently and had since claimed to "be more than happy to cancel and refund the payment" as stated in support ticket #******. Or they can let the BBB assist in the refund also.Additionally, I see Marketbeat failed to address my complaint regarding unsolicited emails and spam. It seems that after seeking investment advice from Marketbeat, the only thing a customer will need to do is seek a new credit card so Marketbeat will no longer have access to it and new email accounts too. Worst investment decision I ever made was trusting Marketbeat!!!
Sincerely,
Michael ******Business Response

Hi Michael,
Checking our payment processor, it is indicating that you disputed your subscription charge. Since this charge is currently in dispute, your subscription payment was removed from our account until the investigation into the charge by your bank is complete. This means we are unable to process a refund for you at this time. It looks like the dispute is still being reviewed by your bank. Unfortunately we aren't able to issue a refund while a dispute is in process. We are currently working with ****** customer service to see if we can move anything along for you. Again we apologize for the inconvenience and are working towards your refund.

I am rejecting this response because:Still haven't received any assistance having my emails unsubscribed from Marketbeat after being unsuccessful in my own attempts. Hasn't even been addressed yet in any of Marketbeat's responses.
An additional charge of $*** over the past weekend appeared and then disappeared on my credit card after one day. A credit now shows of $***. Hopefully, this will remain and this part will be solved.
