I was forced to give one star to get this review to post.
      Truthfully they deserve ZERO stars.
Do not send any loved ones to compasses hospice Toms River Burlington county unless you have a death wish for your loved one. Complete lack of compassion, and inadequate care given to the point where death was imminent. Stay far away.
My father suffered from septic shock as a result of their negligence. A picc line was left in for TEN MONTHS. After my father was admitted to the hospital outraged doctors told me the picc line should have NEVER been left in for more than two months at most.
This was just one indication of their negligence. Those responsible are still working for Compassus Toms River.
These people have no place in health care. From the invisible doctor who was supposed to be monitoring my father’s case to some very incompetent nurses, a case manager and a social worker…my father was failed on every level.
Do not believe anything they tell you! Be your own health advocate and never back down. Do not be afraid to speak your mind, ask questions and demand better if you have your family member with them.
If contemplating sending a loved one to them, DO NOT DO IT.
This will be investigated and pursued.

Memphis, TN location: They really don't deserve the one star I selected but I think I had to select at least 1 for ratings. It was a very bad experience dealing with them. I'm the granddaughter of the patient and prior to my grandmother being on hospice I helped with her care. She has 5 living children. 1 daughter and the others are sons. All the sons were against the daughter and wanted to assume my grandmother's care. They said that they could do better. About 2 weeks of them assuming care they placed her on hospice and didn't tell anyone. I found out when I called the home health agency because I had been the person on file that they could speak with and they informed me she was no longer in their care. She informed me she was in the care of Compassus hospice. Her daughter had a general POA and she was never notified of the decision to place her on hospice. The daughter tried to call the social worker many times with no return phone calls. She called the administrator and was told she could not speak to my mom. She was informed not to by the social worker. Yes there was known family drama, all the daughter wanted was to get updates and no one would speak with her. I thought the healthcare workers were supposed to be neutral. The sons would not let certain grandchildren and the daughter come to the house to visit nor see her. Today she passed away. The sons didn't have any legal paperwork but the daughter had a general POA. In these situations a medical POA is better but without that both the sons and daughter should have equally had the right to be involved in her care. This situation is so devastating. There is so much more to this story. Questionable about why she was even placed in hospice(Diagnoses) when she was just in rehab/skilled nursing for therapy prior to them caring for her. Please don't use Compassus hospice.

I advise anyone needing end of life terminal help to read up on the different hospice agencies. This hospice agency is not at all a acceptable agency. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma a non-curable cancer!! So my primary care physician advised me palliative care to help with my daily living, medical equipment, emotional support, and medication needs I would require through chemotherapy, radiation, and stem cell transplant. I had five visits from a nurse out of 15 months due to employee shortage. Then I have a televisit with a new nurse practitioner the gentlemen was from Nigeria barely could speak English or understand it. Through the televisit he repeatedly repeated questions and I repeatedly repeated replies. When I picked up medicine it was wrong on the July 14th, I tried reaching him, director, and any staff that could help me 4-5 times a day up to July 25th, then I was told I was being discharged from the program a person can only be on palliative care for one year!!! This agency gave me no notice, no assistance to find another agency, no help of any kind. I ask was the doctor going to issue me correct script for my monthly medicine to cover me until I found another agency and I received not one response from any staff!!! This agency left me high and dry sick, nausea, fatigue, and in severe pain bed ridden without warning!!! This is just a terrible agency for the terminally ill patient!! So again, I advice patient, friends, and family to read reviews, post, and inquire about hospice agencies before making a decision on picking one!!! I had to give one star for a post, if not for that this agency would have got no star!!!

Five weeks after my mother passed away I went to pick up her death certificate and I have never been so shocked. Her cause of death was totally WRONG! I contacted the office and spoke to a clinical director who insisted that my mother’s cause of death was correct. They insisted that my mother met all the requirements of this disease. For the first 3 weeks I was in a fight with them to even consider that their cause of her death was not correct.
In the process of defending my mother’s honor and name with a correct death certificate, I went through the legal process to obtain all of her records. Much to my surprise, I discovered that the company had been using MY social security number on all of my mother’s records. I have asked numerous times where they got my number and still to this day have not received an answer. I asked for this information in the event that somewhere down the road this HUGE mistake causes any issues for me. Their standard operating procedure is to just not reply.
Not only did I discover this HUGE mistake, I also finally found out how she was "Diagnosed" with something for which she was never seen by a physician or mid-level provider. I discovered that her primary diagnosis was changed 10 days after her latest home health visit at 1:12 am by a medical coder preparing a bill! NO ONE FROM THIS COMPANY EVER MENTIONED THIS TO ANYONE !!!! She was accepted under the wrong "Diagnosis", but her family still had no idea. I question the care she would have/could have received because she did NOT have this disease. I believe the staff were more concerned about any exposure they would have from their error than anything else. They finally did make 2 corrections, but the cause of her death is still not correct!
This should be written down in a "How NOT to treat your customers" handbook. There is an ethics pledge on their website about the “Right Thing”, I can tell you that it is ALL TALK! My mother, their patient, was just a number.

Compassus is the very best! All equipment was delivered immediately. When Mom’s condition continued to deteriorate and I needed different bed rails they were supportive and new ones installed. The nurses, assistants, social worker, and chaplain have been absolute lifesavers to my mother and myself! I cannot thank them enough! The office staff have called regularly to make sure everything is to my satisfaction! I would definitely recommend this group of professionals!!!!
