My vehicle has ***** miles on it. The tires were shaking horribly so I took it to an authorized Hankook dealer. They verified the tires were coming apart and took videos. Hankook will not allow me to file a claim so the tire company did. In order to file a claim, I was forced to come out of pocket and buy new tires while they decide if their warranty will cover the issue. ts been a month and the tires have not been picked up for inspection. Hankook will not speak to me and say I have to go through the tire shop. The tire shop says they are waiting on Hankook. At the end of the day I had to spend $2000 on more tires and cannot get the manufacturer to honor the products failure in any way.Customer Answer

The tires came on my vehixle when it was purchased brand new. I have a reference number of fe644333 that Hankook assigned to me when we started. Here is the warranty: https://www.hankooktire.com/us/en/help-support/warranty/tire-warranty.htmlBusiness Response

To whom it may concern,
No customer is able to file their own claim. All tire warranty claims must be submitted by an Authorized Hankook retailer. The retailer would not be waiting on Hankook to make a decision as they must first send the tires to their tire distributor which is what we were told the last time the retailer reached out. The customer will need to work with the retailer to move forward.

I am rejecting this response because:the retailer has already spoken with Hankook several times who verified they would be arranging to have the tires picked up. At a minimum, I would expect Hankook to have a little human compassion realizing someone who has their product was forced to purchase new tires in order to continue driving their vehicle, and step up to help get this remedied. This is not acceptable because I am begging for assistance which is being denied. It is a Hankook faulty product - o am asking for you to help make this right and keep a customer rather than leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Faults happen but it’s how they are remedies that mean the most!

To whom it may concern,
We spoke to Harold at Tire Choice today who stated they have not been able to get ahold of their tire distributor to file the claim on your behalf. We instructed him again to reach out to them to move forward to submit the tires under warranty on your behalf. Harold stated you may reach out to him with further questions as we do not have a way to move forward until Tire Choice submits the claim to their distributor.

Was told my car with ***** miles needed new tires. Hankook says they do not offer warranty on original tires. Even though the tire has a ****** mile warrantyBusiness Response
Date: 05/21/2025
To whom it may concern,
We regret that the Hankook tires installed on the complainant's vehicle did not meet expectations. There are many factors that contribute to tire wear, and there is no hard and fast rule to measure the service life of a tire. Tires are made with various types of raw materials and a variety of rubber compounds all having varying performance properties. Once a tire is designed and manufactured to achieve given performance properties and put into use, it is subjected to further varying conditions such as weather, storage, load, speed, inflation pressure, maintenance practices, road conditions, driver inputs, and much more. Since all these factors affect the service life of a tire, it is just not possible to predict with accuracy or scientific validity the service life of a tire. While one may be drawn to look to the tire's construction as the sole contributor to the rate of tire wear, the earlier mentioned factors, and more, are direct contributors to how a tire will wear. It is important to note that the tires equipped as Original Equipment tires (OE Tires- tires installed during new vehicle assembly) on the new vehicles do carry a Limited Manufacturer's Warranty against manufacturing errors. However, they do not carry a Mileage Warranty, which would cover mileage/wear. Therefore, the complainant is not entitled to any warranty consideration for this tire condition at ****** miles, or any mileage.

I am rejecting this response because how does Hankook know this is not a manufacturing error? One would think a ****** mile warranty in a tire would obviously have something wrong with it if they are needing replaced with ****** miles on them. With that being said everytime I have an oil change the tires have been rotated.
Sincerely,
****** *******Business Response
Date: 05/23/2025
To whom it may concern,
Treadwear is not considered a manufacturing error. It is simply treadwear which is a warranty the Original Equipment tires do not carry. If you believe your tires to have a warrantable condition, the dealership can do an inspection on the tires to make that determination as they would be the ones to submit the tires under warranty on your behalf.
Thank you!

Dear BBB Team,I am writing to file a complaint against Hankook Tire regarding a warranty issue with one of their products. I currently own a 2021 ***** CR-V (VIN: *****************), which came equipped with Hankook Energy GT tires. Due to manufacturing defects, one of the tires has become unsafe to drive. The tires are within 4 years of purchase but have a 6-year warranty.I contacted Hankook Tire's warranty support department to request a warranty claim evaluation and a replacement for the affected tire. Despite following all necessary maintenance and usage guidelines, including regular tire rotation and avoiding misuse or road hazards, Hankook has not provided a satisfactory resolution. The tires are still within the 6-year warranty period from the date of purchase, and the issue appears to be due to manufacturing defects, which should be covered under the Limited Manufacturer's Warranty. I have not violated any terms of the warranty, and I expect the defects to be addressed under the warranty coverage.I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter and ensuring that Hankook Tire honors their warranty commitments. Please let me know if you require any additional information or documentation to process this complaint.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely, ******* *****Business Response

To whom it may concern,
The customer contacted **********************'s warranty department email. It was explained to the customer that he must return to the dealership for them to do an inspection on the tires. If the dealership determines the tires to have a warrantable condition, they will submit the tires under warranty and assist the customer with getting new ********************** as no consumer can file their own claim. As the dealership would use a tire distributor, we cannot expedite the process as the dealership must work with their distributor to move forward if a warrantable condition is found. We ask that the dealership contact our warranty support department with any questions so we may assist.
Thank you!

I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for your response, but I would like to reiterate and clarify a few important points.
I have already visited the dealership multiple times and clearly explained the tire issue. Despite these repeated visits, the dealership has not taken any meaningful action to inspect or escalate the issue. In fact, I was told to contact Hankook directly which I did and provided all the required details on my end. Unfortunately, no follow-up was made from Hankook to the dealership.Given this breakdown in communication and my negative experience with the dealership, I strongly urge Hankook to take ownership of the situation and reach out directly to the dealer to obtain inspection details and move this claim forward. As a customer, I have fulfilled my responsibility and am now stuck in a loop between the manufacturer and a dealership that is unwilling to cooperate.
This issue has caused significant inconvenience, to the point that I had to rent a car for my safety as I do not feel comfortable driving with the current tires.
I respectfully request that Hankook expedite this matter by initiating direct contact with the dealership and facilitating the inspection and warranty process without further delay.Thank you for your understanding and prompt action.

I spoke with ****** at *** ***** ****** You will need to call the dealership to schedule a time for them to do an inspection on your tires as they stated they have not seen your vehicle since 10/25/2024 at ****** miles. Once the inspection is complete, *** ***** ***** will contact me with a reference number that was provided to them so they can give me all the inspection details so we can discuss if your tires have a warrantable condition. Please be advised that if the only issue they find with the tires is the treadwear, that is not covered under the 6 ************ Warranty.

I am rejecting this response because:I did visit Discount Tire, as advised, and they confirmed a warrantable condition with the Hankook tire. They offered a $387 reduction, and I have attached the invoice they provided as proof. While I appreciate that step, traveling 50 miles to Discount Tire is highly inconvenient for me.
Due to this, I will be replacing the tire at a closer store and am requesting that Hankook either:
Replace the tire through a local vendor, or
Reimburse me $600, which reflects the cost I will incur for a replacement from a nearby location.
I am requesting this be resolved as soon as possible. The delay has already resulted in me paying ongoing rental fees for transportation. I believe I have fulfilled all responsibilities on my end, and I am simply seeking a fair and timely resolution.

To whom it may concern,
In order to obtain the warranty savings offered at Discount Tire, you would need to return to them, since the savings they offered are based on their own findings.
If you choose to obtain replacement tires at the alternative shop closer to you, they will also have to inspect the tires for warranty eligibility.
As you can fathom, tire and automotive shops do not often take diagnostic/inspection findings from other facilities, as they want to verify the eligibility for themselves to ensure reimbursement to their balance sheet.
If the alternative shops inspection finds them to be warrantable, then they too will offer you the applicable warranty savings.
Hankook does not engage in warranty claims directly with the end users of our products.
All warranty proceedings and reimbursements are handled by retail facilities that also sell our products.Initial Complaint

I was sold a set of 4 Hankook New Englander all-weather tires that are supposed to be covered by a 30k (no-maintenance) and a 60k (full maintenance) warranty and spent over $1100 on these tires in late August 2023. These tires have less than ****** miles on them and they are so worn that the service technicians refused to rotate them at my last oil change. They are refusing to honor the warranty because of a missed tire rotation at ***** miles (which is NOT included in my original invoice and receipt for purchase). I will never buy their tires again and KNEW I was making a mistake by not waiting for Michelins to be in stock. ******** manufacturer, horrible and unsafe product, deplorable customer service practices.Business Response

All tire warranty claims must be submitted by an Authorized Hankook Dealer as consumers do not have a way to file a warranty claim themself. On June 17th of 2023, I purchased 4 new ************* Tires for my ***** Ridgeline from ************** in ******************. The tires were replaced immediately, after it was determined they were out of round. The new set of tires were fine for some time, but by the beginning of this summer, the same issue with the tires had returned. I went to my local ***** mechanic again, and he rotated and balanced them, but the issue remained. Finally, in this month, I went back to ************** and informed them of the issue. They said they had already warrantied out the tires, call Hankook to see if they can resolve this. When I called, the lady I spoke too said the warranty had expired after a year for the issue I had. I was never informed of a year warranty, only that I had a ****** mile warranty. She kept saying that there was nothing they can do. I now have a set of tires that make my steering wheel shake when I drive because they are out of balance, and a multi million dollar corporation will not refund my money to buy a different tire. I also called Tire Warehouse back and they had never heard of the one year warranty on "Ride Disturbance".Business Response

To Whom It May Concern,
Hankook offers a 1-year Ride Disturbance Policy which is listed on our website for easy access for all of our consumers. With the tires being purchased over one year ago, the tires are no longer eligible for this warranty.

I am rejecting this response because:Dear Hankook,
Thank you for your response regarding the Hankook tires installed on my 2016 ******** While I appreciate the detailed explanation of the various factors that can contribute to tire wear, I am extremely dissatisfied with the performance of these tires.
Despite following all recommended maintenance practices, including regular rotations and proper inflation, the tires have worn out prematurely and have failed to meet even the most basic expectations of durability and reliability. This has not only caused significant inconvenience and expense but has also completely eroded my confidence in the quality of Hankook products.
Over the years, I have used tires from various manufacturers, and never have I encountered such poor performance as with Hankook. The premature wear of these tires is unacceptable, and the explanation provided does little to address the fundamental issue of their substandard quality. Your response comes across as a deflection of responsibility rather than a solution to the problem at hand.
I find the offer of a prorated credit towards miles that were not received for the treadwear warranty to be wholly inadequate and insulting. It does not compensate for the frustration and inconvenience I have experienced, nor does it restore my trust in your brand. The suggestion that I must prove regular rotations and specific wear patterns to qualify for this credit adds insult to injury. For your information, I routinely rotate and balance my tires every ***** miles.
Due to this extremely disappointing experience, I will never purchase Hankook tires again, nor will I recommend them to anyone. I expect higher standards from a tire manufacturer, and Hankook has clearly failed to meet those standards.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
