I got stuck with this awful bank for my vehicle loan back in March. I usually pay my loan a day or 2 early just to be safe, but they take the cake. When I submit the payment I get an emailed receipt.... it has been 8-10+ days before I would get it taken from my account and applied to it. Then in May, they threatened to put my account into collections 2 days after my payment was made. Santander confirmed this for me the next business day. **** was rough, I paid a day early and it never came out of my bank. I called the bank, waited on hold to speak to someone for over 2 hours. I called my dealership and they told me that I should set them up in bill pay to force pay them through my personal bank. It didn't work. They tried 4 times to pay it and they said that the payment wasn't sufficient, but it was the exact amount. I called them yesterday, 7/8/25, and they have no information on my location, my vehicle VIN, color, year, or anything that they should need. I also got my payment stuff fixed and they wont let me do auto pay or use my bank anymore, so I have to use my debit card for that same account and pay the 3.80 for it... This morning, 7/9/25 I was sent an encrypted letter from them that I had to make an account to open for security reasons(yes it is real I scanned the document for viruses), they are repossessing my vehicle with no missed payments, because I spoke yesterday about also them marking I never paid on my credit report. In the letter it also mentioned that I FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY! I did NOT do this at all! This is by far THE WORST BANK I have EVER worked with for a vehicle loan. DO NOT USE THEM! RUN FROM THEIR NAME! REFUSE A LOAN FROM THEM! They do not deserve 1 star at all.

This is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I sent a check to be endorsed, and they signed for it and it has been 2 days and keep telling me it is not "process" or they haven't received it. under urgent matters and such, they do not care for you or your situation. it is extremely poor with service and "customer service" have no idea what is going on most of the time... def 0.5 out of 5..

Where do I start if I could give 0 stars I would. Today I spoke with ****** ****** who claimed to be a supervisor regarding my overpayment made 6/27/25 and outside of his condescending attitude and tone told me that the previous two representatives I spoke with provided me with inaccurate information regarding my refund. I asked ****** why my refund could not be sent to me in the same payment method they received it. His response was that is not our company policy and when asked if that information could be provided to me in writing he said, "No, because we don't have it in writing, it's an internal policy". I told him that made absolutely no sense at all not to be able to provide ********s with documentation on the company overpayment and refunded distribution process. He also stated that I should worry about the method in which I receive my refund just worry about that I'm getting it. I asked to speak with someone above him only to be told it wasn't anyone before transferring me to their "corporate office". I then spoke with ***** ****** who claimed to work for this company for 18 years but knew nothing about whether their website provided ********s with insight on refunds under FAQ, which it doesn't by the way. Nonetheless she too was very unhelpful and had no problem stating that I wasn't the first ******** with the same concern regarding refunds. She also reiterated they don't have a policy to provide to ******** and they're not legally responsible to make ********s aware of this internal policy. As a ******** I am beyond flabbergasted and appalled that these people think it's ok not to provide ********s with basic knowledge on how their refund process goes. They have 3 pages of FAQ regarding payment and not one touches on this topic. They're probably holding ********s' money for ***** because they're more than likely getting interest off it. I would never do business with this company and they need to be investigated.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience dealing with Santander Consumer USA. Despite having an extension agreement in place, they repossessed my vehicle without honoring the arrangement. This action was unjustified and deeply distressing, especially considering the repeated efforts I made to stay in communication and resolve the situation.Over the course of several months, I called multiple times to update my contact information, yet they never corrected it in their system. As a result, both mine and my husbands numbers somehow ended up on a "Do Not Call" list, even though we were actively trying to communicate. They claim they left voicemails and sent emails/mailbut these were sent to incorrect or outdated contact details, which they failed to update despite my calls.I spoke with at least six different representatives, all in supposedly "higher" departments, and every one of them told me something different. I was misled, dismissed, and blatantly lied to. Each conversation led to more confusion, and ultimately no resolution. Despite never applying some of my on-time payments, and providing no valid explanation for late fees, they have now deemed their actions validbased on a letter mailed to the wrong address and our logins to their app (which hardly counts as formal notice).Even more disturbing is how their staff speak to customers. I was repeatedly spoken to in a condescending and disrespectful manner, as if this entire situation was my fault. I was not allowed to submit proof that might have resolved the issue and was told flatly that the case was closed.Mistakes happenwe're all humanbut what matters is how they are addressed and resolved. Unfortunately, Santander Consumer USA has shown zero accountability, lack of professionalism, and disregard for customer service. I hope others will take caution when dealing with this company, and I urge BBB to take this complaint seriously.

Previous customer that paid off full loan in 05/24. Late payments on credit report. Never notified or any additional amount due. When logging into the online account, it shows $0.00 due. I never received any notification regarding the late fee. This has significantly crashed my credit score and they refuse to submit anything to Credit Bureaus to have late payments removed. All payments were always submitted on time and balance paid in full early.

ZERO STAR - ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICES.High level complaint summary:1. Note and Security Agreement: Santander personnel hand-crossed out corrections to vehicle Year, Make, Model and missed a digit of the *** recorded. Therefore the document stating "Paid in Full" is not enforceable or traceable to my vehicle.2. Lien Release: Santander did not send title or notify *** after payoff of loan, instead referred me to their third party company (*****************) to order title for additional $17 fee with minimum shipping fee of $30. They do NOT provide an email receipt to prove/reference later.3. Calling: I called Santander via two different numbers to discuss obtaining my car title and both automated operators hung up on me saying they can't help. I tried bypassing automated operator by pressing 0 in both menus but this doesn't do anything.

I refinanced my vehicle back in July 2021 when I purchased my new home. As of January 2025 I paid my car off in full and was told DMV will send the title when everything is finalized. Here we are in June almost July of 2025 and when I reached out to DMV I had to play the guessing game on addresses of where my title was sent to. It’s an my ex’s address AND they put my car title in his name AND my name. He was no longer attached to my vehicle in any way after I refinanced and got him off the original loan. Now they are telling me I have to reach out to DMV for a name and title change. I’m absolutely appalled at the lack of proper communication as well as the messy paper handling they are responsible for. I would highly recommend staying far away from any financial products that Santander offers. Very unprofessional and an extra headache for me. I have two family members dying in the hospital and a disabled son I care for. I don’t need this right now.

I've made only 2 payments and this by far has been the worst company ever! I had never heard of Santander nor did I apply with them for my refinance. I took an offer from Credit Karma, through ************. ************ approved me and immediately sent an email that my loan is being serviced by Santander. They literally just rolled all my info from my original car payment to my new account. I should've paid better attention, because it was set up to my savings, not checking. I got a text that my 1st payment had declined, in a panic I checked everything out, discovered the issue and made the payment. I also immediately updated my auto-pay info. Sunday I get a text that my payment declined, there was ZERO possibility on my end that the payment did not clear. I called my bank 1st, no payment had been presented for payment. I called Santander, they tell me because your 1st payment declined, you are not eligible for to use auto-pay. I have l9oked through every single email they have sent and there is NOTHING stating this. I asked why I was able to set up autopay if I couldn't use it, customer service Lacrita had no answer for that. I also asked her how I was supposed to know fhaf, again she answered with I don't know. So, now according to Lacrita, I have to make 8 payments using a debit card that costs a fee to use and I was charged $15 for a payment that "declined" because I wasn't eligible to use that service! Before I can set up auto-pay again, wven though the option is available on their website. I will be refinancing the minute I am able to. Do NOT go through ************ or Santander for any financial assistance! I am going to speak to an attorney to see if this is even legal! Avoid Santander at ALL costs!

I received a auto loan from Santander. Never missed a payment, and was able to pay off my loan early. They provided the worst customer service I have ever received. From being overcharged on the interest during the life of the loan. And after the car was paid off. The gap insurance refund was held by them for over a month. Before I even knew why I had not received my refund. It took7 calls to customer service. If you want to be lied too and cheated out of your money get a loan with Santander. But I would tell you to run as far away from this company as possible
