cls Barbri paralegal is a scam. The close doesn't provide the correct guidance and take your money and set students up for failure. I requested help many times in which I would receive a basic email appear to be written by a robot and no help was provided. The school charged me ******* approximately out of false pretenses. Requesting refund.Initial Complaint

I must express my profound disappointment in having to compose this message. Regrettably, it has become a necessity due to the arrogant and inhumane behavior exhibited by one of your employees, specifically ***** from the ******** Service Supervisor Department.Last year, I was assured by one of the course managers that I could extend my deferral period beyond the standard 12 months. This concession was made due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding my health, which left me uncertain about when I would be fit enough to resume the course. I was provided with this assurance in light of the medical evidence I had attached to my request. Now, after considerable time has passed and I have finally regained my health, I initiated the process to defer my course once more. Initially, the first representative I corresponded with confirmed that my registration would be completed, albeit with some delay. However, to my dismay, when I followed up with a different representative, they flatly refused to honor this commitment. In essence, I have been deceived on two separate occasions, with complete disregard for my health condition and the assurances given to me last year.I write this email both as a formal complaint and an urgent plea for assistance. I implore someone within your organization to uphold the commitment to my deferral so that I can continue my preparations without further hindrance. Failure to resolve this matter to my satisfaction may compel me to exercise my right to lodge a formal complaint with the relevant governmental institutions responsible for protecting consumer rights.I earnestly hope that a prompt and equitable resolution can be achieved, sparing both parties the inconvenience and scrutiny that further escalation may entail.Sincerely,Initial Complaint

I just discovered BARBRI's fraudulent non-disclosure of hidden costs today, and the reason I did not have access to the Winter 2020 course I was registered for. I wasn't able to access the course because according to them I still owed $638, with the rest of the $4,000 being funded from my tuition money. I sent numerous emails to BARBRI and my Director of Bar Prep, *************************. The problem lies with not being able to pay for the Winter 2020 course, and thus have any access, to the Winter 2020 course. The result? I LOST the roughly $3500 spend from my tuition money FOR A COURSE I COULD NOT EVEN ACCESS! I discovered BARBRI's fraud, when I asked, and was told about the outstanding balance. Do these people have the common courtesy to even apply the tuition money to even access the course again?I lost 2 years of my life to self-study before I discovered this fraud! These people need to be held accountable!Initial Complaint

I enrolled in the Legal Nurse Program and started taking the courses I paid for an extension in April and/or May 2023 and I started session five last week and when I called I was told that I have to pay another extension as well as to continue to pay the monthly fee for the financial organization. The course is supposedly a flex course but evidentially it is flex for the organization and not the student..Initial Complaint

In 2021, during Covid, I looked into taking the CA bar exam. I reached out to BARBRI Extended **** Bar Prep online course, I had multiple conversations emails with the sales agent ***************** (all documented) asking about the program and if (under my circumstances) if I was even eligible to take the bar. **** confirmed I was eligible and told me to sign up. I still had reservations because some of the requirements were confusing. ***************** assured me I was eligible and I should sign up and if there were any issues Barbri would assist me with my eligibility. So I signed up for the class $5,999.00. I filled out various forms with the *** and it turned out I needed to comply the **** test before I was eligible. The test is held twice a year and costs over $800. So I took it twice and was unable to pass it thus making me completely illegible to take the CA bar exam thus making the bar prep course useless. I contacted Barbri and they refused to refund my money. I paid $5,999.00 and I cannot even use the course.Initial Complaint

Registered for the ** Bar Review Course for Winter 2022 with Barbri for $2883.75. This included books and online course. In January 2022, I informed Barbri that I was not taking the February 2022 bar exam anymore and what should I do regarding my Barbri course registration. A Barbri employee told me to return the books by a certain date and let them know the bar exam I would be taking. Per Barbri's instructions, I mailed the books back and I have the shipping confirmation. I spoke with Barbri again a few days after the books were delivered back to Barbri in January 2022 and was informed that I did not have to send the books back after all. I told them the books were already confirmed delivered to the address Barbri provided me and can Barbri ship the books back to me. I was told no they could not return the books but they could ship me new books once I signed up for the course. I called Barbri on March 21, 2023 to inform them of my intent to take the July 2023 bar exam and status of my books and was informed they cannot return the books and I would have to pay an additional $700+ for a course to get the books. I told them to just ship me back the old books and they said those books have been destroyed and I need to pay the $700+ for new course with books. I was also told that I cannot get the deferred (free) course I was promised in 2022 because a year had lapsed. I was not informed of any deadlines during any telephone call in 2022 and no emails were sent to me about some arbitrary deadline. None of this information is on the Barbri website. I want my deferred course and Barbri books or just the 2021-2022 books I already paid for and was duped into returning by a Barbri employee just so they can charge me for another course. This is a scam, unfair business practice and fraudulent.Initial Complaint

The barbri experience this time around is not a good experience at all. I have been made promises by supervisors that have not been kept. I have been told on numerous occasions that I will receive my books by certain days and have yet to receive my books and can not be provided a tracking number. I have been that I would be issues shipping fees and have not received such refunds. I need assistance with receiving my books. I have not experienced this level of unprofessionalism with all of my years using BarBri for different exam and materials. I was told for two months the system was down and I could not update any of my records but not were taken and I will be notified once so. The email never was sent and I had to talk to two different individuals and a manager to get assistance and still have not been helped. I am already stressed studying for the bar and this experience is bringing upon more stress.Initial Complaint

Barbri extracts huge profits from unsuspecting customers. They charge exorbitant fees for little value provided. Yet, they find ways to falsify, cheat, and profiteer to take just that additional few hundred dollars for no value, hoping that the friction and hassles will cause their cheated customers to go away. This must stop. Barbri has failed to return to me the deposit I paid promptly for books which I returned promptly. They claimed "processing time," they claimed they issued my refund, they demanded proof of their receipt of my books, which I provided, they claimed ignorance of the payment type to issue the refund, and now they have claimed for several weeks that their "system" is down, or under repair, or otherwise preventing the refund via MasterCard. This is not just unbelievable, it is unacceptable. These practices and other unethical practices should be reported to the state bars regulation counsel, to the law schools that partner and provide free resources and marketing to this shady company, and to the attorney's general economic enforcement unit, and should be reviewed by a good class action firm. I want my money. Its mine. This is a bad company who must think it is immune from civil and criminal penalty. I think there should be an awakening before the company goes bust with the ridiculous charade that is bar examination. Well-deserved, I say, but not before disgorgement of the chunk of change it is no doubt enjoying on the backs of students who are pressed to pay the ridiculous price to begin with.Initial Complaint

Barbri has a guarantee for being able to take the course again if the bar is not passed. They offered this guarantee but said it expired when I didn't take the course this summer.
