I noticed a charge of $89.95 on my account. When I didn't recognize the charge I looked up what it may be to figure it out. I am not familiar at all with this company. And when I read other reviews on BBB, I decided to check to see if they have charged me before, and I noticed they also charged me this time last year. That's $180!! Unacceptable.Business Response

I never signed up for your active network membership, I bought a ticket for tough mudder on 7/23/2021. On 8/22 you charged me 89.95 for a membership that I never agreed to. Today on 8/24/22 I see another charge of 89.95. This is complete nonsense and I want this supposed membership that I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR cancelled and I want my money back immediately. I signed up for a Blacklight Slide event back in 2018. I was not aware that I would be automatically signed up for an Active Network yearly membership. I have been charged $89.95 every year for five years ($449.75 total). I saw the charge this month and filed fraud on my debit card with my bank, unaware that I have been continuously charged by this company for five years. I thought the emails I was receiving were spam emails since I never signed up on their website, so I had ignored and deleted them. I read Active's ENTIRE privacy policy and terms of use. I re-read my agreement/waiver for the event I attended five years ago. Nothing was mentioned about automatically being enrolled in a yearly Active Network membership. I never gave this company my debit card or bank information. Their company's support number said to call another number for any credit card charge questions. I called the number that the recording gave me. That new number had a recording stating that they are short staffed and are not able to take phone calls. It said to email customer support with any questions. I am still awaiting a response from them.
I want to be refunded my entire $449.75 AND have my membership cancelled. It's impossible to cancel a membership through your account settings on the website. I didn't even know I had an account. I had to reset the password ** order to access this account.Business Response

Active Network, LLC fraudulantly charged me $89.95 for a membership that I did not agree to. All I did was sign up for a $13 dollar charity run in Atlantic City for sick children. This company is abhorrent and preying on people. I have tried to contact them but all they provide is an email which they have yet to respond to and will not take calls conveniently still blaming it on COVID this late in the game. I am in the process of contacting my credit card company and reporting them to the BBB and any applicable goverment agencies. Avoid this company and any of its affiliates at any and all costs. It is disgusting that they conduct these practices, let alone on people trying to do good.Business Response

I signed up my child for a fall camp that used the Active platform for enrollment. We have previously signed our child up for camps over the past 2 years using the Active platform without problem. This time was different.
A few days ago I received an email about the end of a free-trial membership for Active, which I had never signed up for. I am not interested in the membership and have no need for any of the services it provides. I tried following the links in the email to contact the business, but they were faulty.
Today (Aug 9, 2022), a charge for $89.95 posted to my credit card account that I had used to pay for the camp. I am so furious that this business can trick people into a annual membership, especially when I take great care to avoid signing up for just this sort of thing.
I am requesting a full refund from the company as of today, 8/9/22, but anticipate that I will need help to get it back given how duplicitous their practices are. I will also be passing this experience on to the local camp organization that used Active for its enrollment so that they can change their billing arrangements.Business Response

I sent a cancellation request (see below) to activenetworks, but they did not cancel my $0 trial, and charged me $89.95 for a full year membership instead.

Active is so shady as you can read from the many others who have the same complaint I do. I signed up for a 5K one month ago, not consenting to a yearly membership. Suddenly, one month later I notice an extra $89.95 charged to my credit card. I have tried calling, texting, and emailing and no response from them yet. They may claim they are not trying to hide anything but, clearly, they are not promoting this "membership sign up" very well when you sign up for ONE RACE. I signed up for the race with 2 other friends of mine and they were all charged as well after NOT knowing they signed up for a membership.
