Signed my son up for soccer camp with a local university. They used the "active" platform to sign up for soccer camps. Signed up and paid for the camp.. One month later I see a charge on my bank statement saying ACT AADV ***** End Trial. Active automatically signed me up for a membership for $99.95 monthly. (At no point was there a box to check or uncheck for a membership). The only way to ****** membership AND request refund is by email! Even when you call the given phone number the message says to email. What a ridiculous scam. I am furious. I had to cancel my debit card and dispute with the bank. All for a little soccer camp for my kid!Business Response

I received a charge of $99.95 on my account from this business. I googled them because I didnt know what service they even provide. I called to ask questions, received an automatic reply to call a different number. When I called that number it directed me to send an email. I sent an email without response. I called back to the original number and selected business customer service just to try to get someone on the phone. They said they cant tell me when I signed up or what service they could provide for me. Im in the process of canceling my debit card so they cant do this to me again, but this business is an absolute criminal fraudulent scheme. I dont know how they got my information. They took my money without my knowledge or consent, and provided no service.Business Response

I have no knowledge of this recurring charge and its been going on for over 6 months now. I missed the first 2 charges and I've been trying to find a phone number to contact for a cancellation for the last 4 months and I cant find anything online on how to contact them. In May 2023, I registered my daughter for a summer camp through Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball. Their registration required creating an account on a website hosted by Active Network. I used my debit card to pay for the camp only. At no point was I told I was being signed up for an ActiveAdvantage membership or free trial.Since then, Active Network has charged me:$89.95 in 2023 $99.95 in 2024 $99.95 in 2025 Total: $289.85 These charges appeared as ACTAADV ***** RENEW CARD#5**. I never authorized an annual membership, and worse, my debit card was replaced after the 2023 purchase. Somehow, they continued charging my new card number which I never gave them suggesting unauthorized use of a card updater service. I only discovered these charges recently as all emails landed in spam.I never received a clear receipt indicating what the charges were for. The original camp receipt in 2023 stated what the transaction was. The recurring charges do not.I contacted the company via email demanding cancellation and a full refund. I have also contacted my banks fraud department and filed a complaint with the ***. This is a deceptive and misleading practice that has impacted others online as well.I am seeking a full refund and confirmation that all recurring billing has been permanently stopped.Business Response

I got randomly charged ***** for a membership I did not ask for or know about. This "**********************" is also used for sign *** for a local recreation facility. They somehow got my bank account info and charged me twice for this. The email detailing the "membership" looks fake and fraudulent. They charged even after I removed my card info from the website. My name is ****** ***, and I am filing a complaint regarding an unauthorized and deceptive $99.95 charge by ACTIVE Advantage on June 2, 2025.I registered for a Muddy Dash event and, without my knowledge or clear consent, was enrolled in a paid membership with ACTIVE Advantage. There was no obvious disclosure that I would be charged for a membership, let alone one costing nearly $100. I received a $99.95 charge on my credit card from this company in August2024 and then again in June 2025 not even 10 months later for an annual membership I am assuming. I am tired of filing Fraud charges for this company every few months, as I have not authorized any transaction either time this year or in August 2024. I will continue to file BBB complaints until my account is completely deleted along with my Credit Card. The below instructions are ridiculous and do not work, it throws you errors and makes you go in circles. When I go to my Wallet I have a message that says my payment (which is an old credit card not even a current one) is securely stored so I can't even delete my credit Card. Please see (FTC) "Click-to-Cancel" Rule. Please work to follow this law at Active before I obtain a lawyer:Here's what the "Click-to-Cancel" Rule requires:Easy Cancellation: Businesses must make the cancellation process at least as easy as the enrollment process.Same Method: If a consumer signed up online, they must be able to cancel online as ******* Unnecessary Obstacles: Companies cannot make it difficult for consumers to cancel by, for instance, hiding cancellation links or requiring interactions with customer service if not necessary for sign-up.Clear Disclosures: Businesses must clearly and conspicuously disclose important terms like recurring charges, renewal deadlines, costs, and cancellation instructions before obtaining a consumer's billing information and charging them.Affirmative Consent: Companies must obtain a consumer's express informed consent to the recurring charges before billing them.
