I signed up with American Income Life (AIL) in 2016 as it had been an option for supplemental life insurance through my union. In 2022, I switched to another insurance company and attempted to discontinue my policy with AIL, however, when I attempted to cancel my policy, I was told that I could not cancel my policy via phone and needed to sign paperwork that would be sent to me by mail in order to discontinue the policies for myself and my daughters. I waited for the paperwork and it never arrived. I contacted AIL on several occasions and was told that the paperwork would be sent again. Each time I called, the wait time was at times, up to one hour long and then when an agent answered, they would immediately put me on hold and disconnect the call. Eventually, I became frustrated and stopped calling. I also put a stop payment at my bank for their charges. Then they began calling me. They called at all hours and I explained each time that I wanted to cancel and requested the cancellation paperwork be sent againthe representative informed me that they had my address as ******** instead of ******, where I live. Again, I never received the cancellation paperwork. *** continued to call, email and bill me, seeking payment.It is interesting that they are able to contact me, seeking money but are unable to send me the promised cancellation paperwork. I just want to cancel mine and my daughters policies with AIL but it seems that I am not allowed to. Please help my get the paperwork for cancellation delivered to me.Business Response

We would like to thank ***************** for allowing us to respond. A review of our records shows that ****************** contacted our office on March 16, 2023 to request the cancellation of the coverage. We show that completed cancellation forms have been received but not for all policies in the household, however, based on the customers requests to cancel the coverage and in order to resolve this situation, we have reversed the automatic premium loans placed against the cash value of each policy through the nonfeature option of each policy and have surrendered all coverage for their full cash value.

Will not stop calling me. They will call 25 - 40 times a day every day of the week. I have told them numerous times that I do not want to change anything about my insurance policy and to stop calling me. I have blocked the number that they call from and a different person will call from another number. This has been going on for over a year and they have started calling my wife and she has told them to stop calling her and they continue to call.Business Response

I, *********************, and my girlfriend, ***************************, had policies for a few months. After receiving better policies through our work, we decided to cancel the policies we had through American Income Life. After being on the phone for quite a long time, we were finally able to get in touch with someone who could help us. She constantly kept trying to sell us on the insurance, but ultimately canceled our policies for us. We received cancelation paperwork in the mail a while later. Yesterday (months later) my girlfriend received a call that her policies' billing had been changed, not canceled, and that she owed money. The man on the phone insisted that he come to her house to go over the policy and that she could cancel if she still didn't want it. These policies were canceled months ago. Why are we receiving calls about bills on closed accounts?Business Response

When they were removed from automatic bank draft, the system generated a last direct billing notice. This notice can be ignored. I have reached out to the office of the independently contracted agents and requested that the contact information be removed from their internal database. This may take up to 10 days. The company had my incorrect birthdate. I want to cancel my policy and they are refusing to do so because someone put my birthdate in wrong. We never received a policy and want it terminated.Business Response

Previously, a request to surrender policy ******** was received, but, the authorization form that we received did not have the information needed to process.

I am getting harassing phone advertising from American Income Life. I tell them to stop calling me and they ignore my request and continue to call. I block the number and they call from another number. They are rude and disrespectful and tell me they will continue to call. All I want is to be left alone. Take my number off their list. I will never buy anything from them and will give negative reviews every time.Business Response

I called over TWO months ago to cxl this policy and I keep getting bills. I was then charged for $44 and they stated it will be refunded. I called again last week spoke to a supervisor she assured me this will be refunded today is 8/3 and still no refund i called again today they place me on hold for 20 minutes for a supervisor and NO ANSWER! horrible service. I want to make sure ALL of the accounts acre cancelled !I called two times to cancel this and still waiting for my credit card to be refunded! Horrible customer service! Policies 16747309/10/11/12 were cancelled as of June 24, 2023. When policies are cancelled and removed from bank draft the system automatically generates a direct billing notice. If the insured is not interested in continuing the coverage, the notice should be ignored.
Policies ******** and 09 have been in force long enough to have accrued cash value. The surrender value of these policies will be released within 7 business days.

***************************, an employee, is misrepresenting the **** agency by claiming they are part of Teamsters *********. ****************** is contacting ********* (*********) Teamster members and using that falsehood in an attempt to sell supplemental life insurance to individuals. To date, ****************** has only contacted members who are senior citizens, and quotes them their beneficiaries and addresses in an attempt to gain their trust. The **** Division is running a scam to confuse older membership and fleece them of their income.Business Response

We appreciate ****** for reaching out to our office for clarification regarding American Income's (AIL) relationship with Teamsters *********.
*************************** is an independently contracted agent with the **** Agency Office. Agent ******* is appointed to offer products sold by AIL.
AIL has a group contract with the *************** thru which its members in good standing are provided a no cost Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy.. When the member completes a Lead Card with their beneficiary information, an agent contacts that member to explain the benefit being offered. At that time the agent will also review other insurance products offered by AIL. the member has no obligation to consider or purchase any other product.
I have had ****** information added to our internal Do Not Contact database. Additionally, I have requested that the **** group remove contact information from their database.

March 21, 2023 I requested funds from my and my husbands life insurance policy. I turned in all legally required forms including a notarized letter. I was informed I had to use a form identified to be used by their office. I submitted the requested information by the 1st of April. Then I had to resubmit again mid-April. I had not received the money yet. I called this July and because I requested to close the account at the time I requested the money I was denied payment unless I pay $300(+) as the account was not delinquent when I requested the funds. The supervisor ** refuses to honor the fact when I made the request the accounts were not delinquent and continues to hold money owned to me and my husband!Business Response

Purchased life insurance policy from American Income Life 12-09-1993, requested a payout on 05-31-2023/05-26-23/06-04-23 was told a check was sent. Contacted again on 06-07-23/06-08-23 was told they re-issued another check. To contact them in a month, which I did on 7-14-23. They told me they auto deposited the check and to wait two days. On 7/20/2023, my ******** had a Zoom meeting with ***************************, licensed rep. with American Income Life Insurance. We agreed to buy ********************** Ins. for $65.23, start date draft from our checking account on 8/15/2023; however AIL took money from our account the next day 7/21/2023 in the amount of $75.93. We immediately contacted Agent *************************** since the policies were not approved & we did not receive any policy ************ had a start date of August 15th, 2023 then something must be wrong. We contacted her via phone messages & multiple emails, but she has refused to respond to us. We email her asking to immediately refund us our money & cancel all pending policies.She has gone silent. She is refusing to respond to us.We just want our money back. We want our $75.93 refunded!Business Response

Premiums for the first month are collected at the time of application. The second premium is then collected on the applicant's requested pay date. This allows the applicant to have immediate coverage while we underwrite the application. If for some reason the application is declined, the application will receive a full refund of premiums paid.
Applications for ******** ******** have been cancelled. Refunds collected were deposited directly to **************** bank account on August 6, 2023.
