A person is legally entitled to a phone call when arrested. This companys pre billing system makes this impossible. The inmate is instructed to call back after the recipient has added a credit card and went through various prompts. This is not the right thing to do. The company acts as a middleman and forces people to play phone tag during a potentially life altering event. They also have an auto pay feature that requires you to cancel manually after. They charge a $30 monthly maintenance to ensure that they keep the original prepaid deposit. This companys current practice is unacceptable.Business Response

These people charged me $64.94 for a five minute call and will not answer the call and didn't say anything about these hidden fees and haven't refunded my money back and continue to charge my cardBusiness Response

ON 3/31/2024 MY DAUGHTER WAS DETAINED ************ ORDER TO TALK TO HER I PAID ***** . I HAD TO ENTER MY DEBIT INFO. WE TALKED 2 TIMES FOR 5 MINUTES AND THEN I WAS ASKED TO PAY *****. WE TALKED ANOTHER 3 OR 4 MINUTES AND I WAS ASKED TO PAY MORE MONEY,WHICH I DIDNT. ON 4/01/2024 MY DAUGHTER WAS RELEASED. WE DID NOT USE THE SERVICE AGAIN.I THEN GOT CHARGED ***** ON 5/01/2024. There is always two charges the prompts are very clear. It also states as long as the account is active there is a monthly fee and to close account if no longer needed. The account was not closed and was charged the next month. The account is now closed and we will refund the last charge of 29.99

The system is contracted by police department. When family member calls collect they demand $34.95 to take call. I put card in and it still said I had zero balance, so I tried to use it 2 more times and tried different card now they took 3 payments and my cards were marked for fraud. I never received any service I was only refunded for one transaction and they still owe me for the other two. I tried to call and email them with no response.Business Response

On 1/18/24, I loaded money onto my account to receive a call from a local city jail in ********, **. We were never connected on the phone, and the prerecording said that I would be eligible for a refund on April 17, which I marked on my calendar. I went to ***************************** and called the billing number ************), and it says I have a $0 account balance. This is a total scam, and I should be refunded for a service that I didn't even use. Shame on your company for these shady operations. Please refund me. I closed an account on 12/26/23, was told the refund would be available to me on 3/26/24. I have attempted to contact the business twice by filling out the online contact information like I was instructed to do. I was told it could take 48 hours to receive my refund. I am unable to contact them via phone as they do not give an option to contact them with any concerns. The only way to contact them is through their online portal and it does not seem like they respond to those requests. Big concerns regarding the Ethical practices within this company, unsure how they are able to get away with these practices.Business Response

2/14/2024 $29.95, $29.95, $30.90, $***** = $110.79 I was trying to receive calls from ****** ***** who was arrested at the *************************** in ** on 2/13/2024 around 11:30 pm - 12:00 am. When I got the first call from ******, I was able to receive a free call from him since he was in booking at the time before he was moved to the jail, it had asked me to start an account and pay to receive it through the phone. I went through the process and tried two different credit cards that had money on them and it wouldnt work. I tried online same issue. Another person try to do this and had similar issues. When I spoke to someone with the number ending in 7031, they said that there was a problem with the system recently with the cards so maybe that was the case. Eventually, found a card that worked. I was fortunately able to talk to him 3 times. Now Im worried about the credit balance left and how Im able to get it. The balance is $55.82. I was told by officers from the MB Station and J ***** **** **************** to call the customer service number so I did. I was given the website to fill out a form for the request for the refund and it said me I would get it by this May 15th. I couldnt find the form. I waited and contacted the jail and spoke to Officer *****. He recommended that I close it so I wouldnt get charged the ***** for next month so thats what I did and also because I wouldnt need this account since the jail and station use different calling services. I called the number today again at 11:48 pm and went on the website ********************************* and still couldnt find the form. I would like a call back if that is an option to see what can be done or email works if not! ************. I appreciate what has been done since, I was able to talk to him. At the bottom I put the total amount I paid but, Im requesting only the credit balance of $55.82 thats for the record of the 3 calls that went through plus the monthly fee which I know cant be refunded.Business Response

Hi I made this talk collect account awhile ago maybe a year or two? I used it once with an old credit card to answer a jail call and I only used it that once. I never signed in it again and also got a new card. A couple months ago I go to answer another jail call and it turns out they been taking my money making me negative and that I still owe a balance of $90 and I wasn’t able to answer the call. I go to the website and seen they were still charging me while the account was inactive. I disconnected it once I found out and had to wait 90 days for an appeal/refund. It’s finally been 90 days and they tell me to go to this tip systems website that doesn’t exist and I’m stuck with a fat bill for no reason and I want it cleared. It’s fraud. You guys are stealing my money and making it so I can’t even use my account without paying for a bill I shouldn’t even have to owe !!! I want this resolved ASAP. $90 is ridiculous!!! I already emailed them too the talk collect people and I am being completely ignored. I don’t want to make this a big issue but I will. I’m negative and can’t even use my account. There is an account maintenance fee if the account remains active. This account was active since Oct of 2021. The account was closed in May of 2022 and then when they needed to use it again in August of 2022 the system requires any outstanding balance to be paid.
