I hired Apple Roofing to install a new roof on my home in *******. The first indication of poor workmanship appeared when I noticed nails visibly protruding from the overhangs of my roof. Within just a few months, during a rainstorm, I experienced significant water intrusion into both of my bathrooms through the newly installed skylights completed by Apple Roofing. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the installers failed to reconnect the condensation hose to my rooftop A/C unit. This negligence led to water damage to my one bathroom wood vinyl flooring.Shortly afterward, a heavier rainstorm caused additional water damage, this time to the ceilings of both my guest and master bedrooms. Despite repeated service calls, it took two visits and additional damage to the ceiling before Apple Roofing ultimately identified and fixed the roof leak.I was assured these issues would be resolved by Apple Roofing, yet after eight months of ongoing calls and follow-ups with no resolution or compensation for the damage, I was left with no choice but to pursue legal action. After months of preparing and filing court documents and incurring further expenses, the court ruled in my favor and issued a judgment. That judgment was granted four months ago, yet Apple Roofing has failed to remit payment despite being contacted and provided with all supporting legal documentation. I am now in the unfortunate position of having to take further legal steps, including placing liens on their property, in an attempt to recover the damages awarded. This situation has caused me significant stress, financial burden, and loss of time. Im submitting this complaint in hopes of not only resolving the matter, but also to warn other homeowners to exercise caution when considering Apple Roofing. Based on my experience, I believe their handling of this situation has been unprofessional and dismissive of their responsibilities.********** ********Business Response

Between me and the insurance we paid the business a lot of money it's supposed to be under warranty. I have complained of this business since day one that my gutters were not right now it is ripping the fascia off of my house. They did not care that the job was not done right when they did it all they cared about was getting their money. Now **** just called me and told me that it is not their issue and they will not be the ones fixing it. He said the gutters did not do that but the gutters absolutely did that because if they would have been installed correctly they would have not ripped this off my house I want them to fix this immediately.Business Response

Business Response to BBB Complaint:
At Apple Roofing, we take great pride in the quality of our work and the satisfaction of our customers. Were truly sorry to hear that the homeowner continues to have concerns, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify what has taken place.
We originally installed a new roof on this home and, at the homeowners request, reinstalled it after her sona roofer himselfexpressed concern about the underlayment. While the original installation met industry standards, we returned, removed the roof, and reinstalled it to ensure peace of mind. The homeowner was shown the completed work, including the proper felt installation, and confirmed satisfaction at that time.
Following the roof installation, we also installed new gutters. Recently, the homeowner contacted us regarding damage to her fascia and claimed the gutters were causing the issue. Upon inspection, our team found that the fascia had been physically broken, likely by an external object, which caused it to pull away from the home and in turn affected the positioning of the gutters. We did not install or replace the fascia as part of our scope of work, and we explained that it is not covered under the roof or gutter warranty.
We stand behind our workmanship and remain committed to doing the right thing. Our warranties cover materials and labor for the roofing and gutter systems we install, but unfortunately do not extend to existing structural elementslike fasciathat were not replaced or modified by our team.
We always strive for clear communication and fair resolution. We hope this explanation helps provide clarity, and we remain happy to assist the homeowner with a fascia repair referral if needed.
Sincerely,

They did not inspect it. They simply looked at the photos I sent. No one came and inspected anything! They also told me it was from the wood which they should have changed when they installed because I signed papers for them to do it. Now their story is changingInitial Complaint

I entered a contract with Apple Roofing on August 20th, 2024, to replace my roof and I gave them a $7,000.00 down payment. They scheduled to start work on the morning of October 11th, 2024. They failed to have a dry-in inspection conducted by Bellevue Inspectors as required by the City. They failed to install Owen Corning products, as the contract specified. They failed to install new drip edging behind the gutters, and I believe throughout the project, as required by the contract.
We were not home when they showed up to do the roof because they were late. Per the Bellevue planning and permit department, they had the dry-in inspection scheduled for 11:30 am that they failed to show up for. According to our security cameras, they didn’t show up until after 2pm. Instead of rescheduling and doing the job properly, they proceeded to install the roof and attempted to mislead me in regards to the permit requirements. I waited in line at the Bellevue planning department for close to two hours to speak with the clerk. She told me the inspector had showed up on time but Apple Roofing hadn’t.
When I confronted them with the information the Bellevue Planning department provided, they sent pictures showing they had done the work properly. But as the pictures show, they didn’t install the proper OC PRO ARMER Synthetic Felt, which means the roof doesn’t qualify for the Owen Corning, manufacturer warranty, as was contracted.
According to our security cameras, they managed to remove the old roof and install the new one, including all the metal, within three hours. But when I returned home that evening, there was a pile of new roof metal in our driveway and our security cameras didn’t show them installing any.
I have been attempting to resolve this with the company and someone claiming to be the owner Marcus, said they’ll replace it but they haven’t followed through, to date.
I have additional photos and texts, to prove my claim, if needed.Customer Answer

Good Afternoon,
I received this complaint this morning and we are addressing this issue immediately. Follow up has been made with this homeowner and we are actively working to rectify the situation. Our site supervision team has identified that this leak seems to be coming from an exhaust fan and may be from condensation. I will be personally reaching out to this homeowner immediately following this email to assist in any way possible. I am also copying the complaint to the local Sales Manager and will continue to coordinate the solution with him. I will follow up with your office immediately after resolving this issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hello,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the inconvenience and delayed response as we gathered information and worked internally to plan a solution to this issue. We want to be sure to address this issue and provide a better customer experience.
We are working with a third party contractor to apply a foam over the entirety of the roof. This will resolve the leak issue. We anticipate that the work will be completed by the first week of December. We will provide additional updates as soon as more information is available.
Thank you,
Tim ********

Apple roofing replaced my skylight on July 15, 2024. The bid that I signed said it was for complete replacement and included "everything needed." During the replacement their installer cut the drywall around the top of my interior lightwell, leaving a large gap and unfinished, rough dry wall around the interior edge of the skylight. Hot (and soon to be cold) air is also seeping into the house from that gap. I contacted my sales person ******* ******, who said that this issue is not their responsibility. My response was that any bid for any kind of window replacement would normally include trim and finish, and ******* agreed to fix the issue with some trim. I was leaving the country in three days, but ******* agreed to address the damage after I returned. On August 9, the day after I returned from my travels, I called to schedule a repair. ******* said he couldn't put me on the schedule, that he had referred me to "production" and they would be getting in touch with me to schedule. It has now been nearly three months. I have called numerous times, and each time I am politely given the brush off. Last week I finally got the name of the person in "production" (*****) who is supposedly able to address this issue, and I called and left a message on his direct line. Now another week has passed with no response. I get the distinct impression that they are ignoring me and hoping I will go away. They have my money (I paid immediately upon installation), but I am left with a window installation that is unfinished and has an uninsulated gap allowing for hot/cold air into my home.Customer Answer

I signed a contract with Apple Roofing on March 9, 2023 to replace my roof with a Worthouse Metal tile product after hurricane Ian in September of 2022. Supplies were delivered on April 18, and after the concrete tile was removed the metal install began on May 5, with work stoppage on May 13. Several issues were noted at this time, vents were not installed over the garage and a portion of the roof was not covered yet. I have text messages of my contact with the site manager back and forth with no resolution. On June 4, I contacted the corporate office and spoke with Holly on June 5, in an attempt to get the workers back to finish. They started work again on June 9, 2023, but did not correct areas on the ridge. The site manager and the Worthouse sales manager came out on July 7. They looked at the areas of concern including the ventilation, small area of the roof not covered and the ridge over the office not completed appropriately. The Worthouse sales manager and site manager with Apple agreed these areas should be redone properly, and the roof coverage completed and ventilation issues resolved. On July 8, 2023, work resumed again, and again they were unable to fix the ridge over the office. At this time I noticed they had completed areas with ridge caps that did not match the ones installed back in May. They delivered more incorrect ridge caps. As of July 13, I now had a new site manager which also looked at areas of concern, and agreed it was not done properly.
Up until this point I had relayed to several people in the company I have been unable to obtain home owners insurance because UPC went bankrupt after the hurricane, and no company will write a policy until the permit is complete. I cannot obtain a mitigation study for the same reason. I at this point contacted by email, the Apple regional manager on August 7. Two workers came out on August 8, did nothing. We are now approaching 6 months from contract signing, yet I can get no one to complete this roof.Business Response

After a comprehensive review of the complaint, we assigned our production manager to review and address all the issues raised in this complaint. Her report follows below:
=========
Final inspection on the
roof was passed on 8/23 and the permit is closed. The few cosmetic issues that
exist with the roofing system are being addressed with the correct ridge and
end caps to be delivered and installed this week. The only outstanding work
after that will be the gutters in which we have all the materials for and are
prepared to take care of in the next 5-7 days if the owners are on board. If
not, we can remove the gutters from the original bill and they are welcome to
hire someone else to take care of that.Customer Answer

To Whom It May Concern:
I have had the roof completely repaired as of October 6, 2023, seven months after the contract was signed. It is completely understandable after Hurricane Ian in 2022 that installers were hard to find. We were very patient in this regard, I feel. After having discussed this with the CEO, *** ****** ********, we seemed to be on the same page. Communication with us was poor. We have multiple text messages in which Apple was to come out to finish the work, yet they never showed. We were never sure what to believe. I must say everyone at Apple has never been anything but kind and understanding. Let me say I am not in a position to tell someone how to run their business. However, there are times when the boss just has to get on the phone, or an airplane, and come to the aid of the employees otherwise why are you a member of the BBB? As a physician for 35 years before retiring, if I had treated patients this way, by not returning text messages or not following up on medical problems, labs, x-rays, I would have either lost my license, been sued, or both. Replacing my roof does not hold someone's life in their hands, but the messaging is just the same. It is supposed to be a Better Business. Now you have an unhappy customer. The potential for lost business from this complaint, I would think, would offset any costs *** ******** would have incurred had he done what he needed to satisfy us. If anyone would use this company, I would advise they keep very close attention to the detail of the replacement, and absolutely put a completion date within the contract.
You may close this complaint at this time, and I really appreciate your attention to this matter. I wish Apple much success, as you are willing to subject your company to the standards of the BBB. I respect Apple Roofing for this. Attention to detail with consistent communication would had gone a long way to keep this disgruntled couple off the BBB website.
Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.

We contracted with NMC in May of 2022 for a new roof and siding. I believe the siding was put on in July. There were numerous problems with the drip ledge and the venting on the roof. The building inspector suggested we not complete payment until these issues were taken care of. He was also surprised at the sloppy work on several areas of the siding. The venting was finally replaced and several areas of sloppy work were attended to. The siding started bowing out during the cold weather this past winter. We took photos and paid a roofing/siding contractor we had dealt with before to assess the issue. His opinion was that the siding was either nailed down too hard or nails may be sticking out. A manager from NMC (*****) inspected it and pounded a few nails that were in a small area he checked and said the whole area would need to be checked. The company is refusing to do that. We have been given many excuses and promises in the last year. The latest is that the studs are twisted, but no one has ever looked to see if that is true. And, the issue is less pronounced in warmer weather. After speaking with **** today (6-12-23), my husband was told that he should figure out the problem and let them know what it is. My 77-year-old husband with disabilities will not be getting on a ladder to do their work for them. We would appreciate help in resolving this as it is a lot of money for us, and we are just tired of dealing with it. Thank you. *** and ***************Business Response

I am so disappointed in the lack of response and the quality of work by Apple Roofing. They did a "repair" on my roof after storm damage in the fall of 2022. I have reached out to Jake and the company regarding a written warranty for the work, and Jake kept giving me the run-around that I would get one from corporate which I still have not received. The work done on the roof was extremely poor. They did not match the roof tile colors as promised, the gaps in the roof are large and non-matching, and the nails are sticking out. In addition, once the project was complete, there were nails all over my yard, and underlayment sticking out of the project they had completed.
I would like a refund on this project or an overhaul on the project that they completed to be finished at the agreed upon specifications. Although I would rather get my money back and wipe my hands clean of Apple Roofing, I need my roof to be repaired for what the compnay and I had agreed to. This work was horrible.Business Response

Our local Branch Manager, Keven, had a great meeting with the
Homeowner. He inspected the roof and agreed that the 3 rake tile are not a
march and we agreed to order those and replace them. Our Branch Manager also
found 5 cracked tile as he walked the roof – we told the homeowner that Apple
Roofing will replace those 5 cracked tile as well. Our Branch Manager and
Homeowner compared calendars and mutually agreed to connect on Monday to
confirm a day when the work would be completed. In closing, the Homeowner was
very frustrated because he couldn’t get a hold of his Roofing Consultant to
discuss the roofing issues but was very thankful to have our Branch Manager
review and agree to address the roof issues. We consider this complaint
