Absolute garbage of a company, will hike your rates immediately and they seem to be monopolizing all of the local rental storage units here so we have no free market choice of storage units. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Renters beware!! On 9/26/23 I leased a 10x10 drive up access storage space for $146/month (the total including the mandatory insurance policy). After 4 months my rate increased to $242/month. Per the employee on site today, prices are subject to change - depending on supply and demand. When the employee was made aware that according to their website (as of today), a 10x10 drive up access space is available to rent for $77/month, the employee said I would have to discuss further w/a manager. However, no managers are onsite today, and to expect a call back tomorrow.I have seen several recent reviews for this company describing the exact same thing.

I was given a movie in special for the month of November and my monthly rent for December and ******* was less than what I was paying at Public storage. I knew there would be some kind of increase over an extended period of time but my rent increased instantly by $80 this coming February. Now I and back to paying this high rent within 3 months.

The price increases are predatory! We signed up 6months ago at $77 per month. In 3 months the price was $131 per month, today they want $211 per month. The associate told me that these prices increase like this every 3-4 months. This is criminal and there should be a class action lawsuit against this price increase policy. Nothing was explained at signed. WARNING. DO NOT RENT SPACE FROM EXTRA SPACE STORAGE without understanding their predatory practices!!! This is almost a criminal operation

BAIT AND SWITCH LANDLORD. EXPECT RENT INCREASE EVERY 3-4 MTHS. In three months they attempt to double your internet quoted and corporate call center handled rental rate. Also they claim to have lost your lease and ask you to do it electronically all over again at your 3 month anniversary. They claimed that they were adjusting rates to area conditions. When I researched rates in the area. It appeares Extra Space colludes with other large regional/national players on my rent survey done at month 3. The national/regional players all had rates close to double the area rent charged by mom and pop storage companies. This is a corporation that gouges clients until they move to a place they should have chosen initially. Avoid Them When I told the local agent, I'm out and won't pay double my initial rate of $110 for a 10x20 unit in ************, they agreed to raise me only $50 to avoid my move out. and need you to sign a different lease 3 months later. In my case, I started with Extra Space who sold after 5 months of me in their former ********************* IN location. After 3 months, they emailed me an invoice for double the initial rate. I told them I'm out and they negotiated down to a $50 dollar increase to keep me. However, they sold that location to Midgard and Midgard kept the practice of 3 month increases. I just moved out to better options given my 4rth increase at pennies less than double rent in less than a year. So avoid Midgard and Extra Space as they are colluding to substantially raise rental rates in the area. Find better landlords unless you are needing very short term rentals inside of 3 months. They are betting you won't move and profit by gouging you until you do. But they're practice affects the area rental rates. I moved to a landlord quoting $129 to Midgard $209 and the $129 landlord quoted that same rate 9 months ago.See attached as evidence of my beginning and ending experience with Midgard and Extra Space.

**********- I generally don't write reviews, because I understand that one bad experience doesn't mean its a bad business- but this experience was terrible and I think the public should be aware. Internet price's are a scam and the staff take advantage of people-knowing that once they move all of their belongings in, they wont want to move again. I rented a unit at the internet price- I have only had one payment since then. The price I was quoted was $99. Yesterday I received a notice saying there was a price increase for my unit, to $178. A ridiculous increase for a new renter. I have literally only been there long enough to make one payment. When I called, thinking it was a mistake, I was told that I signed a month to month contract and the new amount "is still a discounted rate." $99 to $178? They could have warned that the rate wouldn't stick for more than one month- but instead they offered me a rate of $99 per month and just immediately sent me a letter of increase. She said "that was the internet rate." Ok, but the internet doesn't create its own rate, the business does- so you should honor it. We are not talking about a $20 increase after being there a few months- we are talking about an increase of over 90% of what I was quoted exactly one payment after moving my belongings in. Its wildly unprofessional and down right shady business. Don't rent from them, and if there is absolutely no other choice, protect yourself and get a locked in rate- because the original quoted price is a scam. When all they have to do is give you 30 notice of increase, they can do whatever they want, even if its wrong- and they will.

I'm a loyal customer whose was spoken to with great disrespect and disdain over a 30min. Policy. I have lupus and am in great pain and have an upstairs unit. I was told I need to finish unpacking my car and unit within 30 min. Which is highly unreasonable. I came in and spent a few hours rearranging my boxes to fit more and was scolded for being on the property for more then 30 min. Once I find another more *** accesable unit I will be leaving.

Life Storage in **********, ** scammed me as well. Signed up 3 months ago online, make sure to pay early every month, and as a reward I just got a generic little postcard in the mail saying my rental is increasing $80/month (from $385 to $465) due to a reevaluation of market conditions. When I went in just now to ask if it was a mistake, I was informed that the rates go up automatically every 3.5 months. They offered to knock it back to $422/month for a month but I don't negotiate with terrorists. I'll move it all out before my next payment date. These places are a dime a dozen- and if you find the right one out of ten they won't treat their customers like garbage. So, instead of getting their $400/mo reliably for at least the next two years- they won't get anything else from me thanks to their greed and predatory business tactics. It's disgusting.
