1 starI have a Viking refrigerator whose crisper drawers fell off the tracks and I couldnt get them back together. I called Famous Appliance since they could come out right away. When they came, I could see that they were struggling. They insisted on ordering a new shelf and drawer runner combination from ******. They also quoted to install a new dairy compartment that had failed years ago. Their quote was upwards of $2700 to get new parts from ****** and to re-install it all. I overheard that they werent quite sure if I might need a 2nd shelf, also, which would have been even more! Service for ****** products is expensive, but this is ridiculous! They wanted me to pay down before they would proceed. So Im out $1400, up front, while waiting for their parts to come in. After a few days of fuming, I decided to call another appliance service company that is prominent here in **************. The price they were quoting was about 25% of Famous and I could tell they knew exactly what they were doing, So I cancelled Famous, and they wanted a 25% restocking fee on the shelf, drawer runner set and dairy compartment. When the other company came out the following week, they brought with them the new shelf without the drawer runner, which they said was not needed! Within 20 minutes they had the new shelf installed with the old runners and drawers! My total cost was 25% of the Famous estimate. No muss, no fuss. I wish I had never called Famous with their higher price and expensive restocking fee. ****** owners, be warned: research repair companies carefully.Review fromRon G

I called Famous Appliance to fix my Bosch dishwasher. It turned out the sump motor needed to be replaced. They came out on a Thursday, and said they had to order the part. It came in on the following Tuesday, but they couldn't come out to install it until Friday. After installing it, we were told not to run the dishwasher for at least 4 hours because he used a sealant. There should be no reason to use a sealant to install a new sump motor. But, it meant that he left without testing his "fix". We waited for 6 hours and turned it on. We heard was some loud noises and an error light came on "watertap". I looked up that error code and it said basically that no water was getting into the dishwasher. I called after 8am the next day on Saturday to report the problem. Rather than apologizing and saying they'd send someone out right away to finish the job, they told me they could schedule someone to come out the following week. I called a handyman I frequently employ to see if he could finish the job. However, after hooking up the water that Famous Appliance forgot to connect, we turned on the dishwasher, it made a horrible racket. He pulled out the dishwasher and discovered the sump fan was improperly installed, and there was now a leak around it too. Also, the motor Famous Appliance replaced (because it was leaking) was still leaking. There was also a leak in the hose connecting to the dishwasher. Overall, this Famous Appliance technician spent 3 hours to do an incompetent install, and created additional leaks. I couldn't rely on Famous Appliance to return and do it right, because the receptionist told me it was their policy that the original guy had to return to fix it. I didn't want that technician back. He clearly doesn't know what he's doing. Since I can't get a competent person from Famous Appliance, I am stuck either paying a different company to do the job right, OR just cutting my losses and get a new unit. Terrible, terrible experience.Famous Appliance Service Company

***, I understand your frustration with the situation. We guarantee our work for 90 days. We tried to get you set up with an appointment for that Monday. Your comments in your review reflect how your conversation with our receptionist went. Very demanding and insulting. We had no issues getting your situation handled and taken care of, but you could not be patient and moved forward with a handy man. I apologize for how everything work out.Review fromLarry E

1 starI debated leaving after seeing this company is already at less than 1.5 out of ****but what the heck...here it goes.to be completely fair...the upfront dealings were pleasant enough. responsive, apt set quickly, window for tech arrivals set, contact made advising that they were on their way...and yes...he showed up on time. he quickly diagnosed that my oven wasnt working (already knew that)...said that it needed a new control board (already figured this was the issue with self diagnostics), he verbally quoted over $450 for the part and another $150 for the labor - bill of just over $600 to complete the repair. I advised i had a friend who might be able to help me with replacing the control board. I asked for an invoice, he said he will send me one (expecting the invoice for the service visit and a bid for the repair in case we decided to have them do the work). The tech quickly took my payment and literally ran out my door. I received the invoice reflecting the service charge but no bid/estimate for the repair. I called 3 different times asking for a bid for the repair, each time being promised that they would send me one. They just added a note to the bottom of the service invoice saying control board and lower fan needed to be replaced (nothing was mentioned during the service visit about the lower fan being bad). The last time i called i asked for a bid/estimate for the work to be done as my friend was actually not able to make it and i may want to get the work done through them. They just sent the same invoice, no bid, no estimate...I paid over $75 to have someone tell me what i already knew and then dodged me when i repeatedly tried to get the bid/estimate for repair. This upset me enough that i decided to repair it on my own. I found the correct part, ordered it and replaced it myself (thanks You ****). Saved myself over $300 and now know not to ever call this company for any service in the future. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANYReview fromPamela L

1 starZero stars - they don't even deserve one star...I made an appointment several days in advance for Friday 6/30. They said they would be at my home between 10a - 1p. At 12:40p, I hadn't heard a peep from these folks. So, I called them. The dispatcher said yes you are on the schedule today. She checked with the technician who said he was running late and would be to my house in the next 1 to 1.5 hours. By 2:15p I still hadn't heard a peep from this company. I called them again. The dispatcher was unaware the tech was still not at my house. She checked with the tech again. He was still at the previous call. Mind you, I called them each time. Not once did they reach out to me on their own. Customer ********************** is non existent. I canceled the appointment.Review fromBonnie W

1 starI was very disappointed in service provided I had them at my home 3 times to repair Maytag washer they replaced the same part twice after tech told me throw down lid for machine to spin out water. Did what I was told, part had to be replaced again, charged me full price even after I complained. No discount, manager said,my technician would never say that ! Well he did! And I paid for his mistake. Manager rude! Will never use on any of my appliances!Review fromJohn L

1 starAbsolutely would not recommend this contractor to repair anything. The technician charged me am exorbitant amount for two small items that were sold elsewhere on line for a price half or less. I did not see an itemized statement until after the tech left when I received an email invoice. The primary problem I was experiencing was with the refrigerator water/ice dispenser and had self corrected by the time he arrived. So, since I was on the hook for their service call, I thought I would ask him to repair/replace the filter and microwave vent panel, two very simple items. The labor charge was $168 for a ten minute job. He ordered the parts, a filter with a charge of $200 and a microwave vent panel of $300. I researched the prices and noted that both parts were available online for $50 or less and $150 respectively. After researching prices, I called the office within minutes after the tech left and questioned the charges, the manager showed no interest and indicated that I had agreed to the total price and that I was obliged to pay the total amount. There are over a hundred negative reviews on YELP and very few positive ones. Apparently, they don't care about customer satisfaction. Anyway, I was fleeced by the technician and taken advantage of by this business. Buyer beware!Review fromJason C

1 starI hired this company because my dryer has begun making a loud knocking/clanking noise. Nearly $400 later, it makes the exact same noise, which is extremely disruptive since I work from home and spend most of the day on conference calls. The company has sent technicians to re-assess, and their conclusion is that it is normal for the dryer (and all dryers, apparently) to make continuous loud knocking noises. They explained that because the dryer does not make the noise when it is empty, there is nothing wrong with the dryer (because, of course, dryers only exist to make white noise and not to hold anything inside). The technician added one towel at a time to show that the knocking noise only kicks in after 3 towels have been added, indicating that we are overloading the dryer or using towels with rock-hard corners. I asked to speak with the owner about my concerns but have not been contacted. In short, I paid a hefty price to eliminate an unbearable noise, yet the noise persists and the company could not care less.Review fromJill S

1 starI had famous appliance service come out to my home on May 11, 2023 for a broken washing machine. I told him the situation and the problems I was having. He checked on my machine and then came up and told me the issue. Little did I know I was going to be charged $219 for a $60 part. But, paying a 75% markup? That's a bit much! Labor charge was $168, which I believe was reasonable. They said it was my actuator. Never addressed ************ of oil that was at the bottom of my washing machine. When the guy's in your kitchen and gives you the price, it's hard to say: "Hold on, let me call around and see who can offer a better price," so I said yes lets go ahead with the service. I paid half $216 of my over $400 service charge. When he left, I had this very uneasy feeling that something wasnt right. So I called around to six other appliance repair shops in the area and they all quoted me $60 for this particular part. 75% difference! One of them even said thats a 10 minute fix and its part of my service fee. When I mentioned the company that came out, several of them already had dealings with their high ********* And actually laughed on the phone when I said that Famous was wanting to charge me $219. I did have two other companies come out the following two days to look at my machine. That part was not even broken! They tested it. It was actually my transmission on my washing machine! Which explains the puddle of grease/oil underneath! One of those companies felt so bad they didnt even charge me their service fee!I canceled my return appt to fix what they felt was the broken part. They charged me not just the service call which was fine. They charged me a 25% restock fee on the $219 part! Still more than what the part cost at those 6 other places! I tried to get my refund back on that, and the guy was rude, and would not budge! I am out a 25% restock fee on the $219 part! Lessons learned! Avoid them and call someone else.Review fromdaniel o.

****% markup on each part. No lie. Initially called them and asked for a part number because I was suspicious of cost, they refused to give them to me. Looked them up. OEM parts, retail, 1/10 the price. literally $1,200 for $130 in parts. They said that markup is common in ****, and if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere.Famous Appliance Service Company

Lets put this in real perspective and not over exaggerate. You were quoted $650 for your repair. That was for parts and labor. Retail cost on the part needed to fix your machine is $283. Then there is labor, tax and the service fee on top of that. Obviously there is a cost mark up we are a business. Our pricing is in line with professional market costs.daniel o.

Have you read through the other comments? They say the same things. Do you not see the consistent feedback here? You're gouging. I'm not even mad about it at this point. You're keeping the labor and travel costs, I still have broken equipment. You're ok with us losing, and you winning... and what's your response to that? "You're exaggerating" (I'm not. You cherry picked the one item thats 250% marked up, not one of the other two that are 10x)... and "That's how business is done".... You don't acknowledge anything on your end... why? Because you matter to you, not the customer. You couldn't care less about my experience of your company thus far, and it shows in your response, as well as the other reviews and ratings here and on the net. If the customers pay your inflated prices, good. If they don't, you discard them and move on, without a second thought. *Don't use this appliance company.Review fromHeidi C

I am sorry you feel this way. However you have experienced a problem that was masked by the first problem we have already fixed. We also received a defective part and there was no way of knowing until it was installed. We are trying to get this resolved for you as quickly as possible, but when you refuse to let our tech in the home to do the repair it makes it difficult to resolve the issue in a timely manner.
