On Friday June 21st at around 8pm I saw that my Tesla had been towed from the Lowe's parking lot at **** ***** *** ****. I knew it was towed because my Tesla's alarm was triggered and my car's GPS locator indicated it in was at the address of *** * *** *. This is impound lot #***. When I arrived I spoke with Brittany J*****. She said it would be $370 with cash or $381 with Venmo to get my car released. I said I wanted to pay with my credit card. Brittany said the credit card system was down and I had to pay with cash or Venmo. I said she could write down my card number and run it later. She refused. Before I knew it was actually state law that that an impound yard must allow a credit card as form of payment, I asked "What are your advertised forms of payment?" She said credit card was one of those forms of payment. I said "then you have to left me pay with my credit card." She once again refused to let me leave my credit card numbers. I said I may want to dispute this charge so I want to pay with credit card. She gave me reasons why I wouldn't win the dispute. I said that that was between me and my credit card company. We went back and forth on this until finally she said "You have three options: pay with cash or Venmo, come back on Monday, or get the **** out of my yard." With that threat I paid using Venmo. You can see on the receipt I was still charged a credit card fee. She was essentially holding my car hostage despite my willingness to pay with a valid form of payment. Perhaps to avoid additional work on their end and avoid a potential disputes with credit card companies. Also my car was in the lot for only about an hour. These charges for one hour are excessive.

I allege that Central Valley Towing company is practicing predatorial towing in direct violation of UTAH CODE 72-9-603 and Utah Administrative Code R909-19.
First, the parking location does not have proper signage posted at each entrance and exit. There was only one sign in the entire parking lot located at one entrance and it wasn't the one I came in.
After realizing that my car had been towed I called they reported to me that it would be a charge of $100.
At the tow yard the attendant informed me they would be charging me $330. Looking at the receipt the itemized list of charges were both outside of legal limits established by Utah Code §72-9-603, and Utah Administrative Code R909-19. The applicable fee of $168 for towing of a vehicle rated 10,000 GVWR or less was upped to $179. They also charged a fee of $62 for fuel, at the current Rocky Mountain average of 4.932 I understand that the percentage charged should be 33% meaning the true charge should be $55.44 when applied to the correct towing fee of $168.There was a credit card fee, when asked how much it would be with cash they said it would cost the same, so it would seem they are charging people fees regardless of payment method.
They charged a $37 administration fee vs the allowed $35. Again showing a direct sign that the company of Central Valley Towing is practicing predatory towing.
They kept all patrons confined and would not let anyone go out of the yard until everyone paid. This kept many people including families with small children out waiting over 2 hours until after midnight.
The staff was extremely rude to everyone, referring to customers as "Karens" as well as talking very vulgarly. He took a personal phone call talking about how stupid all these people were, and how much money he was making by towing all of these people, an obvious example that the intent was to take advantage also threatening one lady that he would raise it up to $830 if she kept arguing with him.

On Sat. August 27, 2022, I was visiting a family member who lives in an HOA community. There is very little parking there, so I was parked in a no parking zone. I went outside to leave and my car was gone. I figured it had been towed but I had no clue how to find out where. Luckily, a family member noticed a sign at the community clubhouse of a towing company and a phone number. He found it and called Central Valley Towing. The driver told him the cost would be $318 if we could pay cash. He said they were closed because it was the weekend but we called just as he was getting to the impound, so he said he would wait for us. Looking at the home security camera, we noticed he did not put the back wheels of my awd car on dollies. We brought it to his attention with the camera footage, and he got very defensive and short tempered. He said he had to go around the corner to put it on the dollies because he has been shot at by "people like us" before. He stated he had towed awd vehicles before and he knew how to do it. He got angry and said, " fine, wait until Monday to get your car." I told him I had a baby and needed the car seat out of my car to get her home. He didn't even offer to let me at least get the car seat out. He rudely said, " go to Walmart and buy a new one." We stayed calm and gave him the money and he agreed to let us get the car. I handed him $320 and he tried to give it back with an attitude saying he didn't have any change. I told him it was ok and he could keep the extra $2. As he filled out the paperwork, he continued muttering and being demeaning. He said, "if you knew how to park like everybody else, we wouldn't have to do this." I said thank you and got my car. He was the rudest, most unprofessional business person I have ever had to deal with. A couple days later, I noticed my car making grinding and whistling sounds when I turn, so they obviously used incorrect towing procedures. I would like reimbursement to take my car to be repaired.

Vehicle was towed from Lowes parking lot on 7/24/22 at 10:05 pm by Central Valley Towing, Snowy Towing, Central Towing and Atomic Towing. Was charged $356.00 for towing/impound two blocks away. Upon arrival at 10:15pm damage was noticed and documented on the newly replaced front bumper. I was told by manager Jason T***** that the damage was apparent from the tow of Ali and would be repaired. Jason gave me his business card and contact info for the business office and asked to follow up the next day. When i called the office the following day Ali answered the phone and was told they had to do there own investigation and would get back to me. After no response for several days I reached out again and was told nothing would happen because the owner Daren Habel was out of town and on vacation until August 8th. I drove to Central Valley Towing office this morning to meet Daren and show the damage of the car along with photos and clear evidence of damage to a newly replaced/insurance documented front end.. Daren completely denied any and all responsibility and told me to leave his lot. I informed Daren that I have already contact my insurance co and informed them of the damage and claim but was giving him and his company the opportunity to make right. He refused any solution or accountability. Video, photos
