Refused to pay for repairs on 2016 jeep. Repair was for oil cooler replacement. Oil cooler is a major repair as it is located under the lower intake. Repairs are over $1000.00.

Dear ******************, thank you for your comments about the coverage on your vehicle. We realize these types of situations can be frustrating when you leave the dealership with a perception about the extended coverage you believe you have purchased. The vehicle service contract you son purchased is what is called a "stated coverage" contract which means exactly what the name implies. The vehicle is covered for what is stated in the contract. Unfortunately, the oil filter housing isn't listed as covered in the contract and this is the reason Alpha Warranty wasn't able to assist this time. Rest assured, however, that if something fails on the vehicle that is listed in the contract, we stand willing and ready to pay the cost of the repair. We're just sorry we weren't able to assist this time.

I purchased an extended warranty when I bought my Audi A7 in 2020 in the event I would have a major repair issue. 2 weeks ago (2022) the engine threw a rod which was confirmed by my mechanic who specializes in German vehicles. We submitted our service history and was told by Alpha that a $2,000 tear down was required (and would be at MY expense if the engine ended up not being covered). My mechanic says that more damage can be done doing a tear down and it was a waste of time and money. He doesn't even do tear downs for this reason. It s clear that Alpha is trying to find anything they can to blame so they will not have to cover an Audi engine. Alpha customer service is absolutely horrible. **** spoke over me and talked down to me the entire call. She refused to let me speak to the next chain of command and refused to let an adjuster see it in person before doing a tear down. This is extremely unprofessional and lacks integrity.

Dear *********, thank you for taking the time to submit your situation to the BBB. We always welcome the opportunity to address our customersconcerns and hope our response will give you answers to your complaint.According to the details of the claim we have for your Audi, the failure reported was due to a noise inside your cars engine. As you mentioned in your complaint, you submitted your maintenance records consistent with the terms of the service contract you purchased. We always take this step prior to having the repair facility do an extensive tear down of the engine in the event that the failure isnt a coverable condition within the terms of the agreement and to avoid costly tear down bills. After a careful review of your records by our team of certified mechanics who are very familiar with German luxury vehicles, they expressed concerns that your records dont indicate the vehicle has been maintained with appropriate oil changes at the manufacturers recommended intervals. This was of concern since German vehicles are precision machines and require a higher standard of care to maintain them. Due to this, our Claims adjuster asked that the engine be torn down to the point of failure to determine the cause and the extent of the damage needing repair. Modern, highly engineered vehicle engines are complex machines and many times, disassembling them is the only way to perform a proper diagnosis regardless of the noise or circumstantial diagnosis of a problem. We understand your mechanic is resisting doing the tear down and we can appreciate that. However, without a definitive diagnosis of the issue and repairs needed, were not able to proceed with assisting you with the repair of your vehicle. We understand that this can be a frustrating process but without a clear understanding of the scope of the problem, we regret that were not able to assist with the repair of your vehicle at this time.
