We booked a tour to the Holy Land with a cruise up the Mediterranean to Rome for Sept 22 to Oct 3, 2000, Reservation # ****. The total price was $8,190.00 which we paid in full in advance. The cruise was cancelled by the company because of COVID and we were told we had waivers so we could book another cruise later. We started trying to book another cruise, but we could never reach anyone who would help us. Either no one answered the phone or we were told that the person in charge of that was out of the office and would call us back. We never got a call back. The waivers were extended for three years, but we were never able to get another trip booked. We tried to get reimbursement through the travel insurance they had suggested we use, AIG under Claim # ************. They replied "According to the information provided, your trip was cancelled by the cruiseline due to the corona virus. Unfortunately, the Trip Cancellation benefit does not provide coverage for this reason and we are unable to extend a claim payment."
Your list Types of Resolutions does not include reimbursement. That is what we would prefer, but we realize that is probably not possible. At the very least, we would like to add our complaint to add to the strength of the investigation you are currently conducting against this company. Thank you.Initial Complaint

In December of 2019 we put a deposit of $1500 on a vacation through Cruise Builder. Then Covid hit. The told us we could use our deposit for a trip in 2021 but travel was still restricted. They then told us we could use our deposit towards a trip in 2022 but still there were too many restrictions for travel. So the last time I talked to a live person, which was last year they told us we had until the end of November of this year to book something and not lose our deposit. I’ve emailed them several times at the email they give on the recording of their phone number but no response.Initial Complaint

We booked a Cruise with Cruise Builder to Italy, for March 2020 which was canceled by them during Covid. We received an email stating there was a voucher to use for a cruise by December 2023. We found out that they changed the name of the Travel agency. We have contacted them a couple of times and they give us a run around. We paid them $4,184.00 for the two of us to go on this Temple Italy cruise and they told us we would only get $800.00 each towards another trip, we would have to pay more money to go. We purchased trip insurance which didn't guarantee anything. We were very worried they would do the same thing again. We chose not to try for another vacation through that agency. We asked for a refund of our money and they said no. We have tried to call and email them recently with no answer. They stole our money.Initial Complaint

In May 2019, I booked an 11 day trip to Italy including a 7 day Costa Cruise through Cruisebuilder for $3,437.00. Our scheduled date of departure was Mar 16, 2020. I began contacting them on Feb. 18, 2020 asking to potentially reschedule the trip due to the coronovirus outbreak. We were told that they were not rescheduling and evertyhing was still proceeding as booked and our trip insurance would not cover this situation. One week before the scheduled departure, I received an email giving me 30 minutes to decide if I wanted to postpone my flight and cruise and told I would get a cruise voucher valid for one year and a credit for $99.72 for my flight. The voucher was eventually extended until the end of 2023. Since the time my vacation was cancelled, I have tried to work with Cruisebuilder to get some sort of resolution to the issue. I have requested refunds, requested other options for travel, requested they just book a cruise for me with the existing voucher, release the voucher to me to book a cruise directly with Costa, refund any portion of the money spent. My latest email to them Apr. 2, 2023 attempting to use the voucher before expiration was never answered. I called their number and got a message thaty they no longer take calls and to forward any emails to [email protected]. This email dated Wed. Apr 5, 2023 was also never answered.Initial Complaint

I booked a tour with Latter Day Travel (who is associated with Cruise Builder and Vacation Builder) on January 10, 2023. I paid the full amount that day - $4,451. The tour was to be from May 1-16, 2023. On February 23, 2023, I received an email stating that the tour had been canceled due to inflation etc. I was told that I would receive a refund within 30 days. That time has come and gone. I sent an email to the company at the end of the 30 days to tell them I would be filing a dispute with my credit card for the charge and that they should be honest and do the right thing and refund our money. Surprisingly, I did receive an email back that said that since I was filing with my bank, I would not get a refund back from them. I decided to go the tongue-in-cheek route and emailed back: "So we are going to be getting a refund! Wonderful. I'll cancel my dispute. When can I expect the refund?" Not surprisingly, I have not heard anything back from them pertaining to my email or in regards to getting a refund.
Note: I am still waiting to get a refund from the dispute I filed with my credit card. I really don't care where I get my money from - I just want to get my money back. Though I do want this company to be held accountable for what they have done to me and so many other people. I would prefer that Latter Day Travel refund me my money and then I really would cancel my dispute.Initial Complaint

We booked a cruise through Latter-Day Travel in Dec 2022 and we started getting emails from a company called CruiseBuilders about the trip in Oct 2023. We sent a $500 deposit and set up a payment plan for the next 5 months or so of about 1,500 each month to finish paying off the cruise. In January, we reached out to have them help us with our flight bookings also but kept getting no response back. This continued through the month and so we tried to call only to find that their phone# message said that they were only corresponding via email (but they wouldn't return my emails). We had only paid one installment of $1,498 in January so we cancelled our debit card which was linked to their auto draft payment plan to see if that would help us get a hold of them. We didn't hear a single thing from them in February but did finally get an email from a different company called Go and Do Travel in March. The emails said they were taking over the cruise for the Latter-Day Travel company and that it was still planned. We noticed the website was almost identical to the Latter-Day Travel's website with similar addresses and legal small print. We asked about getting our trip cancelled because we weren't comfortable with the large cost of the trip if we weren't going to get someone we could trust get back to us about concerns. Go and Do Travel said we would have to get our cancellation money back from the original company and they were just taking this over because there was a death in the ownership of Cruisebuilder. We looked up the obituary of the death that they said had happened and it was in 2021. We asked how they could take over a cruise if they weren't given the original money put down by customers to book the cruise and they couldn't answer us. We have not heard back from either company (which after a little bit of link analysis, we feel is the same company) regarding our refund.Initial Complaint

On January 19, 2023 I booked a trip with VacationBuilder (Latter Day Travel) to Europe and paid the full price with a credit card of $8336 for both me and my wife. On Feb 23, 2023 I received and email from VacationBuilder stating that the trip had been cancelled due to "VacationBuilder facing significant financial pressure due to inflation and related increased costs for travel services. These inflationary market conditions, which are in addition to lingering impacts of COVID-related restrictions, have made it impossible for VacationBuilder to go forward with your scheduled cruise or tour." The email also stated that I would "received a refund within the next 30 days."
I emailed them back and asked if I would receive 100% of the amount I had paid and they responded that I would.
I've tried contacting them since then and they no longer respond to phone calls or emails.
I'm seeking help to get a full refund from my cancelled trip.Initial Complaint

On 12/12/23 my mom, ********* ******* (**** ****** **, Bellingham, Wa 98226. Email *****************. Phone ###-###-####) and I each paid $4812 for total $9624 for the “Three Temples tour.” On 2/23/23, Latter Day Travel sent us each an email stating that they were canceling all of the tours and that they would refund our full fee within 30 days. It is now 4/13/23 and we have not received our refunds or any additional communication from the business. They are advertising a new shorter tour, but do not answer their phones (they say they only use email now.) We would each like to receive our refunds.
