We set up to have our dog boarded on February 16th with DaShawn. I was asked to put a security deposit down to "secure my spot" which I did of $150 upon choosing to board her for two weeks ($1500). On January 21st we paid the first half of the remaining balance $675. I was told the rest of the balance would be due the day of drop off. The Friday before drop off DaShawn texts me asking if we could close out our remaining balance, this raised a flag for me because we already agreed that it would be due upon drop off. I started to panic wondering if I was being scammed so I proceeded to go check his website out again which turned out to be down and inaccessible. When asked about the website, he proceeded to tell me the website was down due to developer issues, fine. So I began asking more questions. I asked where my dog would be boarded, if other dogs would be there and what I would have to bring. He said in his apartment and I would only have to bring her food. Also that other dogs would be boarded there which alarmed me because she was being boarded due to reactivity/ aggression toward other dogs and he did not request me to bring a crate for her. Still weary decided to go through with it because I really wanted to support a Black owned business and his was one of few so I proceeded. The weekend passes and the day before she is supposed to go (15th) he asked if it could be pushed back to the 20th due to him having to travel to see his ill grandma. I obliged because things happen. However after thinking it over and reading the one review he has on yelp that is hidden by the way stating that he was unreliable and continuously rescheduling with another client whom he also reflised tn resnand and deliver theirrefused to respond and deliver their refund I decided it was best to sever the relationship be ultimately it was about Khloe and what situation would be best for her. He agreed to give me a portion of my initial deposit back which I have not received.
