This is an addendum to my previous posting.
Several years ago, I was told during an inspection that I needed a new engine mount. It was installed and I passed the inspection and was told there was a fold in the replaced engine mount but it was OK. I went back the next year a couple of weeks before my next inspection was due to get inspected and was told that I needed a new engine mount, the same one. They said is had a fold or something in it and needed replaced. They replaced it. After paying and going home I remembered about the previous year. I found the last years receipt and inspection. I took it back and told them here's the warranty for that same engine mount. The manager said it was a good thing I got back before the full year was up or it wouldn't have been covered; despite their putting in the very same mount that they were now failing. When the manager refunded the cost, he refunded LAST year's cost, not what I had just paid. I caught him and had him refund what I had just paid since they had once again done work that didn't need done.
I know people who have gone to VA Tire and Auto and will never go back. Common comments are "They always find something expensive","They perform work that isn't needed" and "I caught them telling me something was wrong that I just had taken care of somewhere else with the receipt to prove it".
VA Tire and Auto engages in a great deal of fraud. It would be nice is someone addressed the issue.

Brought my vehicle in on a Friday evening for alignment and to have grinding noise on passenger side window checked. Told service to go ahead and fix the window whatever the issues was. Service said this would include a diagnostic. Service left a message on Friday evening to call. I called Saturday morning for 2 hours and was not able to get through. I went to the shop at 0915 and they said they were waiting on parts for the window. I left and called back at 1415 in the afternoon. They said it should be ready by 1500. I went to the shop and waited. At 1500 they told me they were sent the wrong part and the correct one should be coming soon. At 1610 the part had not arrived so I told them I needed to take the vehicle as my brother was driving it to Florida the next day. I told them I would not be paying for anything related to the window to include the diagnostic that I didn't need. The manager Mo at first said the I had agreed to the diagnostic and he wouldn't take it off the bill. The he said he couldn't take it off without higher manager approval. Another customer said that if the window is grinding, you don't need a diagnostic to know its the motor. After 4 minutes of arguing with Mo, I told him I'll pay for the diagnostic but this is the last time I'll go to VA Tire And Auto after being a customer for over 20 years. All this over a $140 charge that is used to take money from customers. It's not up selling, it is underhanded thievery.
I went to the back of the shop where my vehicle was and waited for the mechanic to pull it out of the bay. The mechanic was great and explained that he had greased up the parts on the window lift and motor and it should work until I could get it fixed. He had put the door back together. The interesting thing, he had be working on the WRONG window. He was working on the driver side when I told service that it was the passenger side. This just shows that the diagnostic is a fraud to make money.
