Important information

  • Customer Complaint:

The BBB has received numerous complaints from consumers that allege paying a large fee to this firm for EIN numbers and the company claiming to be with the IRS.  Online searches for this company website show that the website is based in Iceland and not in the United States.  BBB strongly encourages consumers to visit the irs.gov website directly for any assistance in obtaining a EIN number.  Consumers report their bank accounts being charged hundreds of dollars repeatedly for fees and providing SSN, passport information and other forms of ID that have then been compromised.  To date, we have not received any responses to the complaints on file.

BBB suggests consumers also report their experience to the FTC at www.ftc.gov

The issue happened on 12/17/24 with a business that has no clear identity or proper DBA usage. Operates under the following entity names: IRS-EIN-Tax-ID-Number.com, etax-filing, EIN Online Application 2024, *** Tax ID, **-TaxID. I called to ask who is the company/representative and agent says she did not have any idea. Business handles and collects sensitive information without properly stating their company's name. I requested to be refunded ($279) for this deceptive business practice. The way they represent their company logo, website color, use of EIN, ETAX was very deceptive. They have taken advantage of their SEO priority on ******. I was caught off guard as I had been expecting communication with official state entity for another transaction and only realized the mistake after getting an email from someone other than the ***. These companies are capitalizing on *** related wordings and far from impersonating *** website colors and services. Stop victimizing citizens under the pretense of providing services. All you do for EIN is basically transcribe the information provided you by individuals thinking you were IRS.

I Googled "*** EIN number" and was directed to this company's website. I submitted an EIN request believing I was on the *** website. Then I saw a charge on my charge card for $319 from a California company. I immediately disputed the charge and received no response. Their website (**********************") is deceptive and misleading. The charge is outrageous considering that the application through ******* is free.

My wife and I are starting a non-profit to provide housing to autistic adults - in part to have a place for our son to go after we are no longer able to take care of him. I got the Articles of Incorporation drafted and filed with the state of Kansas which charged us $20.00. It would have been $80.00 if it was for profit. So when I googled applying for an Employer Identification Number with the **** it did not seem unreasonable that there was some charge associated with it. I assumed I was dealing with a government website. It asked for my ***. The site was irs-ein-tax-id. When I later determined that I had been scammed, I called the customer assistance line, was told to hold and was then told that their mailbox was full and that I could not leave a message.

This website claimed to be the **** which they are not, and then charge $319 to file an EIN. I should have known better- the *** is free to fill out the same paperwork. It takes 2 weeks - according to this fruadulent company - to verify your EIN number with the ***. Basically, this is a complete business identify theft scam. I am working to get a refund from the company and to freeze my credit and correct this with the ***. But it is a NIGHTMARE.

12/9/2024 I needed to create an EIN and this website looks almost identical to the *** but makes you pay and I paid $279 only to find out it was NOT the government's website. This is horrible stealing people's information and money! I emailed them immediately to cancel and haven not heard ******************************************************

On November 27, 2024 I requested a EIN number on my phone thinking I was doing so on the *** website. I was charged $319 for this. When i received an email response I realized it was not the *** and filing for this number was free. I immediate sent a email to cancel and was told that they this information was in the disclosure. I asked what service they are providing me if i could do this for free. After reading the BBB has giving them an F, I am realize that i should have continued to contest. I will dispute this charge on my credit card tomorrow.

This is in reference to my attempt to obtain a Federal EIN for my LLC directly through the *** - I believed that I was dealing directly w/ the *** and not an entity named, 'Member Planet' that charged posted a $319 charge to my AMEX CC. I emailed their support email immediately and requested the transaction be voided, and I contacted **** to dispute the charges. This all occurred Fri, 29 Nov, @330p ET.Thank you, *** ********

I ordered an EIN number thinking I needed to pay for one. My daughter died and I made an error thinking I need to pay for one. I contacted the ***, and they said they do not charge for them. This company is fraudulent and wont give me a refund.

The issue happened on 9/19/24 with a business that has no clear identity or proper DBA usage. Operates under the following entity names: ***************************, etax-filing, EIN Online Application 2024, *** Tax ID, **-TaxID. I called **************** ************** to ask who is the company/representative and agent says she did not have any idea. Business handles and collects sensitive information without properly stating their company's name. I requested to be refunded ($279) for this sketchy and deceptive business practice but they only agreed to charge me a cancellation fee of $70. The way they represent their company logo, website color, use of EIN, ETAX was very deceptive. They have taken advantage of their SEO priority on ******. I was caught off guard as I had been expecting communication with official state entity for another transaction and after receiving a phishing text message that I thought was from a government entity. These companies argue that they are no different than Turbo Tax and HR Block but the latter are not capitalizing on IRS related wordings and far from impersonating *** website colors and services. Turbo Tax and ***** Block are very transparent and clearly identifies themselves as a company separate from *** in all their transactions whether that be their websites and emails. Stop victimizing citizens under the pretense of providing services. All you do for EIN is basically transcribe the information provided you by individuals thinking you were IRS.
