On Dec. 13th, 2024 we contracted Roto-Rooter to service a whole house backup. The technician (*******) arrived and I the ** explained the situation and showed the Tech that the floor drain in the basement and the basement toilet was backed up. He acknowledged and proceeded to flush an already backed up toilet. The new tenant witnessed this and questioned why he did that. Nevertheless, the Tech quoted $408.35 to clear the main and the toilet. I showed the Tech where the clean out was located, he informed me that if he broke the cap and band that was capping the clean out, he would have to charge me a trip charge to the store and for procurement of a new band clamp. I told him, dont worry about it, Ill remove it for you. He got his machine in the basement and 10 minutes later the floor drain was clear but not the toilet. I asked if he could grab his toilet plumber and or auger to clear the toilet and he then stated that it would be an additional $200+ to clear the toilet. I asked why additional when it was a part of the original problem. He stated hes only following company policy and practices and he would lose his job if he cleared the toilet without charging me. I told him to get a manager on the phone and he gave me some number that wasnt the office number. I got in touch with a supervisor and he backed up the Techs story and response. I told them that this was not good customer service and that I would never use them again. The supervisor stated, thats fine and oh well! I told them thanks and I would clear the toilet myself. The Tech pulled out his bucket vacuum and sucked up a small area in front of the toilet and left the rest of the mess for us to clean up. I called in to the office and paid the $408+ invoice over the phone and told them that I would be contacting corporate and leaving this review. All customers be aware of this company, their culture, practices, and their nickel and dime approach to charge you for every little thing!! Thanks
