In short, I was charged $189 for contact lenses that were covered in full by my insurance. Office technicians failed to provide an itemized receipt for service including eye exams and purchase of contact lenses. I contacted the office for an explanation of delayed service and the office tech, who declined to provide her name, stated it was because of my type of prescription (which was not confirmed) and informed that there will be an additional delay. I requested a refund to which the office tech stated there was nothing to refund since the contact lens order was place through insurance. This is the FIRST time I was made aware of the insurance order because I paid via credit card on 6-6-2024, for the ordered lenses. I asked for them to pull their receipt of my purchase and an itemized account of what I paid for and they had no record of my purchase. Since I have a receipt of my purchase and the office has no record of the purchase, I am concerned that there may be fraud involved with charges and billing. I believe Dr. ********************** is a good doctor and I hope he is not involved but I am worried that I may be defrauded by technicians that work on behalf of him and his practice. If I had not inquired about my order, I would have still been erroneously/over charged for lenses. Additionally, I experienced a similar situation with this office years prior where I was charged $500, yet never received lenses. When I inquired, after a 2 month delay, the explanation was that the doctor didn't think they were good for me then changed to the staff "forgot" to order them.I also believe my race was being weaponized to escalate the situation. Because I am a tall black male, the employee threatened and called law enforcement after I tried to show the employee evidence on my physical receipt. No matter my approach, tone or attempt to explain myself, I believe the employee was ready to use my race as a means to escalate the situation and villainize me as a concerned customer.
