On 9/5/2023 a flood caused by a handyman ruined my kitchen and half of my downstairs area, so there's missing insulation, drywall, and flooring. i made a makeshift kitchen with folding tables and small appliances but there's not enough outlets. First restoration contractor didn't do an estimate so I waited until mid-October to contact Service Master and met with ************************* and signed a Work Authorization and was told another 4-6 weeks so again I waited. 11/2/2023 I notify ***** that I rec'd a large insurance payment. Plus I have other funds so I made it clear that funding was available.12/8/23 (6 weeks) Apologies from *****, estimate has been at construction reviewers with no response, it had not been submitted to insurance. He will set a reminder to check every hour. (he does not follow up with me).12/15/23 His estimates are done... so he emailed Good morning *****. My sincerest apologies for the length of time this has taken. When we spoke, I am not sure if I was clear on the timeline, and that would fall on me. However, when I spoke about when work would be starting what was said is that from the date contracts were signed and a 50% deposit was received, then construction would be 4-6 week out from starting. Attached are the estimates. The main would be from us, and then I attached the 2 estimates from the flooring vendor. If you would still like to retain our services, I will have the contract sent over to you as well for signature and then we will just need to get the deposit paid for. Again, my apologies for the misunderstanding. Then he gets a migrane and cancels the appointment to sign the contract and get the check. 12/19/23 He texts saying trusted insurance estimator is reviewing their estimate (and soon insurance guy is on vacation). He shows up on 12/20 with the contract to sign and I provide the deposit. 12/20/23 He brings over the contract and I pay the 1/2 deposit of *********. Looks like it cleared the same day. At the door he tells me he had favorable reviews from his 4? other projects. I think he said something about a high percentage of something. His card says his NPS Score is 80%. His LIC# SERVIS*942NU 1/16/24 Insurance asked what's the status of my repair, I replied saying nothing has been done yet. Kitchen cabinets from Lowes will be delivered tomorrow. I cc'd ***** and asked what is going on. No reply. I had also emailed him saying the kitchen cabinets will probably be in the way... they don't take up the entire room but most of it, one wall of the largest room they're now stacked in does need drywall, but there is only about 1.5' for them to work in. The garage is not available since it has some of my belongings, the rest are upstairs or still need to be moved.1/30/24 Lowes called for the second time asking to schedule an installation date. I give them Service Master's phone number and ask them to call ***** or the company.I numbered a calendar, 6 weeks was last Friday, 30 work days not counting Federal holidays and still no word on restoration. I'd guess that the insulation and drywall wouldn't take more than a week, but IDK. Painting might take a couple of days. I do not know what is holding things up since ***** has not contacted me... but I am 69 and have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and an 18 year old cat who needs multiple medications every 8 hours so I just want my kitchen back and be able to cook fresh food, and not have to do dishes by hand, microwave pre-cooked food, circuit breakers tripping, dig through boxes to find anything, walk to two different rooms to get cooking supplies and carry dirty dishes... I could go on and on. During the freezing weather I had to have radiator heaters going full time, so I ended up tacking up carpet runners over the un-insulated outer walls which include the plumbing for the kitchen... its a wonder I didn't have another flood. Also dealt with an ant invasion, and now the new cabinets or the boxes IDK which are smelling up the entire house so I'm venting heated air all day and night. This nightmare needs to end asap! Thanks!

Thank you for notifying us. After reviewing this file we found that a fail safe in our system did not occur. We have made contact with ********************* and our lead construction project manager is currently working with her to expedite repairs in her home.

The jury is still out on this ... ********************* was here and gave me his business card and he is very sharp...   while I was typing this response he called and came here on short notice and I was told that my project would be expedited.  Since he hadn't responded to my email or text I asked if he rec'd my emails... so it sounds like now neither one of the previous estimates are accurate and it'll take until mid week to get that to ***** who's on Jury Duty and then to insurance,  This mix up could've been prevented if both ***** and the flooring contractor and *** had listened to me to begin with.  I'd already moved everything to the garage and upstairs that I could and there's no more room so I decided that the carpet in two remaining areas can be replaced later.  It didn't get wet and I just want the insurance to pay for it like they're supposed to.

I am more concerned with getting my stuff out of the garage and all the cleaning and furniture touch up that will need to be done after almost 6 months in the garage.  Two bookcases/shelves were sitting in the flood water, two of the other oak antique tables need some Restore-a-Finish because the finish was either old and coming off anyway, or damaged by the earthquake gel that I'd used to fasten antique lamps, etc down onto the wood surface.  I was in the middle of trying to bleach out an ink spot on my heaviest oak table when this happened so I still need to do that as well and help moving this stuff would be done safer and easier by me since it is all mixed up in whatever boxes I could find, or the furniture needs work before I can unload the boxes.  One antique bookcase was left too close to the garage door so the top corner got scraped, so lots of little things I need to get done before I even want a lot of the furniture back inside because of chemical fumes from Restore-a-Finish.

Heating and electricity bill hasn't gone up yet since I'm on the average payment plan but when they do a re-calculation I'm sure it will skyrocket. There probably will be no reimbursement for that. There are gaps in the flooring allowing dirty crawl space air to come in the house.  I had to put a carpet sample over one hole and I tripped on it again yesterday, not to mention the extension cords running across the room for the fridge and overloaded outlets for my small appliances.  I was sick an entire week with some sort of inflammation (and now on prednisone) where I couldn't move my head even enough to drive that settled in my neck possibly from scraping the ice off my many large van windows which would not have happened if I could park in my garage, so I told *** about this.  Hopefully they'll not make me wait much longer.

      Thanks, *****

*** is currently working to finalize the customer upgrades in regards to the flooring. We will then be able to finalize a start date but are anticipating within the next two weeks. In regards to the furniture, anything that is damaged as part of the initial loss should be submitted to your insurance carrier for review and consideration.
